  • Wow. This was really terrible and I do not mean to be offensive. Please look into the works of Gary Habermas, N.T. Wright, Michael Licona, and William Lane Craig. I have only watched a few of your videos about austrian economics and like them so far but this video makes me think that you really are not delving deeply. Again, I do not intend to be mean. Take care.

  • Your premise is that Jesus did not exist because there were no first hand writings about him.

There are also no first hand writings of Socrates.

    Your premise has been destroyed.

    Good day. Stick to economics.

  • @RedBloodReign:"There are also no first hand writings of Socrates"

While this is probably true, I know of no one that is claiming that Socrates performed miracles or was the son of some god, thus the ones who are making the extraordinary claim MUST provide the extraoridinary evidence.

Sadly for the xtians, they lack such credible evidence, which speaks volumes for such a popular miracles worker 'man'.

Perhaps it is YOU who fail to understand what proof is along with human nature?

  • We are followers of YaHuWaH our heavenly father...Go back to the "Book of Remembrance"/Old Testament and you will find in several places that our father tells his people HE is the only savior and mighty one and beside him there is no other...the new testament is just a false book of fiction and lies...YaHuWaH will save those who call upon HIM...Shalom

  • Do you realize that most secular historians agree that Jesus of Nazareth existed?

  • @germanicelt what proof would they have, and why do people trust people with degrees when common sense would tell you that the story of Jesus was a fable, it states in the bible that he dies and comes back to life after being dead 3 days physically impossible, then it states that he left in a cloud, what would that imply? Extraterestrial beings?

  • @waypor1

As well as archaeological discoveries which validate the bibles claims, the Gosples themselves are internationally recognized as legitimate records of the past . You also have works such as “The Antiquities of the Jews” written by Jewish historian Josephus during 1st century AD, and historical figures such as Cornelius Tacitus (a 1st and 2nd century Roman historian), Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus , Thallus and Celsus and Lucian of Samosata (all secular historians and authors).

  • @waypor1

I could go on if you'd like. The list is huge.

  • @waypor1

You speak as if the story of Jesus seems crazy.

Well, yeah, common logic would deem it so.

But contemplate your very existence for just a moment. Then think about how this universe began through what Einstein and Edwin Hubble revealed as "The Big Bang".

They discovered what physics now calls a “singularity” (a phenomenon which cannot be explained).

Now think about how you’re entire reality, is based off something which cannot be explained by science.

  • Almost no one was literate in those days. And no one who was literate and not a follower of Jesus would have wanted to mention him; they would not want him remembered by history in any way, especially for what he was. There are records of him outside of the Bible, but you're looking in all the wrong places. I can't think of a specific example off hand, but they exist.

  • I enjoy much of what you post. I too am a free market libertarian. I am also a Christian. I watched this video with interest. What you do here is make claims then offer no support for them. You decry a lack of evidence for Christ's existence while ignoring what it there, and making shakey allegations to support your view without ever offering a shred of evidence for those allegations. The errors and fallacies you commit in this one video are mind-numbing. Perhaps you'll do better next time.

  • First, the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. Jesus would have been an unknown to the wider world at the time, only known to the Sanhedrin, and the Roman Provincial government subsequently, in a time when the ability to write was not widespread. Read the Grand Inquisitor chapter of The Brothers Karamazov for a philosophical reason for why Jesus' existence, and divinity, is of necessity an uncertainty.

  • this makes me have even more faith in jesus because if he wasn't really existant then why would you put so much effort into trying to convince everyone & yourself that he doesn't? when you die you're gonna know that he does exist and you're gonna feel stupid because you hardened your heart.

  • If humanity requires Jesus to be the son of God in order to listen to the message of Jesus Christ then humanity does not deserve Jesus Christ.

  • There are many books out today that have some wonderful poetry and philosophy far surpassing Jesus and his supposed dumbshit ramblings. I encourage you to read one.

  • @Omadus AV Mt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

AV Mt 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

  • Jesus did exist. Josephus a Jewish scholar wrote of him. Josephus did not care for Christians in general. You can logically debate weather or not Jesus was God but he did exist.

Also you atheists are just as bad as religious nuts. What does it matter if someone believes in a religion. Its not any of your business and shouldn't mean so much to you that you had to make a youtube video.

  • Josephus' writings on Jesus are contested.

  • @mythrail Yeah by one Jewish person. That not much to even be called contested.

  • In science what matters is whether or not the facts align with the theory, not how many people, or what race they are, agree with them.

One person correctly contesting a falsehood is better than a billion people incorrectly supporting a falsehood.

  • @mythrail I am just saying the guy has a motive. His theory that Jesus didn't exist is based on the fact that Josephus writings aren't Jewish enough. I don't think that can be called science.

My original statement here was that you can argue that Jesus was not God. You can't say he didn't exist as a human being.

Funny how atheists always attack one religion.

  • We can (and have) done both.

