Truly one of the dying breed of singers. And now we'll have to settle for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, and those mediocre singers...Ugh, really? Seriously? If I was Englebert and realize I'm going to be replaced by these losers, I'd take it as a slap in the face.
HAHAHAHAHAHA ok ok everyone has the right to an opinion , look i love engelbert , truly i do , he is one of the top vocalists ever up there with tom and elvis but these guys where all friends and genuanly like each other there was no competition at all ........
I see you all are bickering among yourselves as to which singer does this song better and who is in fact the greater singer. Well, let me referee (haha) for you. Englebert was wonderful on this, loved it. Alas, my decision on this song goes to Tom Jones. As to Elvis ... I have not heard his version. The point I wish to make is that all 3 singers are different vocalists. Foolish to compare the 3, really. It comes down to what you like, not whose better. Enjoy.
Tom Jones does it better.. Then all the others.. All are great singers with different style.. however Tom is most powerfull and that's why I like him. He's the Voice.
Even I think sir Jones is amazing he neither has nothing on this from my point of view. And the same with other songs they both sing as My Way, Funny Familiar Forgotten Feelings or Love Letters. In fact, if you listen to Engelbert singing live 1972 Jone's supehit "It's Not Unusual" you realise that Humperdinck is much better.

Engelbert, essa música era a preferida de meu querido pai."Creio em ti,ao ver que a chuva cai,e faz a flor nascer..." Para mim é um hino,de tão especial !!!Obrigada, por deixares mais linda, com tua belíssima interpretação !!!
Wonderful heartfelt song. Wonderful singer Mr. Engelbert,.. N one sings this song like he does. SUCH PASSSION.....I BELIEVE in everything he is singing...

