  • nice!

  • EXTREME!

  • This is really cool. Looks stunning.

  • The name of the song if Por Ti Volare. This version is the one with Sarah something. :) search it up. Andrea Broccili is the guy's name i think

  • good work, i like it. If you are interested in more motion pictures you can find a mystical animation from a solar eclipse to a sunset above the sea on my account. I would appreciate if you visit.

    Greetings

  • WONDERFULL! :D

  • Did you use actual mars footage or did you all that in after effects?

  • NICE work very good !!!

  • great job making an epic 1 minute film! i think you pulled it off very well

  • Hey did you have scott baker for your teacher?

  • graphics were nice..

  • 0:33 looks like the part on the first level of Halo 3!

  • 0:33 looks like the begining of Halo 3.

  • I composed a soundtrack for your video... see...

  • this video had an impact on me when i saw it a few years ago. it motivated me to do after effects :D

when i heard this song in step brothers, i immediately thought of this video :)

  • the comet was 3d!!! so not only after effects was used?

  • EPIC!@@$#()$*#(*$&#(*$&#*$#

  • haven't listened to that song in a while...

also great video although all i can compare it to is other poorly made after effects that people posted

  • I must say that this was awesome :O I would piss my pants if you wanted to teach me to do this :) reply please :D

  • 5 star omf

  • Song is also what Brennan huff sings Aka will ferrel on step brothers

  • did u use a 3D program or only After Effects?

  • amazing. plain and simple.

  • por ti volare!

  • holy shit! i had my speakers up and my sub was rumbling like a mofo at the end.......

  • i remember when i first discovered after effects in summer 2008 and i was astounded by how you made this, although now its way more clear, this video is still awesome and im loving mars 2 aswell

  • how did you create this if you would like to share thanks.. that will be helpful i have same kind of assignment .. thanks

  • Con Te Partiro!!!!

  • Impressive! U shud work at hollywood!!

  • that was awesome!

  • the explosion it's easy :) from where you get the meteor and the NASA robot xD and this flying effect is so cool :) AWESOME WORK !!!! Can you make a tutorial for this video :)

  • That is extremely well done; i have been using AE for over a year and believe me, ladies and gentlemen - that would be very time consuming to make.

  • wow u earned urself a sub :) 5/5

  • yup that can be the earth when a comet strikes us

  • Hey man that video was cool.did you use learn how to do that by a tutorial

  • tutorial please!!!!!!

  • How did you do the final explosion? tools and such, cause i need something like that in my next movie

  • great!

  • WHAT SONG???

  • How did you make the flickering light around the asteroid at 0:21?

  • this is fantastic, very impressive :D

How did you make the at 0:11 seconds (the first time you see it) I've tried taking a rocky texture and using the CC Sphere plugin, but this makes it horribly perfectly circular!

    Thanks, Gully

  • James you will be worth a million dollars I cant wait to see the new production of the nuclear aftermath epic. Keep doing what your doing and we will see your name on hollywood productions soon enough

  • how did you do the meteor?

  • That was awesome!

  • i love you!!!

thasts is the best video of a meteor....

  • Fantastic! Well Done :D

  • music?????

  • good work jimmy, looks like a lot of work but it looked good in the end

  • This is wonderful! The Sarah Brightman fits well, too!

  • You must of used a 3D program for the meteor at least. The view of the whole planet could of been in After Effects, but the landscapes are either pictures that you made into 3D shots, or completely 3D inside a 3D program. Either way, TELL ME YOUR SECRETS! :D

  • this is all in after effects?!?!

  • Impressive. I've done a little bit of work with Trapcode but I can never get it to look real. Getting the lighting correct is quite the challenge.

Oh, and Mars does have an atmospere, it's just not as thick as Earth's.

  • i swear i cant get my trappcode particular to work for shit. im trying to make a meteor and it says the fire starter preset was "made on a later version" when ive seen my friends make them with the same version

  • dude, the meteor can't burn because mars doesn't have atmosphere

  • Mars does have an atmosphere, do some research.

  • Great, 5* , but man , help the beginners like me with a tutorial !

  • dude you need to make a tutorial!!! :0

  • the clouds of the impact part is too stable and needs more movement.... but it was a great composition. Nice work Keep it up! Andrew Kramer Rocks! =D

  • Haha, there arent any pieces in this by Andrew Kramer...but thank you....I think?.... =P

  • This is great! I too would like to know the name of the song. Did you use Trapcode Particular?

