  • I just wish they allowed PayPal payments. Got to have a credit card to use it and I just dumped all my crappy credit cards to get out from under all that debt. LOL

  • Well, it works, just like they said, cause I use it!

  • @RIOSBEAUTY Some people say the Magic Jack works well for them while many others have various problems over time.

  • Does one jack enable all the phones in your house? Do you have to have one for each room in the house? Do you have to have broadband or can you have dish or direct tv internet?

  • I have vonage and I am impressed it work excellent and I am not changing it.. I pay it yearly and have no monthly bills.. Vonage is good

  • i got lucky im not a techy , mine is working fine, only thing i noticed is that a few cell phone numbers that i tried calling , it wont go thru it said the number is not accepting calls, but in fact the phone is activated, anyone have any comments on this?

  • I cannot install Magic Jack...I have Verizon DSL & a Westell Router spent several hours trying to register when I gtryto register I get an Internet Expl error & it hangs Does anybody else have Verizon DSL with a Westell router and have they been able to get the Magic Jack to work?

  • yes and it works just fine!

  • I have been reading many negative reviews, about MJ but I must say I think it depends on your internet speed, mine works just fine, I have adsl, and I live in Europe and I never have any problems, clear calls, I am more than happy with it

  • yeah but when magicjack users power goes out..so does your phone.a phone line is still better than these alternatives.

  • your landline has never gone out when the power goes out?

  • my landline is seperate from power.landlines normally run through a seperate line.not a power line.has anyone forgotten that or is everyone using this wireless or dsl/cable stuff now.phone lines are seperate and do not go out when power goes out as long as its not a cordless phone i assume.

  • and some people just dont have enough knowledge to realize that that you just said Soul.they are too out of touch.power and phone lines are seperate or us old schoolers only have that knowledge.

  • Or there's also people like you who think they're are knowledgable but really are still lacking knowledge. a UPS will fix this problem of not being able to use it when the power goes out.

  • Is it better when price is factored in?? My land line costs me roughly $50/month, or $600/year. That's 30 TIMES more expensive than a Magic Jack.

I haven't bought one but am very keen on doing so. As a backup, I'll always have my cell phone. Is this not an amazing deal?? It sure seems to be.

  • a UPS will fix that...and lets see a regular landline costs about 100 times more then magicjack. Even if I didn't have a UPS, I think I'd risk the few times the power goes out for the amount of savings roughly $500 a year

  • It actually works!

    We use it everyday!

Who uses a house phone anymore??

  • "Who uses a house phone anymore??"

I would not throw away the Land Line, after all, if the Power goes out, you can still make a call on your Land Line unlike MJ. I see your point & I bought a MJ but throw out the Landline, I don't think so. It has not gotten to that point yet. MJ is good, but it ain't that good. After all, Power Outadge & you have no Phone Service. Peace

  • IamNeutral

That's why cellphones were invented...landlines are a waste of money.

  • True. Homes are going to start needing battery backups. lol. On the C/O Side they have a huge genset in there that keeps everything straight usually for about 5 days. Everything else is fiber to the regional exchange and you bet they have a generator. lol

  • @baddestmiamichick305 its time to start useing a home phone again! haha

  • can u do three way with it

  • yes. it has caller id, call waiting...

  • yes. it has caller id, call waiting...

  • where are the other 4 parts? Get to the fricken point! Jeez

  • Hey, do calls made on this thing come up on a bill?

Like, does the numer, being called are the number calling, would it be saved somewhere?

    Message me please.

  • I just ordered mine, and no you don receive a monthly bill, they send you a reminder before it is about to expire, and the number is automatically like registered with your magic jack so you can use it on whatever computer you want

  • I just got my magic jack today and so far its working great. Called my family in Texas and I live in South Carolina. No static or bad reception.

  • It works good if your not downloading or useing a wireless lan adapter, customer support is difficult to find, you have to find the return unit option to get chat from india, alot of states have no asigned phone numbers so anyone calling you is calling long distance, nero burning software will will not work if its plugged in,you need 2 email addresses to use it,1 to order and 1 to activate it,basicly you need a computer running 24/7 just for the device, its 50 bucks to get started including shipping

  • MAGIC JACK IS GREAT. I had some problems like i couldn't recieve call and volume and few others. I just went to the website and went for live help but before going in to live help The questions on the FAQ page answered my all question. If you can't recieve call unplug phone and see if you can recieve call in ur computer. Its simple stuff like this. You do need decent phone though and decent internet. Piece of shit phone wont work and cheap dsl connection .. Thank you majic jack

  • This is a fantastic product. I ordered it 2 weeks ago, no more expensive landlines for me! It's great if you have high speed internet it's worth its weight in gold!

