  • Im going to go with Christian and Muslim. I think they agree with the lessons of Islam based on Bawa's teachings, but Christ is their prophet not muhammed.

Like the lyrics " Isa Jahula Alhais salat wa salaam, la illaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar.

Why praising God/Allah, there is no Muhammed, but instead Isa (Jesus).

  • my Computer Apps teacher looks like the main singer!

  • la dispute is to mewithoutYou as a flashlight is to the Sun.

  • 26 people are weird!

  • Comment removed

  • For anyone who is looking at mewithoutYou because of a comparison to LA dispute, you are listening to the wrong mewithoutYou. The songs they sound most alike are from mewithoutYous a to b life album, with songs like bullet to binary, the gentlemen, the cure for pain, etc. look those up. LA disputes similar in a number of ways.

  • La ilaha ilallah

  • looked these guys up b/c of all the comparisons to La Dispute, these guys have a similar style to la dispute but don't sound as good (meaning the musical instruments not the singers voice) and lyrics leave a lot to be desired.

  • Sounds like he's about to fall asleep

  • This song means so much to me.

  • they are a Christian band, they play at cornerstone every year and preach on stage...

  • what a beard.

  • Amazing.... These guys are phenomenal. Their imagery is striking.

  • I don't believe in God but I don't think it matters what your faith is in order for you to enjoy this music... And these guys aren't a Christian band. Two of them are Muslims of Jewish descent! You don't have to be Christian to use Christian imagery, and faith shouldn't matter when it comes to enjoying music.

  • @SenorSlopez "sweater poorly knit" uses only old testiment references, meaning its jewish too.

  • @SenorSlopez Actually, my brother, that is not entirely true. Aaron and Mike Weiss' mother is Sufi-Muslim and their dad is Jewish, but they themselves are Christians. Aaron has mentioned his conversion in multiple interviews. However, many Sufi teachings have become a deep part of Aaron's faith. Aaron has said though that this band is not about talking about Christ or preaching Christianity in an Evalangelical sense, but to point towards the forgiveness and love of the Creator.

  • Comment removed

  • @SenorSlopez Haha, actually, they're not Muslims of Jewish descent. They're parents were Sufi and Jewish... So that's where a lot of the teachings come from. I don't really even call them Christian myself. They're mainly focused on YHWH in general and teachings about him.

  • @SenorSlopez Their parents are muslim converts. Aaron is a Christian in the aspect that he puts Jesus Christ as the main. Check his interviews and what not. However, he is not the cliche Christians we see today. And yes your right. Enjoyable music is for everybody.

  • All you wondering about his religious veiws should check out his wiki, I mean that pretty obvious, but it will answer all your petty disputes.

  • If you like mewithoutyou then you might like As Cities Burn. Search them. They are hands down my favorite band ever and will always will be. At a point of view I find them similar to these guys. Think its the emotion in the lead singers of these two bands voices maybe.

  • @UberGwonam dude, if you saw these guys live you wouldn't think they were lame. they make Christian music great. BTW what about As I Lay Dying and Norma Jean, and Thrice? their music is spiritual and Christian and they're F-n amazing. I know where you're comin from, most Christian music isn't rockin and is in fact quite corny

  • i dont know about this video. its pretty gay

  • Aaron is more poetic than the lyricist from System of a Down. And he makes alot more sense.

  • 3:03 reminds me a little bit of nirvana. i might be a bit crazy, but i still think this is great!

  • FUCK FUCKING YOUTUBE COMMERCIALS!!!! LET US WATCH VIDEOS!!!

  • im not christian and i feel more connected then anyone

im not against believing god i just am against trying to force it upon other people i dont try to make you not believe in god you know? any ways check out my cover of silencer by mwy

  • @TheNeverSpoil believing God doesnt make you a Christian. Satan believes in God.

  • This man has truly found God. It brings me to tears every time I watch him, knowing I could never do the same.

