@waterlily716 I prefer hand sewing edges together with a whip stitch. It makes them neater and less bulky. You can use the slip stitch but it will add extra bulk on the edge.
Hola, ¿alguien me puede decir como se hace el punto prendido en la hebra posterior? Tengo una revista que lleva una colcha que me gusta mucho pero el punto es ese y no se como se hace, gracias
What pattern is the purple square? Did you show that one and I missed it???? I really like it and I have some yarn I think would look good done like that.
@jlvking I don't believe I have shown the purple one yet but it one on my list of square. I will send you the playlist for all the squares that I have posted.
Hola Teresa un enorme saludo y quisiera preguntarle ,las puntadas de los cuadros que esta juntando en el video estan aqui en youtube?y con que nombre puedo encontrarlos?atte diana
I have to thank you soooo much for this video...I taught myself how to crochet just this April 2009. And Ive done 64 blocks and was a little embarrassed about asking advanced crochers how to put them together...this is awesome!!! Now I know where to come for ideas!
You are welcome. Don't ever be afraid to ask. You can ask me any time. I know there are a lot of other great crocheters on the Internet that are willing to help.
Thank you soooo much for this video! I am making a blanket for my friends wedding in august, and well, my grandmother taught me to crochet, but i never learned how to join squares, and she is no longer here to teach me, lol. my close friend taught me to granny square, but she lives farther away from me. Keep posting great, informative videos, I will keep watching. =) ~Sarah~
That would be a lot of blocking. I know that most instructions on yarn say not to iron but I have ironed yarn before with a pressing cloth between the iron and the yarn. That is just an option to keep in mind if you ever need to iron yarn. I have not really ironed yarn much but I have done it.
Theresa, your videos are so wonderful. I have made over 40 sets of hats and gloves in the past two months as well as several "v" stitch scarves all thanks to your wonderful (and therefore easy) instructions! (they are for Christmas presents to my family and homeless shelters) Thank you. Don't ever quit!
You have been very busy. I am sure that especially this year that there is a big need for warm items at the homeless shelters. I don't plan on stopping any time soon.
I have never blocked the square of an afghan. The purpose of blocking is for crochet lace. Sometimes after a doily is crocheted it is very uneven. When you lay it out, your doily may be lumpy and wavy. With some starch and water, you can stretch the doily, let it dry and it will lay flat.
You are welcome. You could use this instead of sewing them together. It will leave a little ridge. It is not that noticeable and may be something that you will prefer. It does not take much time to sew or slip stitch a square. You could try both next to each other and see what one you like the best.
It is made with the frontpost backpost technique. I was trying to make it look like basketweave but it didn't turn out like like basketweave. It is a pretty and different square.
will this work for circles? i have recently made one-row circles and im hoping this will work because the back of the crochet looks weird

I have crocheted a bunch of flowers and would like to crochet them together. Would you reccommend slip stitching them together?
ToebeGirl 2 years ago
Since they are all separate, you will need to put some sort of edging around each flower. Slip stitching will work to join them together.

You sew them between the stitches.

kaitlindevabear3 2 years ago
The purple one is using the post stitch and the other is using the seed stitch.

Hi Teresa,
I adore the lavender square that you used in this video...do you have a pattern for it? I'd love to try it. Thanks.

I don't have a written pattern or tutorial worked up for it right now. I do plan on doing more squares in the early part of next year.
tjw1963 3 years ago
Thanks Theresa. It is a real pain to block more than hundred squares. I am so relieved now.

HI Theresa thank you for your videos. They are very helpful. I am working on an afghan and was wondering if it is important to block the squares?
Thanks,

I was wondering what stitch you used for the front square we see on the video, the colourful one... I love it.
This is such a clear video! Thanks again Teresa... Louisa

Hi Theresa, thanks for posting this stitch. Could this be used as a substitute for sewing it by needle instead? Does the slip stitch leave a ridge?
craftyvg 3 years ago
You are welcome. You could use this instead of sewing them together. It will leave a little ridge. It is not that noticeable and may be something that you will prefer. It does not take much time to sew or slip stitch a square. You could try both next to each other and see what one you like the best.