  • Hey. The song's name is: Andrea bochelli - Andrea bocelli & sarah brightman - Por ti volare

  • Trapcode particular form part of the final explosion and the meteor trail

  • Bro, you have got to make a tutorial.

  • a meteor that size would probably destroy at least half the planet, as well as that poor little rover:(

    R.I.P. Rover

  • did you use only AE or did you use a 3d program as well?

  • Looks like that little thing could burn up in the atmosphere... but meh,who knows

  • So no planet to escape from end of the earth hahahaha

  • Nice.

  • DAMMMM!!!!

its soo good video + the music !!

    good job ;)

    10/10

  • You know the name of the song? I have heard it so many times before, but I just can't recall the name...

  • nice work...im really struggling with creating a meteor. was the meteor spinning done in AE? if so how did you get it to rotate.

  • Incredible video :). Congratulations. I forgot the name of this song, will somebody help me? Please...

  • good job man!

  • that was great bro

masterpiece and the music totally suited it

u should post a tutorial lol

  • what grade did you get ;)

  • vue 6?

  • Nice video

  • That was unbelievable, I cant do jack on my after affects.

  • cool looking animation :>

  • Is your name Jimmy Holster or James Stewart?

  • my name is james stewart, my id is jimmyholster

  • Where did you get jimmyholster from? :)

  • awsome video

  • Holy shit awesome!

  • Andrea Bocelli.

    Beast.

  • Im still a begginer, how did you make the end shockwawe?

  • just a circle mask expanded out, it is a 3d layer also

  • EPIC! lol.

  • Wow ! An excellent work !

  • this vid is so beast

  • Maybe possible early intelligent life was die on Mars by a disaster like this?

  • holy motherfucking shit holy cow fuckingdickhead FUCK! this is NICE! PERFECT! AMAZING! GODLIKE!

  • Very nice. How did you do the 3Ds of the asteroid?

  • Outstanding

  • This is incredible!

  • no at 0:28

  • Basically a picture of mars, keyfraed to move from top to bottom, a noise layer set to "screen mode", for the clouds, and a pic of the asteroid moving from bottom to top, with trapcodes "particular" used for the smoke particles (really should redo that effect, never liked it). Oh i often set the "POI" on the camera to a slight wiggle, to give the raw handheld footage effect.

  • I'm too drunk to taste this chicken..

  • how did you do the fly over mars scene

  • Which part? the side view one where th flare is around the asteroid?

  • lets say 0-8 ??

  • The 0-8 section was just two images, scaled up accordingly and keyframed to move passed eachother. Very simple but effective =D

  • That wuz very nice :)

  • OMG dude! thats amazing, wich plugin did you use?

  • Two plugins were used, CC sphere for the planet, and Trapcode particular for the smoke and parts of the explosion

  • haha woah dude that was actually pretty good

  • only america can go mars...

only ussr russia can go venus...

no need russia with america to mars...

    NO NO russia

  • ONLY america can copy...

  • huh?

  • what kind of copy

  • best ;)

  • great stuff.. love to get my hands on the project file

  • haha so would i, all the bits and pieces i used to make it are scattered across 3 hard drives now haha

  • Very nice work

  • i need a tutorial to make planets and solar system stuff

  • Beautiful.

  • Excellent, totally amazing.. subscribing now

  • This is not only after effects. this is 3d plus a particle emitter composited in after effects. Confuses people who want to learn.

  • ummmm no, this IS after effects, but as i have mentioned earlier, the only 3d part used was the asteroid in the first 2 scenes. and the particles are from Trapcode's particular, an After effects plug-in.

  • ok, the asteroid is 3D, so the mars shots and the rover are stills then, right? Trapcode looks like Combustion. I assume it costs extra. I'll have to look it up.

  • ive never had the chancec to get into combustion yet, i got steered onto Trapcode when i started using after effects, so kind of just stayed with them. But yeah, its mainly stills put into a 3D environment within after effects, its not complicated by any stretch.

  • If you think Trapcode looks like combustion you seriously need to get your eyes checked. combustion is far more realistic. But I prefer Trapcode over combustion because you can instantly see what you're creating, with combustion you first need to render it out (which can take a while).