  • this band reminds me so much of placebo

  • @ODoyle8D eh

  • @ODoyle8D whoa, what the fuck. mewithoutyou and placebo are my two favorite bands behind AFI... im not sure how you relate these guys. haha.

  • @fuktard82 then why come on here?

  • @fuktard82 a 4-minute and 17-second long fart is actually a really good band.

  • he looks like a jeeeeew :D

  • Such an incredible and powerful song. Shame their last album was so soft in comparison.

  • The lead singer clearly loves heroin.

  • now im not religious or anything but the songs these guys write are just like insane either religious or not religious this is good music and i think that no matter what aaron practices you should still commend the man on just pure good music. and when i first started listening to these guys i never thought there words to be religious but whatever!

  • @dylanfx67 same here, you can take his lyrics and apply them to anything really. I'm agnostic and I fucking loooove this band. the melodies. the words. the words. the words. the passion in aarons voice. he makes it impossible not to love mewithoutyou.

  • I love the passion in aarons voice too. Remember the passion in aarons voice is Jesus, There is so much hope in Jesus, you should check out some Ravi Zacharias videos

  • i find it funny that people speak of Jews & Muslims as if it is a race of people. the people of Israel are not Jews...they are Israeli. people whom embrace Judaism are Jews. most Muslims are of Middle Eastern Decent. they practice Islam and are Muslim in their faith. but to add to the point previously mentioned, Aaron Weiss is a Christian...no matter the ancestry of his family. a sweet sweet man (i mean that in the most heterosexual way possible), haha

  • This is absolutely terrible. Needs more GWAR.

  • @Walkintallv lol

  • I just discovered this band today and read the lyrics. (Also not religious like a lot of other people in the comments) So, to answer some people's thoughts, Aaron doesn't consider this to be a Christian band, as he stated in an interview. But the lyrics are absolutely amazing religious lyrics. As a musician myself, I say to take it how you will. You can feel this deeply about anything while listening to a song like this.

  • This video cures all the darkness in me. When I am not living fully in love and gratitude to God, Aaron and mwY reminds me His Love is always Real and Present.

There is something mystical in the way these guys and their extended community of friends have embraced Life and God in the city of Philly.

This video is a beautiful tribute to them and their lives.

  • I am in no way religious. But, mewithoutYou is fucking amazing. Although they sing about God and religion, I really feel the lyrics of their songs have much deeper things to say than just about how much they love God.

    Great band or greatest band?

  • Does it really matter what religion Aaron is? The music I think should be the most important thing about mewithoutYou. They're an amazing, inspirational, breath-taking band, so let's not fight about what we believe to be true, let's just enjoy (:

  • i'm atheist and i can still enjoy this band. they're straight beasts

  • @nlow21 straight up BEASTS! no jokeee

  • The lead singer is half Muslim and half Jewish. And you know what? With that short beard always present and the fact that he looks like a chabad rabbi, the idea that theyre christian is silly. Old Testament =/= Jesus

  • @TapeDispenser101 dude, you really need to read about bands, or hear Aaron weiss speak- he's a disciple of the GOSPEL. So the idea that they aren't Christian is the silly thing homie.

  • @TapeDispenser101 and btw- the Old Testament = Jesus. Prophets like Isaiah, Amos, and Joel spoke of the Messiah to come and from the line of David bringing the New Covenant, that is about Jesus Christ.

  • @TapeDispenser101 actually Aaron's mother was Episcopal and his father was Jewish and converted to Sufism (which is a sect of Islam) so if you are going to say he is half one and half the other it would be Christian and Jewish.

  • @TapeDispenser101 I've read he used to be Jewish but went Christian on multiple websites. I think he's half Christian and half Muslim. He doesn't have the beard anymore either. But I could be wrong about the Christian thing.

  • this band is awesome

  • this looks like north philly hahaha

  • I'm wondering if this video was shot in Philly seeing as that is where they are from. I just got back from there and the city behind him looks familiar.

  • yes i elive its philly

  • Anyone here ever heard of Columbus Horizon?

