  • What are the sizes of your monitors?

  • Nice upload and setup Todd - it's very bright! I'm guessing this is the effect of Eyefinity, which I've not seen before.. on the 5870, which I've not seen before either? :)

Jeff - You probably don't drive iRacing? As this looks like a practice session. I hope you know how you came across as you said you did. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Todd knew someone like Jeff, though I don't know how close Indycar and Nascar circles are as I barely catch any of both on the TV here in the UK.

  • Nice video, man!

Do you use Track IR or does the cockpit camera roll with the steering wheel?

  • nice

  • That. Was. Sick.

Do guys like you even look at console sims. The physics looks really realistic.

  • how do you do the bezel management?

  • Awesome!

  • nice Todd

  • Awesome Todd :)

  • Using ATI Sapphire 5850 video card driving three monitors (Eyefinity). No need for TripleHead2Go or SofTH. Eyefinity is a simpler setup if starting from the ground up.

  • Wow. very nice.

right after i watched i ordered two more samsung 24"er's and a Ati 5850 Video card

could you please list your specs?

do you use eyefinity, soft th , or TH2Go?

Ive never seen the multi monitor setup page in iracing yet because ive only been using one single monitor. does it show up when you attach multi monitors? and where are you entering the distance from you to the screen and angle of the monitors at? Is there a .ini file or something im missing?

    Thanks very much.

    Kevin.

  • Eyefinity, Sapphire 5850, E8500, Intel DP43TF, Vista HB 64, 8 GB DDR2 PC800. Center monitor connected via DisplayPort .

Monitor setup is at top of graphics page. You need to enable render three monitors separately and input total resolution of the three. Also if using Eyefinity, you must set up "Display Group".

My screens are at 20" and 45 degrees side angle. All are viewed "face on" and iRacing set a 156 degree FOV. Everything in driving environment is true size/position, no distortion.

  • I am setting up a system using three Dell monitors and Sapphire 5870 card with Eyefinity. I can only get 2 monitors to work at once. On the graphics page, only 1 and 2 can be managed. The 3rd shows but when I select it it says I can only enable it if I disable one of the others. Not sending three signals I guess. In Control Panel I see all 3 monitors but the 3rd has a more basic icon. On the monitor it says that the computer is not sending a signal. All three do work independently.Any ideas?

  • @richsd1 plug 1 into the dp via an adapter and run the other 2 through dvi, see if that helps

  • I hope one of your three monitors is a display port monitor, or the setup wont work without some kind expensive annoying adapter.

  • next time when a crash like that happens just keep running and basically ignore it. if you brake, you just might lock them up and understeer straight into it

  • The crash was a "made for TV" moment coordinated over Ventrilo through Club members. My incident count is among the three lowest in two IndyCar leagues; lots of crash avoidance practice hehe. The bigger danger of braking for crashes is being hit from behind.

  • This is about simulation video, not real world racing technique. I don't take the time to do this and help other iRacers to come here and have people pick fights with me.

  • You might also watch all my videos, including the ones where I use my real name. Do some research on the name, and see if you might infer that I would or would not know a thing or two about real-world racing.

  • @tbhausen well since i don't have that kind of time just message it to me. And if you are a real racer then you might want to consider a racing school were you actually learn how to do all the advanced stuff. Plus im not picking a fight by saying what i said originally, i was just giving some advice that you didn't have to take nor reply to so no offense to any of this

  • Come on man really? Iam not saying you dont know what your doing BUT! the way that you are comming across to many of us that race in real life or those of us who race only in simulation is pretty messed up! Iam NOT judging here friend but theres no need to have such a screwed up attitude.I myself am a huge Jeff Gordon fan,but Iam not Jeff Gordon! If your really that good, why not be yourself as a person and a racer instead of hiding behind someone who would never talk to us like that!

  • Fantastic!

  • im so upset i wasted my money on a stupid projector. the tripple monitor setup is absolutely where it's at. awesome.

  • pure JOY! This is the coolest thing i've seen in a long time. Multi-screen gaming is finally becoming mainstream and reasonably affordable!

  • It is joy... so much more fun and immersive to race with this setup.

  • Looks awesome Todd, I need to come over to your house now :)

  • That looks so amazing..!

I notice that your monitors are placed at a certain angle to each other, but there is no distortion. Does that mean that iRacing allows you to configure the angle between the monitors? And, what's the highest FOV iRacing supports? Does it look weird if you use like 160 or 180 deg?

    Thanks!

  • You input things like the distance from you to the screen, screen width, and the angle between the monitors. It then sets everything up to make the view as realistic as possible. Each screen really does become a window into the iRacing world. You can tweak the FOV very easily to suit yourself though.

There is a frame rate hit, but it's worth it. I dropped from 50**x1050 to 40**x900 in order to use the iRacing way of setting up 3 screens, and I don't regret the loss of resolution.

  • That's a 156 degree FOV, which puts everything at its correct size and position. There's no distortion all the way out to the max of 179 degrees.

  • Awesome! :D Thanks for your replies guys. Three monitors is the way to go, no doubt! And with Eyefinity it has become far more accessible and affordable too.

  • What monitors are you using, size and model? Seems like 24" is a good size but I can't find a good stand that will hold multiple 24" monitors.

  • Dell P2310H. They're great for gaming and under $200 when on sale and you can find coupon code. You need to order each one separately, though LOL.

  • Oh, my monitors are on their own stands on a custom cockpit I built which is essentially a desktop with two 45 degree "wings".

  • Thanks very much. Usually drive in the real world at Road America and now trying to make sure that my iRacing experience is as close to that as possible. Thanks for the help. I hear from a tech guy at iRacing that TripleHead2Go is a pretty good and easy way to get this triple monitor thing working. Is this what you use?

  • How did you place your steering wheel in relation to the monitors? Do you have a cockpit?

I'm thinking about making some kind of monitor stand which would bring the middle screen as close as possible to the wheel, so I'm a bit curious to see what other people are doing. :)