Why do we even compare Elvis to Enge. Elvis was and Enge is still on of the superstars of all time. In case you didnt know Elvis and Engle were friends and never compared themselves. We shouldnt either......
After watching this once again , I can truly say that No one, but no one can touch this man. He is in a class all by himself. That voice, how he hits and holds those high notes, it is just unbelievable!! And that look, that demeanor, that beautiful face. Oh My, enough said, Just love this MAN,
@chillin616 Can you please tell me where I can buy this CD I've looked high and low and still nothing. I love this song, I Believe by Engelbert.. Can you help me. Can you copy it on window media player for me?
Englebert takes his amazing rendition of a great song to all new heights. This song which has been done by so many other of the great singers, Frankie Laine, Elvis, Tom Jones a close second, Engleberts version could not be served up any better. The best singer of this song ever, Enge hits modulations and notes and that never existed in this song before his perfect voice and delivery
@BGS57 I agree, the arrangements are what makes it. Elvis had more of a traditional country-rock feel and actually was not classically trained as Engelburt is. Elvis actually tried to imulate Engelburt and Tom Jones.
I didn't care for his style in his younger years , however he has matured into one of the most powerful voices in the business. He projects a deep, rich and powerful voice quality that most times is just stunning feel good music.
I read a comment by Mr Lachie bellow, about Elvis Presley does this song better so to speak, I did listen to that song by Elvis and with all do respect Elvis was great but Engelbert has a much deeper and much more power in voice quality in the way he sang this song,
Just TOTALLY AMAZING, that's what he is. Certainly the BEST singer in my lifetime! No one performs this song the way he does. He stands alone in class and charisma. Not to mention his drop dead gorgeous looks. What a MAN.
This is Engelbert Humperdinck and the perfect marriage of musicians and backup singers,,,soundman and lighting people...What are the names of the Backup Singers?
pj proby sang it better/best. and the only reason you wouldnt agree with that is....you were one of the of the prudish twats that ruined his career in the 60's.
You don't find singers like these anymore. They're a dying breed. Justin Timberlake or Kanye West maybe much more popular these days, but when it comes to singing, they both don't have the pipes to match Engelbert or those in his days. Love it!!!
I had the pleasure of appearing with Englebert on vanessa and we shared a dressing room and had a really great conversation about Elvis. Englebert was a big fan.
Thanks for posting this in YT mattd, I believe he sings this because his faith has kept him whole, kudos to Engelbert, he is so gifted, sharing it with all those who believe as he does!
My dad died in 1964, when I was a boy) but every time I hear this song I remember seeing him sing it in our local pub (I was too young to drink though).
I think Engelbert is one of the best singers in English. I love the way he sings. But, have you guys listened "I Believe" by Raphael, the best Spanish singer ever? His English is almost English, but his way to sing, his voice, are the best. Try "Ares", a downloading software, and get "I believe" from "Raphael Live at the Talk of the Town". You'll have the best version for this beautiful song.
no one sings this song better then Engelbert. were can i find this song performed by him. he performs with a lot of hart and that is what makes the song. the words are very deep.
Yes,I'll go to Tom Jones link and will write that Engelbert's version is the best.:)..What are you doing
here?I don't like Jones at all and I've never been at his pages.I don't want to compare Engelbert with somebody else, because He is the One,as Jones for you.
I never knew Englebert did this song... But I'm glad he did it! One of my favourite songs since I was a kid.. A stupendous rendition!!!! Happy new year !!!
This is a great version--Engelbert has always had a better voice than Elvis, just is not the showman Elvis was. The best version of this song was and is still the version from the gospel group The Imperials--past, and the new young configuration today. I think it takes somone with a ministry of God to REALLY handle this song!!!!
I've never been an Engelbert fan, but he has the most haunting and beautiful arrangement of Silent Night I've ever heard. I discovered it a few years ago and it is one of my favorite songs that I have to hear every Christmas. He puts his whole voice into the song and it's a masterpiece. Somebody should post a copy here on youtube for others to check out.
A flower grows I believe that somewhere in the darkest night A candle glows I believe for everyone who goes astray, someone will come To show the way I believe, yes I believe
I believe above a storm the smallest prayer
will still be heard And I believe that someone in the great somewhere Hears every word Every time I hear a new born baby cry, Or touch a leaf or see the sky Then I know why, I believe
Il est clair que quand on la connait par Elvis, on ne peut rien ressentir, personnellement je trouve cette interprétation fade, mais bon je suis une fan d'Elvis....donc chauvine !!!
I am so overwhelmed how Engelbert sings this song and emphasizes its meaning to him, and I am reminded how I felt and learned the chords of this song way back in highschool. Kudos forever to the depth and spirituality he manifests in this performance and thanks mattd46612 for sharing this awesome video!
i have all of engelbert's albums . To me , he is without a doubt the greatest singer ever in my life time . Doe's anyone out there have " il mondo " to post . i have the album but not the video . Great song for you to hear .
Engey Can't wait to see you in Vegas Oct. 30th. This will be my 5th concert and they just keep getting better and better!! We need pictures of your new look!!
Engelbert is the better singer over Elvis and Tom Jones. He has better voice control. Tom Jones actually just screams his songs. As he got older, that's when Tom started singing better. As for Elvis, he is good the way he sings. He tries to put too much style on his song because he cannot actually sing the way Engelbert does. Elvis a note very long so he breaks them by adding his own "style" to it.
you compare englebert to ELVIS, dont try that with TOM JONES, his version blows this out of the water, NOW maybe WE should NOT compare any of these GREAT performers, as they are ALL legends in thier own time, and i love them ALL, they can NOT be replaced, and the music industry will NEVER see this talent ever agAIN, this is a lost art. god bless them all .
Why even compare Elvis and Engelbert?...Elvis admired Engelbert very much.. Elvis used to go to Enge's concerts.. They were great friends.. Elvis=King of Rock and Roll.. Engelbert=King of Romance... Plus Elvis got the sideburns idea from Engelbert... I love them both, but as a balladeer, nobody compares to Engelbert.. Just saw him in Indiana, lost weight, changed his hair and sounds better than ever..
This comment is for dunnhill33 GET YOUR MUSIC STRAIGHT. Engelbert sings ballards. "THE KING OF ROMANCE". Your Elvis sang Rock, your Elvis has left the planet at his own hands. Compare voice to voice. Take notice of where Engelbert holds the mic. Engelbert has 3 1/2 octave which blew Elvis and others away! I'm sure where ever Elvis is he can hear Engelbert sing. I BELIEVE...To be the man, You have to beat the man, and I BELEIVE...There is no one to bump the hump ever! Man has class & we listen.
Hi folks, One person we should also thank is his son Scott. I have all EH Vidoes, and all the video that his scott produced for his dad, were great, and we all should praise Mr Scott dorsey for a great job well done for his dad. Thank you Scott, JOB WELL DONE

You'll have the best version for this beautiful song.

Yes,I'll go to Tom Jones link and will write that Engelbert's version is the best.:)..What are you doing
here?I don't like Jones at all and I've never been at his pages.I don't want to compare Engelbert with somebody else, because He is the One,as Jones for you.

I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows I believe that somewhere in the darkest night A candle glows I believe for everyone who goes astray, someone will come To show the way I believe, yes I believe
I believe above a storm the smallest prayer
will still be heard And I believe that someone in the great somewhere Hears every word Every time I hear a new born baby cry, Or touch a leaf or see the sky Then I know why, I believe

Hear, hear!!!!!!!
Don't compare, just enjoy. We will have their music forever.

can't agree more....Tom's version blows everyone away...by a mile....such power and emotion...unbelievable
