This is the version I remember from my hapless youth, though it was apparently a hit for Alan Price in the mid-60s, & was written & also performed by Newman. The Nilsson version was famous in its own right, though.

@bdicat No, it's on Harry - despite it being a Randy Newman song, it isn't actually on Nilsson Sings Newman (1970), which was recorded and released after Harry (1969). I can imagine it was probably one of the factors that led up to the creation of NSN!
