bravo, thank you, when i heard you playing hairless, i got a shaking feel ,the one i felt the first time i heard it 32 years ago; it sounds as if out of time ,coming from another life. the lovers!! what a beautiful piece , the nicest in voyage;thank you for what you do , your talent , artistic abilities, and your generous postings.
its really noticable how much better of a player you've become in the last few years. Just went back and watched this vid which has been in my favorites for a while and its quite clear your playing and recording have really imrproved, by the way, that is not to say you weren't an excellent player before... you just get better with age!
Not sure what's gonna happen if someone is not going to tab this hairless heart arrangement! The troubleclefmeister has produced a masterpiece for classical guitar. Let others learn it ......
I recieved your reply via email. Thanks very much. It helped a lot. I'm still trying to put this together so it sounds coherent, but my fingers don't bend the way i want them too. Haha.
I've managed to figure out the first 15 secs. of Hairless Heart. Yay for meee! It just takes me 25 seconds to play it. Could you give me a hint at the chord you are playing @ 3:36 in the video? I can't figure it out.
Superb. Horizons is one of those pieces that really seems to test guitar players. Many postings of it and some by pretty good players but only a few manage to pull off a version that flows, makes sense and is musical - even Steve has had his share of dodgy moments over the years. Thanks for this and all your other postings
Dude....I'm blown away. You have wonderful fluid movement between the phrases just like Hacket. I'm a huge Genesis fan for over 30 years and I want a cd of all your covers!
Well, I don't know about the technical mastery of the exact notes being played blady blah... But, I'm a Genesis fan and thought this was f*cking excellent !! Many thanks troubleclef for sharing with us. 5***** from me!
Sorry, but horizons is not that quite accurate, compared to other performances you've made, specially at :20, :31, :39-:41, and :50, I know this masterpiece is quite an ordeal, but perhaps more practice in order to achieve more closeness to the original one, which we all believe is the point in posting these videos, to show the world you've accomplished something, Hairless heart needs to be emphasized a little bit more ... My humble opinion ...
In the case of Troubleclef, with all his talent and feeling, he's more than earned the right to interpret the piece in his own way, rather than just copying Steve Hackett note for note. We don't "all" believe that song cloning is the point of these videos...
Thank you for you comments Worldo, but, with all due respect, and in order for me to know, how is that right earned to interpret pieces like this the way you want it, if that's the case, so just call it Three by Me, and not by a specific Author or Composer, and so, what would the point be in posting these videos, I have no doubts about Troubleclef's talents, skills and feelings, because it shows, so, good thing we have these comments boxes, and make our reflections of what we see and expect...
Beautiful, I really enjoyed your version of Hairless Heart. As an amatuur guitarist myself, I appreciate how difficult to play all of these songs are, but trouble clef, YOU NAILED IT, fabulous!!
You, my man, could have replaced Steve and, at least in my opinion, and assuming that you have the same mystical musical interpretation as Steve, have allowed Genesis to have continued making the same sort of music that they made up until Then There Were Three. Another of your posts goes onto my favorite list. Thanks
open high e and open d are to be played and the beginning starts with b: 7th fret (and open d) and the second note is g: 5th fret and then open e... try
You are one of my YouTube idols! Every single one of your videos is amazing. I'm particularly fond of this one, Life on Mars and Love Of My Life. Beautifully constructed and played. I've just started uploading my own videos now, I have three of them so far (Blood on the Rooftops, Horizons and Blackbird) and I will add more. I wouldn't compare myself with you, but anyway! Thanks for your lovely videos!
I enjoy a wide range of guitar styles both acoustic and electric (Al di Meola, Steve Hackett, Jan Ackerman, John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana, etc.), but at the end of the day I favor melody vs. virtuosity and Steve Hackett is second to none when it comes to soul soothing tunes and your interpretation and arrangements are truly amazing.
I browsed your gallery of youtube postings. Wow, such a soulful collection... Do you ever play in public?
You mentioned one of your pieces was from a book by Chris Parkening. I saw this guy in concert few years ago and was disappointed. Very uninspired selection he had that evening. Very beautiful play clef. This song makes me remember my teenager-times. Could you play Genesis' Song "Harlequin", from the album "Nursery Crymes". You can hear it on:

I'm with you mate, Daryl Sturmer is technically a phenominal musician. But sometimes he tries to cram too many notes in(example: the current live version of "Firth of Fifth") Hackett's work is just beautiful.
The Horizons was absolutely outstanding! I have been trying to find a good version of the song on youtube, and this is by far the best. Salute the Maple Leaf!
Clef, I'm just beginning Fingerstyle ... how hard is it for you to perform, say this piece (Hackett) on a steel string vs your classical Taylor. ... I'm having a hard time getting consistent clear tones on stretches .. I'm on a Taylor Drednaught (heavy strings)... The reason I ask is I'm considering a nylon stringed instrument
Like most of the Hackett's music, I find it hard to put into words. But I would think that your heart soars beyond mundane daily life when playing these tunes. They did such for me. Thanks.
thanks. i like the MB's. maybe i'll do some at some point. for some reason i had "How is it we are here" stuck in my head the other day. Not my favorite song of theirs by any means, i just kept hearing Mike Pindar crooning away "Man's mighty mine machines, digging under ground". lol