  • i wish michael weiss would have been my music teacher when i was in school

  • He's not a hippy he's Freegan

  • lol the guy in this video, i think hes either playin guitar or base, haha mr weiss, hes our music teacher lol he has a picture of his band on the wall XD i cant believe he has his own music video, i never heard mewithout before i meant him

  • sorry mr weiss "mewithoutYou" lol

  • theyre so freakin weird i love it!

  • so i was thinking about mewithoutYou's name....

like what's the significance of the You being capitalized?

does it mean me without God?

  • yes

  • @emilyjimalee yeah.

  • I love everything about this...especially the "hippy free dancing"

  • the religious part is what makes it beautiful. Its not something to "get over" but something to contemplate and appreciate. That faith in something better inspired men to make something better.

  • This band is so beautiful that I can get over the religious and appreciate the feel to it. mewithoutYou is awesomesauce

  • when i think of jesus i always imagine him looking like aaron weiss

  • my Computer Apps. teacher looks like the main singer!

  • these guys are legit. all the dancing is just straight up free worship

  • If you like this, you should lookup the song 1983 by the band Medical Center. It's a pretty amazing band.

  • Like the fruity little dance the lead singer does through the whole video haha. Good song though

  • @metalmexicanmosh LOL agreed

  • ya its just hippy free dancing. its probably how David used to dance. I half wish i could be open with myself enough to do it.

  • reminds me a lot of butthole surfers to be honest

  • Two Words....Gary Jules

  • Seeing mewithoutyou live is life changing. i recommend every one of you do it

  • Comment removed

  • he makes me nervous walking so close to that wall

  • This is what music is supposed to be about. Look at the way Aaron moves. He doesnt focus on the words he feels them. That is why I believe they seem spoken. And as for not taking believe in God seriously you are correct. People dont beleive in God becuase they want to it is becuase they are afraid not to.

  • This guy's a friggin' poet.

  • @TMisthename132 listen to their two newer cd's, more singing..

  • @TMisthename132

it's called spoken word, because the lyrics are the focus. and he technically is singing, granted, it's not great singing, but more so than most popular music these days.

  • yeah, even if you don't believe in Christianity they are make good music, with the talent they have. So they're not wasting potential. actually if you even more if you dont believe because just the fact that they make good music. if you dont believe in Christianity then what is the potential for rather than making good music

  • agreed

  • @portablewalrus What did they lose by being a christian band? I'm just curious because I don't subscribe to their particular brand of faith but I still find their music very effective.

  • Passive fuck? I don't subscribe to anything other than logic. I just think they are talented and that the lyricist is pretty creative. You on the other hand are a fool, just a slave to the "super cool liberal" fuck religious people dogma. I'm an atheist and an avid reader of Sagan. I'm also the kind of guy that would fuck your world to pieces.

  • @iamkilroy how would you fuck someones world to pieces.

  • @ChristianHalovids I would grab their world and fuck it with my cock until it broke into pieces. I don't really know it just sounded like a hard ass thing to say.

  • "When they ask for the sign of the Father in you, tell them it's movement, movement, movement... and repose."

I am in love with these guys. It's so obvious how on fire for Christ Aaron is. The way he moves is beautiful.

  • @MoldySalsa stop calling him beautiful hes a fucking dude! lmao and on fire for christ?! its people like you who keep christian music lame!!

  • @TheDallyLama Oh, awesome.

I said the way he moves is beautiful.

And who says MEN can't be beautiful?

God, what crawled up your ass?

  • @MoldySalsa sorry :/

its just i cant look at a video of this band without someone making a christianity reference or some chick calling a guy "beautiful". it gets annoying lol

  • @MoldySalsa Uh, isn't he a Muslim? Or a Jew or something? Pretty sure I read not too long ago that he doesn't consider himself a Christian nor is mewithoutYou in anyway a Christian band.

I remember him saying that his music is just as much about Christianity as it is about Islam and Judaism...but then again he may have just been making that up, he's a pretty bizarre guy.

