If you watch the nile crocs attack zebras they still struggle to kill them. A zebra is too powerful for 1 croc to kill outright (unless it grabs the head). Tiger is about 7ft. long. Croc is a good two ft. longer in the tail from the end of the tiger (at least), and a good two ft. longer than the tiger in the front. I'll bet the croc. is over 10.5 ft (or more than 3 meters) long. Just measure it compared to the tiger.

The fact is, that when it comes to aggression, the Amur tiger lacks the ferocity of its cousin from the Asian sub-continent ( Bengal Tiger), which, in turn, lacks the ferocity of the lion by a significant margin. As you see the croc's length in this video is more or less twice as the tigress body length. the fact that the tigress killed the croc you can reasonably assume that any tiger can kill a croc twice as big as the tiger itself in length. A male tiger can grow to 3 meters (body length-excluding the tail). so it can kill a 6 meter croc, that is a 19.8 ft croc. so a large male tiger would be able to kill a 16 ft saltwater croc(on land of course).

I was lucky enough to see Machli whilst visiting the park in 2006. Apparently shes has quite a reputation for killing crocodiles during which she's lost many of her teeth.

On land, Tiger has a HUGE advantage, look at how it was attacking. It circled around and used it's speed and agility to out pace the croc.
It then leaped on the crocs back and mauled it, this is a HUGE advantage to the Tiger. If it was a Salt Water Crocodile on land, size matters ZERO in this scenario.
A Tiger will have the huge advantage on land.

There have been cases where Bengal Tigers in the Sunderbans have killed Crocs in the water! The Tigers are known to swim freely in the waters, with no interference from the Crocs. Tiges are immensely strong animals.

Americanrajput I don't doubt it. I know tigers are immensely strong animals and comfortable in the water. But its not their natural habitat. For that reason I'd still give the croc the edge in the water 7 or 8 times out of 10. On land I'd take the tiger maybe 9 out of 10. Just going with the odds.

The crocodile's tail can break the legs of things, humans, I think lions too... At the very least injure the tiger's legs enough to destabilise it and then turn around and bite it. So from that point of view the tiger has to avoid both sides of the crocodile. The tigress here did an amazing job, incredibly skilful.

Lightning can strike...Looked at videos though, can't find 1 where a cat gets killed out of water, in fact is there 1 where a cat is proven killed ? Saw plenty of cats killing crocs on other videos posters sites though. No croc would kill this tiger, reptiles aren't smart this cat is, and experienced. On really big crocs their skin may be too thick-seen that before but that's defence not attack.

Tiger is about 7ft. long. Croc is a good two ft. longer in the tail from the end of the tiger (at least), and a good two ft. longer than the tiger in the front. I'll bet the croc. is over 10.5 ft (or more than 3 meters) long. Just measure it compared to the tiger.

The fact is, that when it comes to aggression, the Amur tiger lacks the ferocity of its cousin from the Asian sub-continent ( Bengal Tiger), which, in turn, lacks the ferocity of the lion by a significant margin. For most people it is easier to understand this by comparing dogs. I own Great Danes which weigh in at 60-70 kgs each, yet the significantly smaller and lighter Doberman down the road attacked and injured my Dane. The difference is one of ferocity.

As you see the croc's length in this video is more or less twice as the tigress body length. the fact that the tigress killed the croc you can reasonably assume that any tiger can kill a croc twice as big as the tiger itself in length. A male tiger can grow to 3 meters (body length-excluding the tail). so it can kill a 6 meter croc, that is a 19.8 ft croc. so a large male tiger would be able to kill a 16 ft saltwater croc(on land of course).

Fact... The crocodile in the video had it's neck snapped and was dying at the end, you can tell by the way it was fighting and the tail swing at the end. Little signs of life.

I didnt say a lion is bigger than a tiger. Its very clear that a tiger is far stronger than a lion. I have allways said that. A bengal tiger is strong enough to last a few minutes with a grizzly bear, a lion would receive instant death. A tiger is also a strong swimmer, but a lion is scared of water.

My post before that didn't show up. I'll post it again. Crocodiles have a soft muscle behind their head and neck. In this video, you see the tiger break the crocodiles neck. In the end the crocodile doesn't fight back anymore because it can't. Look at the tail action, it doesn't fight anymore. Have you ever heard of a crocodile initiate a fight, and then just wait and let it's opponent tire out?

Oh and by the way... Tigers can reach up to arond 12ft long... If you look at this croc from head to tail, this Croc is at around 15-16ft. Sure the largest reported Croc reached 20ft, but RARELY do they ever. This was an adult croc, eaten by an adult tiger.

this fight between the tigress and the crocodile actually lasted more than an hour. "Battle of Giants" was the title of an article in a bbc wild life magazin about this fight: the tigress had just killed a deer, and left to bring her cubs. when the she returned it saw the croc on the carcass and decided to kill the croc. the croc weighed more than twice the tigress, as you can see in the video. you can imagine a male tiger which can weigh twice of an average tigress can kill a much larger croc.

3 meter to 5 meter, because a tiger's body lenght(excluding the tail)lies between appr 1.5 to 3 meter. because it was a tigress it couldn't be 3 meters long.
