thx 4 responding me....but now let me ask in this way about speed .if a body has a speed 0f 2m/s @ an instant t=1 and 5m/s @ an instant t=2,does this means that the body has a total speed of 7m/s ? thx
@thefearofthelordj No. When you have two numbers you can always add them, but it doesn't mean that the answer means anything useful.
Let's say that you have a car travelling at 2 m/s for 10s and then at 3 m/s for 15s. What is its average speed over these 15s? Distance covered in the first 10s: 2 x 10 = 20 m. Distance covered in the following 15s: 3 x 15 = 45 m.
Average speed is (total distance)/(total time) = (20 + 45)/25 = 2.6 m/s.
@thefearofthelordj speed is indeed a scalar quantity. As far as the second part is concerned, the answer is "it depends".
If 2 m/s is the speed of x, 3 m/s is the speed of y, what does 5 m/s represents? the speed of what? If you mean the total distance covered by these two (x and y) in a second then, yes, it is 5 m.
It is comforting to know that I will be at least semi-competent in Physics before the first day of school. All kidding aside, thank you so much for posting these videos. It has made Physics a more bearable subject to study. I'm not a great math student, but this series clears up a lot.
I need 4 advanced courses for honours with distinction and my fourth one is gonna have to be IB. im already signed up for academic chemistry and physics so im just gonna up one of those to ib. Which is easier though, ib physics or ib chemistry
You should think about what your school is best at teaching, and what your strengths are in. I was cursed with a terrible ib hl physics teacher, but had an excellent ib hl chemistry teacher, so right now as i'm preparing for my final ib exams, i'm having much more trouble with physics than i am with chemistry.
my entire class is struggeling most with physics, we are IB2, IB3 on the other hand, have another physics teacher and do best in physics. I really think that to some extent it is important what the teacher is like.
I think that if i had a good teacher in physics, it would've been my best subject, because i'm good with mathematics. Personally, I think that physics is the simpler subject, as it really only requires good math skills and an understanding of content in order for you to excel in it, but if your good at memorizing mechanisms, then go with chem. Hope this helped :)
It hasn't been discontinued. My teaching and other commitments have not allowed me to produce more podcasts. Right now, I'm working on the next episode. Going online in a week or two. And thanks for your comments. I'm glad you like the idea.
Unfortunately (as you may know) the IB Physics May 2008 exams are already this tuesday-wednesday, so i'll have to revise the rest using conventional methods :)

I actually find IB chemistry much easier,
my entire class is struggeling most with physics, we are IB2, IB3 on the other hand, have another physics teacher and do best in physics. I really think that to some extent it is important what the teacher is like.

@complimentsheck i would say chem is easier ;P but probs no help now lol if you like maths chose physics if you dont chose chem - simple.
