I believe this is made by simply inverting the phase of the sample. That is why we need to get the exact same instrumental track. When you invert the phase of the sample it cancels the sound so nothing is heard.....pretty cool though!
This is a well known method. The only problem is that getting an instrumental track is usually as hard as getting the acapella. However you can use this method to remove bits of a song, for example if there is a time when the kick plays all by itself, then you could use this technique to remove all kicks, and once you've done that you may find that the claps are now playing all by themselves, so you could remove them too. Then clean up with a bit of EQ and you can get pretty close.
It sounds like the guy just figured out how to do this. Flipped, inverted, opposite, backwards, peaks are valleys! valleys are peaks! Shouldn't take 8 and a half minutes to explain this shit genius.
do you know any program i can download and can move the vocal out and make it into a instrument? if you know or don't, please let me know. Thank you for your time and thank you for share this with us. Look forward to hear from you soon.
that's why I removed it a minute ago. Thanks for sticking up for a teacher of knowledge. This video taught me something, and for a progressive like me, that's all that matters at the end of the day. :0)
hey thx man..i get it ..sample inversion...i always wondered how ppl got accappellas of songs so lined up properly with zero background music... this is very helpful
OMG how many times does he have to go over highlighting the difference between a normal wave length and an inverted one! I got it the 1st time you said it......was still the same after the 24th time.
omg... that makes so much sense that when u invert an instrumental and line it up with the original song its gonna take out the instrumental leaving the acapella.... where y is the vocals and x is the instrumental meaning the whole song is (x+y), then (x+y) +(- x) = y (the vocals) ... damn why didnt i think of that?
I've had no luck with this technique in Acid, Fruity Loops, or Audacity. Neither seems to want to line up the samples exactly right. Very disappointing.
Heads-up to anyone who wants to use those programs.
audacity isnt the best for this type of stuff...ive done it for instrumental, and mixing both of them with one lyric, but thats it....how much would this software run you??
I'm going to invert it. It is going to be the EXACT INVERSE... meaning it will be inverted. See... peak peak peak peak peak, valley valley valley valley valleeeeeeeeey... here it goes up, but here it goes down because it is INVERTED. It's the opposite. I'm not sure I made this TOTALLY CLEAR. Here it goes up, and here it goes down, here it was a peak but as you can see, it became a valley. Peak peak peak. Valley valley fuckin valley. It's the opposite, the mirrored image. You know, i've INVERTED.
I know how to get around needing an instrumental version to extract an acapella from a full version of a song. It doesn't always work, mind you, and I figure the smart ones should be able to figure it out (unlike you, I'm greedy with my secrets).
I got it to work on some parts, but you gotta do some major cutting of the instrumental and line it up properly, for some parts the acapella played alone then soon after it went back to the norm u just gotta do major editing.
this is good but the guy kept reapeting what he was saying and he took forever to do it...i know he was showing it and explaining it but you dont have to say it like a million times before you actally do it...
oh come on, his not actually teaching it normaly he's using a video so he just was talking all that to make his best effort to explain the subject by the most general way... it's better take all that time and avoid a lot of questions than do it very sample and let it unclear... and men u say it just like it took 30 min... were just almost 9 so i don't find reasonable u're critics and any other one like this one... Well anyway... Thx for the video!!
Niiiice! This is awesome! And it's worked for me a few times, although you could still hear the instruments a bit, but I didn't expect it to be perfect. Some don't quite work, but I guess its not exact or something. Ah well. Thanks for this!
Yup... Sorry 2 say it DOESN'T work lol. Tried it with 2 different songs & both instrumentals/full versions were of the same quality in each test... At least Adobe Audition will get some sales out of this clip tho!
Get the instrumental of one song and the same original song, dont use mixed ones they wont work as well, they should be same quality (bitrate: 192 etc...)
Mozart - it looks Cool Edit he's using. Or Audition, they are the same. This will work in any software as it's sumple science = two equally opposing waves will cancel each other out. Whether it's sound or even water.
man that was cool, i only wish i found this out years ago!!! that software your using tho looks very similar to cool edit pro though. just in case im wrong, would the procedude work in cool edits multitrack?
just use Utagoe

have to be the same song.. could be mixed
by two different people but the quality of the songs have to be the same.. is this right or not?