  • @BipolarBomber he became a christian

  • @BipolarBomber He has asperger's. And if he was Jewish then I don't understand why he would mention Christ in any of his songs. But I guess that wouldn't really matter. It wouldn't make a lot of sense but yeah.

  • @MoldySalsa raised with the teachings of islam

  • @nerdanimol1006 Well. He says in 'Carousels', "Christ, if You're ready to come back, then I think I'm ready for You to come back, then I think I'm ready for You to come back. But if You want to stay wherever exactly it is You are, that's ok, too. It's really none of my business."

  • @MoldySalsa awesome/ he accepts the fact that there is no one way to divinity/ which makes what you quoted so much more powerful/ i haven't heard the first 2 albums yet/ definitely getting on that tonight/ hahahahah

  • @MoldySalsa christ?/ ...not exactly

  • @MoldySalsa

does this mean when someone asks you if you know who Jesus is, tell them he is Love because it's the movement?

  • i was dead then alive

  • you cant dissprove religion it never was proven. thats why its called faith

  • Love your screen name. A Modest Mouse fan and a mewithoutYou fan...you'z the man!

  • a true follower of jesus christ, would understand God's ways are about free will, love, and a life by faith. not a rigid system full of rules and arguing points, let alone putting others down for their beliefs. arguing God's word is an oxymoron i always say.

  • There is no god, but this song is awesome. I love it wrenches our hearts about the poverty in this world.

  • Such a good song!

  • man that guy is hot

  • this song is amazing. so unique and fresh...

but the comments are a huge fail. i love how the same people have been arguing for two months about God and their beliefs. everyone has their opinions about how they view Him, so other people just live with it and don't go rampaging about how your views are better.

reminds me of that one lyric from a protest the hero song...

"theres a U and I in union, but just an I in our beliefs"

but yeah awesome song, awesome band.

  • @Geetarguy4 A plateful of our dead?

  • @NecroRG yep thats right

  • just because these guys have the rational capacity to tackle religious/ethical arguments doesn't by virtue of itself mean the average youtuber does.

  • These guys are heavily influenced by the band Jesus Lizard

  • Pretty good song.

    Pretentious video.

  • well put, I was just searching for that thought

  • these guys seem like they would be fun to hang out with, any one know what city this was filmed in?

  • love this band so much. I have a lot of respect for Aaron

  • yeah, stop the stupid arguing, please. it turns people away from Christ, and is also annoying. Especially with this song being anti apathetic, wasting your time pissing each other off for either entertainment or pride while people are starving. Put your efforts to better use.

  • pride. i agree. there are so many people who connect them self to the modern church and are so concerned about how others perceive them and their actions, when Jesus preached "the forgetting of yourself."

  • why exactly?

is what he stood for so detestable?

  • What is this with people trying to change other people and make them see it there way. Its almost like they have to prove there beliefs to someone us so they can believe it themselves. No one views this life the same. The best thing to do is accept people and they will back.

  • lol @ comment arguements.

  • Can't we just enjoy music!? Let it rest!!! :) Love one another~

  • Christianity isn't one solid thing, It's all in the hearts and minds of the believers, (and unfortunately it's in the wallets of a couple of them). No single argument (especially one on the internet) is going to change the mind of someone who has spent their life toiling away doing "The LORD's work". Give it up and do something more proactive, like planting your own organic garden or something.

  • on a sidenote, don't even tell me for a second that the singer don't smoke the Ganja! I'm not saying that as a negative towards him either, just sayin

  • God is king of everything, christianity is the belief that Christ lived a perfect life and was a perfect image of sacrifice and was risen to show that he overcame death and through him, you will too overcome death and life an eternal life in his presence. i wouldn't exactly call that a cult.

  • Quick question. If jesus was a jew then what does that make christianity? a cult?

  • No, some people prefer to call it Judeo- Christianity in the sense that Christ is the 'King' of the Jews. Jesus was a Jew and he is also God, and God is the King of the Jews.

