  • I first heard Carola in 2006 here in Britain, after hearing that I wanted to hear more. Now, I am a BIG Carola fan. Yes, a BRITISH Carola fan, a student 4 that matter. If outcomes such as that are not a reason for entering again, I do not know what is. I very much believe that Carola should have won in 2006, and the UK agreed by awarding her 12 points.

  • This video is something like three years old, yet i feel like commenting on it! I do understand Sandra to be honest. I like Carola a lot, and I felt very excited when I heard that she would compete back in 06. However, I was quite disappointed she only reached the 5th place - a woman who came 3rd when she was only 16 and won once before. This made me later think that if you have won once there is no reason to make people remember you as the person who tried to win again and didn't make it...

  • But there's now twice as many countries in the contest as it were in 1983 or 1991. Reaching the 5th place these days is far more remarkable than what reaching the 5th place was back in the day. Carola was also the highest-ranked female entrant of 2006.

  • Not to mention that ever since 2006, we haven't been able to even make the top 15 (even if we deserved to end up higher up on the scoreboard, especially in 2007). So in retrospect, Carola did a really good job.

  • Poor Sandra...not completely honest. But I'm sure she want to believe that she is. well, she burned all bridges now...

  • I understand Sandra Kim. After winning the contest it is a risk to participate again. When a former winner participate again and get a bad result, it will take the magic of the old victory away.

There is one Johnny Logan (he had won the ESC in 1980, 1987 (artist) and 1992 (composer of the song)).

  • I don't understand Sandra Kim. Carola and Charlotte Perrelli won, and came back. I believe in taking chances, and even if none of our Swedish heroes grabbbed a second victory their careers still go on successfully - unlike Sandra Kim who sank into oblivion. Goodbye.

  • I see her point it's a risk to take, cause if it goes bad, people will say that you're really not that god, you were lucky the first time. But with that voice I would like her to sing more. I wouldn't use esc, but perhaps release a cd?

  • Haha, this video is like 2 years old right? Well, Sandra Kim shouldn't criticise so much. She's not the biggest star, she just won once, and its one of the may be less known songs that have won the eurovision, and besides, she never actually followed a singing career. Carola is already successful, really no need to do it again, but if she feels like it, then she can participate as many times as she wants

  • Sandras attityde does´nt get her any new fans since she won ESC many years ago. Carola gets new fans and new generations discovers her even if she don´t win the ESC. I would have loved seeing Sandra in the ESC or where ever again. How many younger people know about Sandra and how many younger people know about Carola in Europe? Carolas fanbase is getting larger every year worldwide, what about Sandras fanbase outside Belgium, she could be an international star but don´t have the nerve to compete.

  • Wow this girl is jealous, whoever she is. I can see it on her face.

  • I don't get Carola the concept. There are so much better Swedish singers, but Carola gets all the limelight. Why? I mean I can sing her songs more convincing than she can never dream about - and in the same or higher key (and I'm male). Discovered early - all hype, no heart.

  • now now, come along, no need to be like that! As far as we are concerned here in the UK, every swedish house has a gold framed photograph of Carola in the centre of their living rooms! Carola is BIGGER than IKEA, both successfully and financially! Infact, we need MORE carola if anything. How about Carola for Swedish Prime Minister?? CAROLA ROCKS!!

  • Now why would I get a thumbs down for telling the truth? No wonder why we haven't progressed, musically and intellectually. You know something, Dean? That's far from the case. Carola was 'discovered' at a very young age, a poodle of producers her carreer is made on the headlines of tabloids. For what I and most Swedes are concerned you can have her as your PM if you find her so excitable.

  • I'm sure she could do better than Gordon Brown! I'm not actually a Carola fan, but I think you will find she is going to get bigger and bigger and BIGGER and BIGGER! Not only will she have her name on fashion labels and expensive perfumes...there are even plans to launch her own toilet rolls, with her face and signed autograph on every sheet! hehe

  • No, Carola is the best and deserves the limelights. If you really can do that, please show us. It sounds very interresting.

  • I dont understand Carola too, lol

  • jealousy doesn't suit people, not when it's this obvious! Why can't she just admit that she doesn't want Carola in the competition since Carola has more experince and is a better singer?

  • why should she care? they're not even competitors. She's famous in Belgium and Carola's in Sweden...two different places/audiences. I think she's just being honest.

  • I dont understand Sandra :P

  • Me too...if u win..come back and try again !! Sandras is just thinking about herself and Carola wants to make her country win again go Carola ! you are the best !