  • that was beautiful...I haven't seen a video so well done from after effects

  • very nice job do you know where to download after effects ?

  • 1 minute??

     thats fucking good!!!

  • fan fricken tastic!!! nice work dude!!!!

  • Nice!!!

  • finally a good work

  • bravo

  • after effects my furry friend

  • I love the little rover.

  • and he loves you ;P

  • great great man i love it 5/5

  • that is fantastic, good job

  • man u got some mad skills

  • what song is that?

  • This is such great work!

    Hope you post more!

    Five stars for sure......

    Eloy

  • dont like the meteor tale

    the rest is ok

  • awesome!

  • "5 Seconds over 1 minute! 50 marks off!"

That's what my teachers would say :(

  • I would love to have a tutorial to how you made it ;)

I suck with particle systems so I can't figure it out myself. XD

Or do you have a link to a tutorial on how to do it? :P

  • honestly i didnt have any tutorials to work off of, just kept tinkering till it looks alright.I wanna make a HD version, think that would be cool, longer and with more camera angles

  • Excellent!!

  • Awesome!! You made this using Adobe After Effects?

  • yeah, 98% after effects

  • Nice video!

What did you use to make the meteor? It looks like a 3D render. :o

And what particle plugin did you use? Trapcode or CC ? :P

  • asteroid is 3dsmax, the rest is all after effects and photoshop, and yes trapcode particular was used =D

  • U ROCK! my god that was so good xD

  • Such a nice video!.. I love it, so much inspiration and .. just WooW!.. its fantastic

    What programs did u use?

  • Used a program called "After effects", used for motion graphics etc.

  • thats pretty good. what tafe do you go to?

  • Swinburne wantirna

  • no sound effects of the meteor rushing through the sky

  • at the speed that thing was travellin you wouldn't hear it anyway...way passed the speed of sound.

  • There,s Usually no Atmosphere In Mars So There Are,nt Sound Vibrations Or Sound Waves...

  • yh well what ever, i thought that was amazing.

    well done!

  • "usually no atmosphere"?!

wtf man are you moronic, mars has stable atmosphere of 0.006x pressure that of Earth's, but sound can still be heard.

And also, you can hear something that goes over the speed of sound, were you on an airshow? The noise from the supersonic airccraft is very loud it just arrives a split second after you see the plane.

  • oh well im sorry im not a doucheshit geek like u

  • chillax peeps, I can only assume that because the meteor was hoping sooo fast, for such a long time, that any sound that was traveling behind it may have dissipated before it reached us, being that the meteor is probably traveling at around 5-6000kmh, and sound travels at around 1238kmh....dunno, not a scientist, i just like big explosions =P

  • amazing dude the opening scene with the fly by of the land scape into that drop was unreal very very good how the hell did u do that..... and for those people asking what the song is called "Con Te Partiro" By adrea Bocelli in english its "time to say goodbye"

  • FInally! Thank you so much for the name of the song!

  • what is the song name???

  • @OfficialRisingStar

Time To Say Goodbye in English, but is really called Con Te Partiro or something.

  • Partirò - Andrea Bocelli

  • omg that was awesome. did you only use after effects?

  • for everything except the actual asteroid in the flyby scene, 3dsmax for that, but there is no reason you couldn't use after effects for that too.

  • did you just use still images that you found and add effects and plugins etc? Ive been trying learn AE for about a week and I dont understand how you could make something that good with it!

  • Oh woaw! woaw! woaw! woaw! woaw! woaw!

  • Bloody Marvelouse, i'm loving the mars rover in the foreground, as the astroid passes by. One of the best Impact scenes i've seen, plus very realistic.

  • powerful! and yes down with apples!

  • Damn you apples! always trying to ruin our good time! =D

  • Are you a god at after effects?

  • haha hell no! but I do appreciate the compliments. Really pissed of because my stoopid uni is using Apple Motion now.....utter turd of a program. So I basically go home and do all my homework on After Effects =D

  • It looks like its real high def footage with after effects.

  • Very nice! I especially dug the bassy rumble at the end. One minor nit, the sky around the setting sun on Mars is actually kind of bluish. It would have made good color contrast to the yellow-orange explosion in the scene.

  • omg... wow

  • WOW !

    Thats really epic !