I am not targeting your religion, it is simply the one I am most affected by.

  • Just as bad for making a YT video? Hardly. Believers love to make it our business and last I checked you can click away anytime something doesn't seem like its YOUR business.

  • @UcanbeGOD Fundamentalist atheists like yourself are morons.

It's a personal belief. You atheists should have some symbol to wear, you are just as dogmatic as any religious person.

  • Why do you care about politics? After all they are 'just personal beliefs,' why not just leave people alone?

  • You accept all personal beliefs? I doubt it. Show how I am dogmatic. In fact what could you possibly point to about me to say anything at all? I merely corrected your comment. Or is it you that is dogmatic since you clearly just ramble off insults while knowing nothing of the sort?

  • @UcanbeGOD Obviously I am generalizing. I am not speaking about just you.

Further I am not dogmatic at all. I careless about religion. The fact is you can say there is no God, you can't say Jesus didn't exist.

Atheists wear their religion on their sleeves just like many extremely religious people.

I think its a personal belief and as long as it does not harm others or is forced upon another its fine to have.

  • I can say Jesus didn't exist as much as I want.

Just because its a belief doesn't mean I can't challenge it. Its this kind of passive defense that stops debate and thinking in all realms of thought. You are right about most atheists too, but my desire to have this debate is not dogma sir it is simply being human.

If someone said they believed that retards should not be allowed to live but was not violent would you be so passive?

  • @UcanbeGOD How is not allowing someone to live not violent? Believing that would be ignorant. Someone believing that their is a God and they can get to heaven doing good in their live is something different entirely.

As I stated before Josephus a Jewish scholar and historian wrote about Jesus. He hate Christians and had no reason to support Christianity. You can say God isn't real but Jesus was a human just like you and me, and he existed.

  • I specifically said they were not violent about the belief, just believed as such. Its not different in principle 1. Because there is allot more to Christian beliefs than just that, you must be blind not to see that. 2. Its a "personal belief' that is not causing violence (per your stipulations).

About Jesus, so what? There are other recordings of jesus like figures in history are they all real too? What is so authentic about it this time? I could write about Zeus big damn deal.

  • I know about Christianity. Nothing is harmful to other human beings. Although people in history have used to to do violence. It is not a fair comparison to call someone who believes retards should die.

About Jesus. Its the context of which he was written about that makes it different then Zeus. This is a none biblical source from a person who didn't believe that Jesus was the messiah. He spoke of him and the Christians that followed him. He had reason to deny the existence of Jesus but did not

  • Its fair per your stipulations. Christianity supports all types of violence, have you read the book??

You can also write in different contexts too, and simply say that you have no motive to do so. You can write all sorts of shit. And why is it nobody who was so touched by him and had reason to write of him ever did? Another thing to think about is Jesus never wrote anything.....apathetic? Hardly. Illiterate? Doesn't sound right. Never existed? Yup.

  • By your logic Abraham Lincoln didn't exist.

And yes I read the book. Jesus was nonviolent and never once condoned murder or violence. The only parts of the bible you find violence are in the old testament. It does not say go kill people because of who or what they are. The violence recorded was historical and said to be at God's command. I doubt people are getting any of those commands.

  • Actually that is not my logic my logic is why should I believe that just because this guy wrote about it and supposedly had no reason to?

Actually there are several verses where Jesus goes into detail about how to keep slaves and don't forget that Jesus is supposed to come back and destroy the earth with fire....remember(violence)? All the wars ever fought were fought by people claiming to have sanction from god. The NT does not change the OT btw, Jesus says that himself in the bible.

  • @UcanbeGOD Jesus never said he would come back and destroy the earth. That was writen and said by a figure known as John hundreds of years after Jesus' death.

Jesus never said it was ok to have slaves. Just like the video you are making false statements because it goes along with your atheist religion.

There is enough evidence that God doesn't exist without lying about facts. Jesus existed. Maybe its YOU who should let it go.

  • We were talking about what was said in the bible and what christianity IS in that realm not what a person named Jesus said. What is presented as Christian faith is the bible and the bible says those things. Period. No "atheist religion" involved.

  • Very well done. Glad there are people that believe in logical thought in economics and religion.

  • Hey. You should check out Joseph Campbell's "Power of Myth." It's not important if Jesus was real for Jesus to be important. Religion is actually useful once you can start calling it mythology. I recommend the book, especially if you were christian (or anything else).

  • Good Video!! But you left out every other religions! Which are all set up the same way!

  • Nice video! God bless you!

  • Geeze, why can't you just have faith/hope in Christianity and/or Marxism? Everyone knows that saying random things is always more fulfilling than actually understanding logic. But yeah, all joking aside, great video. I like how you pulled in the emotional 'I was in your position' bit. lol

I doubt it will be effective to your intended audience unless it is full blown emotional mysticism. Logic doesn't go well with those who praise anti-logic.