  • Sandra and Carola should sing together. They both have incredible voices! I think Sandra should try to compete again! And Carola did well in 2006 coming in at 5th place. Brava!

  • Jag vet *stolt* :P

  • CAROLA S U G E R

  • DU SUGER

  • I couldn't help watching the Sandra Kim interview talking about Carola and I thought what a load of crap she really talks. To say she doesn't know why Carola rentered for Eurovision is complete nonsense. Any fool knows that it's to break into the English speaking market something Sandra Kim has failed to do. Jealous springs to mind on her own part.

Celine Dion did it and succeeded. So Up Yours Sandra.

  • You forget, however, that Céline Dion is from a bilingual country where English is the other native language, so the fact that she, as you put it "broke into the English speaking market" is hardly surprising. All that Carola ever sang in English (apart from translations of ESC stuff) was a collection of gospel songs that were pretty much panned across the board -- not exactly a sure way of breaking into any market except the Christian one.

  • Celine getting success in the english speaking market as I put it was a good surprise. British press & audience can be diffcult to win over. ABBA sung at eurovision in english, Sherisse Laurence a Canadian representing Luxembourg. They must be trying to do something. About Carola she sung a song called the runaway in english in 1985 written by the bee gees.

Carola sung Invincible ESC song on Irish tv in english is that someone not trying to play to an english speaking audience!

  • As you are no doubt aware, the rules concerning the language in which one can sing at ESC have been changed many times. ABBA took "advantage" of this, whereas in 1986 Sandra Kim could not. Even your beloved Carola sang both 'Främling' and 'Fångad' in Swedish. And as for 'Runaway' -- hardly a chart-topping success... And I would argue that despite appearing on Irish TV she is still as unknown there as, to pluck a random example, Sandra Kim; except amongst hardcore ESC fans, that is.

  • You also wrongly assume that Sandra Kim "failed" to make this break, therefore you assume that this was something she consciously attempted to do, which I doubt. English is not spoken in Belgium, so why on earth should she? The mind boggles...

  • Haven't assumed nothing wrong. Sandra Kim hasn't had chart success in UK, Canada, Australia or USA part of the english speaking market. Everyone would be talking about her.

Have you been to Belgium? I have. Belgian people know how to speak english and will speak it as they are taught at an early age. Kate Ryan, Vera Mann can.

It should apply to Finns. (if you are one). English is the International Business Language. I am a European I should know this.

  • Despite claiming that English is your lingua franca, you have clearly misunderstood my comment: Sandra Kim has not had success in English because she never attempted to do so. I have indeed been to Belgium, and just because people speak and understand English (as they do in Scandinavia) doesn't mean that all culture should be in English -- what an outrageously imperialist attitude! English may be many things but it will never stop people expressing themselves in the language of their choice.

  • The above text is ample proof that machine translations are not the way forward! My Finnish may be good, but even I'm at a loss for words...

  • So your Finnish is good? Well here is news for you. She was speaking FRENCH, not Finnish! I suggest you should get a refund from the fool who taught you Finnish!

  • And I take it your comment was supposed to make sense? Hmm...

  • Its just eurovisionsong..Who cares about who sings or wins..Pleaseee..:D

  • Suck my dick. bitch.

  • oh fuck u guy´s you´re so fucking what do you call it? narrow-minded! (trångsynta) Carola is a fucking Bitch and this women know´s what she´s talking about

  • LoL - nobody asked what you think about yourself kid.

Because thats all we learn from your comment. Jealous of a great person; -Why?

    Remember Abusers = Losers.

  • The last person I´m jealous of is Carola. Carola will never be a great person in my eyes so why should I be jealous? But if u feel good saying bad things to people who dont like Carola Be my guest. Hit me with your best if it makes you feel good about yourself

  • i can tell you why i think she did it again! cause she's got nothing to loose. The fans she already have will stand by here. She can onley win new fans, and she has!

    She's a BIG star.

  • Sandra is totally right !

  • Carola will go on with it because she has a talent u bitch...

  • not as much as kim , and kim is right , What if carola ended last ??? Do you think a lot of people would still love her ? Just look at Xandee , Nobody ( except a few persons ) likes her now in Belgium

  • I agree that Carola sings great (afcourse she do)

BUT SHE MUST SHUT HER MOUTH ABOUT THE BAD THINGS ABOUT CAROLA AND WHY SHE JOIN WITH ESC

SANDRA KIM IS JEALOUS BECAUSE CAROLA LOOKS AND SINGS MUCH BETTER DAN HER

  • the girl in the video is just jeulous.