  • i had problem with mines never can receive call and diffuclt to make can anyone help??? please

  • I've had MJ for over a month and my friend who told me about it has had it longer with absolutely no issues. I have Stage 2 DSL internet from AT&T and the reception is only choppy when I'm sites like youtube (Watching videos). So the solution for that is, unplug it :).

I still have my other phone line from AT&T. SO I get A new line, voicemail, call waiting, caller I.D.,free long distance, live support, voicemails sent to my e-mail address all for roughly a buck an a half a month. No brainer.

  • LIVE SUPPORT? Where? MJ has no SUPPORT.

  • I am considering getting one one these as just a a business line, I want to keep my digital phone because it has battery back-up.

  • I have had mine for about 30 days. I have become frustrated trying to access set up oline. None of the links work. And when I try to chat with live assistance I have sat around for more than 30 min without anyone connecting to assist me. Anyone have a suggestion ???

  • I own this device. I make calls any and everywhere in the country for FREE. I'm buying all of my close family one. Quality is not as great as a FTP (fiber to the premises) but its about as great as a cell phone. Sometimes the listener can hear echo. I suggest also having really fast cable internet for best quality. Installation was easy but a local phone number was not available to me. I had to settle for a phone number in Dade county and i'm in Pensacola florida. But who cares? FREE!!

  • Iv had my MagicJack for about 4 days now. Call quality for local and long distance is perfect. For those who are having choppy calls, Make sure there arent any P2P programs running. Programs that use the internet can cause your calls to be choppy! LOVE MY MAGICJACK!

  • Please keep us updated!

  • I got my Majic today plug it up and it works great. this is great

  • i just retured three cause they didnt work for jack.... bs

  • Just ordered my free trial. Got a dedicated PC to avoid any of these problems everyones B!tching about. The quality of these VOIP products depend on a lot of technical hardware overhead between you, the network servers, the person you're calling, and the machine you're using. Save some money, get a cheap old PC just for this MJ, that's if you don't already have one. Make sure it has USB 2.0 and a good network adapter, and you're good to go.

  • Hey everyone, just got my magicJack and I find that there is nothin' wrong with this product. I repeat there is nothin' wrong with this product. It does exactly as advertised. To be more specific, its reliability matches that of a cell phone. The audio chops whenever your router is busy or just whenever data packet traffic is being handled locally or somewhere down the line. That's on par with the cell phone which are subject to radio reception issues and packet traffic at their servers.

  • If you are having problems then it's not the MagicJack itself. It works fine for some of us. like I said the MJ is subject to the same type of issues as cell phones.

  • @athews1976 I just got mine and I can't get it to work for the life of me. Please help, lol?

  • Free 'local' call's... very funny. You still need a phone line (and resulting local phone bill) to get your comp onto the internet.

  • Cable Baby!

  • coxail (CATV) is a poor name for a baby. Sad.

  • It is also possible to use a data link via a ATT, Verison, and Sprint. The advantage of this is phone access anywhere a person has cell phone access. Plus, you can still do all the internet stuff. Quite possible to get less expensive cell phone plan, if at all.

  • lol you can get the magic jack to work by INTERNET ONLY not dial like YOU'RE using

  • I tried it and it froze my computer permanently. I eventually got an address to return the thing. Do any of you have GOOD experience with VOIP and have suggestions?

  • DONT GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO KILL YOUR COMPUTER!! I thought the world of them until I tried it. It works the first few days, then gets worse and worse! The audio quality is not good and the pop-ups get worse and worse until they kill your computer! They install VIRUS-LIKE-SPYWARE/ADWARE on your computer. They install OUTERINFO the worst virus ever that wipes out your System Restore! I tried it on a 2nd computer dedicated only to MJ and it killed the computer! I cant get it back up! Returning 2day!

  • Get a Mac

  • sorry not into intel chips

  • I've had my magic jack since December 2007 and it has work just like my home phone.Sometimes it has a little echo but most of the time you just hang up and call back or go away! I love the Magic Jack and if you dont like it you can send it back.

  • I did send it back well within the 30 day free trial and they still charged me. Only after I contacted my credit card company did Magic Jack come up with the refund.

I'm glad that your Magic Jack is working. Are you using a wireless router or is your computer directly hard wired to your router or modem?

  • Why did you send yours back? I know you didnt ask me, but Im using a wireless router. Does it have problems using wireless internet? They say you can use wifi.. and I didnt have any problems using Vonage wirelessly.

  • I had problems with Magic Jack, I thought maybe the wireless had something to do with it. My vonage works well but is connected directly to the router.

  • Dont waste your money! Bad customer support. I am trying to return mine, and they provide no address, phone number (don't believe me, check out their website), don't respond to their e-mails, nor do their live-chat people want to talk about returns. They tell you "this is the sales department", and disconnect. (Don't believe me, buy one, then try to return it). I just wrote to Bank of America to prevent them from charging my account.
