  • 5:35 WHOA!!

  • Just beautiful technique right there!

  • very masterful

  • I love the hand movement at 1:43

  • by the end of the week my friend and i will have 7 hours of going hard 10 hours of reps 3.5 hours of new skills shown to us and 3.5 hours of flow drills. then we tend to hit the weights for 4 hours a week, run 12 miles a week and 6 hours of solow drills for cardio and cordination. ontop of this we get 1.5 hours of judo 3 days a week. it is all fun and we love it, i do not have a tv anymore couse it was a distraction lol. GL everyone and one day ill make it out to train with MR. Dean ~nate

  • @natejudoandbjj Awesome schedule... How does work or school fit into that :P

  • i love this for about a 30 min workout. i like how my group operates, the teacher shows 2 to 4 skills each class then for the next hour we roll full speed from the knees. sometimes from the feet. then we have open mat every day of the week. a friend of mine and myself will do this every day really slow no strength. then 2 days a week we spend about 5 hours just reping and looking and the skillset we know and what we want to learn.

  • Roy dean is certanley very at sparring! you can tell he got a very smart game to!

  • My game improved a lot when I found more partners willing to roll at lower intensity, but with a concentrated attention to details and form.

  • The scary thing is that I've kept up and understood every move in this video. Used to be all but incomprehensible to me.

  • flow rolling like this is the only way to improve your technique, yeah it is good to go hard sometimes. like if your on the edge of being promoted and want to show you are ready and you go hard verse someone who is a higher level than you but geeze you get dicks who watch mma and think all they have to do is spaz out. i don't learn anything because there base is terrible they are easy to sweep and easy to catch and sub. i love flow rolls

  • Brad is much younger than me but he rolls same way. Using well his strenht and weight. Looking the flow of Dean game I saw that was a matter of time to come a finalization. The heavy breaht of Brad was anouncing it. I wish I was not so far from your academy so that I could learn some Aikido to use in my jiujitsu game. At 50 we need some tricks to surprise the oponent and drible the poor conditioning and flexibility. I'll keep watching your videos.

  • Roy Dean your technique is amazing!

  • actually quite relaxing to watch.

  • This is how a flow/light roll should look like. Awesome stuff Roy.

  • This is amazing, I've never seen a video like this - of a match that is so brilliantly technical and relaxed... this is such a high level of skill.

  • I just started my BJJ training I hope I can learn how to do it.

  • @SoloAikido1 anybody can learn Bjj. Just dont quit no matter how much you get your ass kicked.

  • Very nice! I can see the relaxed way of doing the techniques.

  • VERY nice. A true artist.

  • this is by far the best interpretation of what brazilian jiu jitsu is. the display you both have is amazing.

  • really smooth nice

  • that was nice : )

  • Great!!

  • putting everything is slowmo is the way.. Osu!

As usual thanks for the great posts. !

  • that little guy jimmy with the no hair is a MEEEAN roller on this vid check him out

  • roy dean is got a great academy u can see in how he trains his students he knows what he's doing

  • so hard to find people who will roll like this.

i hate bickering over a wrist or an arm. you cant learn anything.

  • hell yes man even if you ask ur partner to go 40% the go 110% and that forces you to folllow suit and then ur gased early

  • well its hard. instinctually you wanna pry as hard as you can when someone has your head or arm.

at the begining of class, when you are just drilling, drill a few times on both sides. when its his turn again. start throwing in a few obvious counter-moves. dont get in his way, allow him to complete whatever you are drilling. keep doing this and invite him to respond but whenever it gets too intense just be like "ok. from the beginning."

  • thats how you learn to give and take and anticipate whats coming.

like during guard pass drills. work on the best way to minnimize his advantage in sidecontrole.

turn on the side and arm in throat. ya know whatever. work on what happens next, how to best react. just be gentle move at the pace he is moving at and dont press only respond. he will eventually take the que.

  • yeah...i hear ya pal....do u train...white belts...people who havent trained for long...thats what ya get,...i havent been training for too long....but i always want to to train with people better than me so i keep learning...constant, u know....i never complain...ever,

  • @10000wingsformarie i agree 100%. its called an art for a reason.i like roys style of more of a "yeilding" jiu jitsu as opposed to a wrestling or forceful way of rolling.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Just Amazing!!!!

  • Always good to have a rolling session full of learning opportunities with my honorable friend Roy Dean. We have had many over the years.

  • as graceful as a ballet...

  • beautiful armbar! much respect to both these men

  • Nice flowing with good give and take. This is the secret to good technique and LONGEVITY.

  • i agree i like this style of roll it a very useful learning tool instead of going full bore where you mix up so many positions and get confused. Reall good but all depends on the school i guess.

  • something my instructor says is "smooth is fast" those 3 words changed the way i see jiu jitsu and it seems the longer i train the more understanding i can get out of them.

  • Very nice, it was smooth just what you would expect from 2 people that are as good as them.

  • six year ago I was a competent kickboxer that wanted to learn the ground. I was attending UCSD and found out a man named Brad Hirakawa taught jiu jitsu. I decided to enroll in the course. For years he spent coutless hours honing my bjj game. Although I've had to move to another teacher. I will always be thankful to Brad for all the time he has given me over the years.

  • i liked that shoulder crawl at the end very nice. i want to try it, i know its hard to do at that position but very good to releave pressure.

  • Ahhh... if only I could get the younger and stronger guys at the dojo to relax and go at it with such attention to the details. Really excellent footage.

  • I love grappling with advanced belts for this reason. They are soooo relaxed and utilize nothing but technique.

  • YES. I wish my rolling sessions were more like this. I'm a beginner, and I always have to beg other beginners to go at a measured pace--flow and positioning over power and mania. Great to watch Prof Dean anytime.

  • ARTE SUAVE.

  • I saw the arm lock at the end coming a mile away. Excellent vid

  • Very nice..

  • You're both so relaxed, very impressive.

  • Wow! I'm literally Speechless. Absolutely incredible

  • Nice.

  • So much technique. I only hope I can one day roll at that level. Excellent vid.

  • nice rolling :)
