@Tux3d0 My sisters fiance shoots them when they get too close to their house. I live in town. We discourage them from coming into the yard. had ony had one or two up here, and if they become a pest I would live trap and remove them, and eithert take them out into the woods, or have my sis's fiance put them down.

aww so cute! They are adorable. I think we have them in our back yard too. Saw one today getting hurt across the street by a dog and I scared off the dog, of course the dog almost got hurt by traffic but the owner came out and got his dog. The humane society got the baby who was hurt and took away.

mine are starting not to be as scared of us. if i took maybe 3 more steps i would have been able to pet it! we have, as far as we know, 2 or 3 living under our deck. i love my ground hogs. and if anyone wants to know how to get rid of them, you can't. we brought our's all the way up to HIGH POINT (like, 45 minutes away from us by car) and they came back. if you kill them (which i really rather you wouldn't!!) new ones will come and take there place. i have a vid of one standing up like meerkat

My land lord actually planted his garden right a groundhog's hole at the edge of our back yard (not sure if he knows there's a ground hog hole there or not. His garden's been there all summer without any noticeable damage to the plants, and there currently is a mama with several babies living there.

Over 5 years I have many generations of groundhogs in yard. They live under the shed. They have only one hole in yard , directly under an apple tree. They actually build a funnel under the tree and the apples fall off and roll down the hole. the apple tree is at least 150 ft from shed, must be a tunnel the entire way to shed. There is a large light tan one that does most of the work on funnel. actually amazing to watch. so far so good. They eat well and don't disturb anything yet

Worst case scenario, you'll find your building's foundation collapsing because the bastards tunneled underneath it.....it happened to me.......and cost THOUSANDS to repair!!

Yeah there's always the easy way out just shoot them right? They tunnel near foundations to keep warm during hibernation in winter. Modern homes with insulated basements aren't nearly as much of a problem. If your home is that old, and you've let the population of 'hogs get that out of control, maybe you should simply let your shitty house collapse on your face?

Killing them doesn't do anything: new hogs will show up and move right in. Better off relocating them after you fill the holes in.

The best advice I can give you is shoot those varmints dead every time you see one.

I had them living in my yard and used to think they were cute too...until their tunneling collapsed one end of my shed, they chewed a hole in the side of my garage, and their voracious appetite stripped every leaf off every plant in my garden.

I have since bought an air rifle and now shoot them on sight.

I cheer every time I hit one now - it gives me a really warm feeling to kill these furry little vandals.
