I wrote the Partnership Program secret email when I first heard about the press releases a month ago and they told me they couldn't monetize the videos featuring commercial music, even those from the companies they have the deals with.

I have to say - this was a bigger letdown than the Pats losing the Superbowl. I dunno what the hell you were using to record the audio, but it sounded like you were filming from the inside of an oil drum. Just go to Wal-Mart and buy a $10 mic, dude! It really wouldn't have mattered, though - you really had nothing worth listening to in this video. Plus, you were trying too hard to be Jon Stewart at the beginning. I've gotta go watch the Tom Cruise spoof just to remember why I subscribed...

Those press releases you're quoting are from September and October 2006. Has something changed recently? As I understand it, those agreements were made in principle, but nothing had actually come of them yet. There was talk of a "content identification system" that would automatically find out what music was used in a video so that the labels could be compensated, but I haven't seen any evidence of that yet.