  • Jesus was a Jew. This has nothing to do with his name. He has been called Jesus Christ numerous times. "Christian" isn't even a term Christ came up with. Christ wanted disciples and/or students to follow his teachings.

  • i wish aaron weiss would realize he's better than the god he sings about.

  • i wish you would realize that you don't have to go around disparaging what people believe in.

  • and menos, i don't believe in not basing beliefs on a religion, but a relationship with christ and i don't have blind faith.

  • you sound like a really smart guy. a person who was consumed by the world and now submits to it instead of the true maker of it. i say it's good to question your beliefs for the purpose of strengthening them. i see in your case, you took your doubts and made them your beliefs. but one day you will bow to God and see your errors as will everyone else. i have faith in my sovereign God. i'll be praying for you.

  • I was deceived greatly, but I overcame it, and hopefully so will you one day. I know of course you will refute that with every fiber of your being, and not even for a second endulge in the possibility of becoming an atheist, but I promise you in time, your mind will ponder it, and in those few moments I encourage you not to fear the attainment of truth and wisdom

  • the attainment of truth and wisdom? atheism does not = truth and wisdom.

  • those things are useless if you don't have an adamant relationship with christ

  • lol, what the hell do you think I'm saying? Do you know how close I was to Christ at one time in my life? I would have conversations with him, crying my eyes out, I was as close as anyone could ever get with Christ, but no longer.

  • so what is it that turned you away? to believe in Christ is to trust in Him even when it's hard to find the answers. some days, i lack answers that i receive much later on in life, but that doesn't mean i let Christ go completely. i know you've probably heard it all before but i just think that some people just don't fight hard enough to stack up the evidence that Christ is right for them. all i know is, Christ has saved me from myself countless times. so i just dont appreciate you slaggin him.

  • I think I just realized that there is as much reason and evidence to believe in Jesus Christ as there is in Zeus, in other words, there is none. It's a nice thought maybe, but that doesn't make it real. God is not necessary for a code of ethics. Humans are smart enough to understand that when you get stabbed, it hurts, therefore I probably wouldn't want to do it to someone else, and vice versa, because if I do it to someone else, they might do it to me, so lets just not stab. That's morality

  • Certain things about greek mythology have been disproven.... therefore all of it is a lie. Certain things about Christianity have not been shot down completely. one man's idea of heaven is another man's idea of hell. a majority of human beings can want something that causes other human beings to suffer ALA racism. it was moral for men to treat others like dirt. it was okay for gladiators to fight to the death for entertainment.

  • evolution is a trial and error process sometimes. Every species, by instinct, strives for survival, so we develop ways of doing so. It's the same with morals, we learn what works and what doesn't, of course there will always be a few who stray from the set path, but that exists in christianity also. As a whole though, people evolve. It was never "ok" for gladiators to fight to the death, maybe for the 1% of sadistic caesars and such, but ask the gladiators if they thought it was ok

  • I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that because in the Bible it says that God placed in man codes written in his heart to know what's right and wrong. but the world is a sinful place, man can easily be strayed to believe that something is right over another. overtime, he will learn to believe w/e is right or wrong based on how the world is and not on truly what is right.

  • wow, you really seem to undervalue humanity and what we're capable of. You speak of humans as if we were cavemen just learning how to make fire. This is humanity we're talking about, the same species that landed on the moon and created some of the most beautiful art and music imagineable. No doubt about it that there is a huge amount of pain and suffering,, war, murder and death in the world, but in the more "advanced" regions and cultures there lies the potential for such an amazing world

  • honestly? i doubt that very much. the world is really a sad and depressing place. especially with how people are so materialistic and focus on outward appearances too much. most people won't like you if you don't like the right band. it's crazy. a lot of people are selfish these days. i have faith in human beings who have faith in Christ. even then, i will be let down countless times. sure, we've built space ships and sent them to the moon but we havent stopped hunger.

  • That's because there are evil people in this planet that have their own agenda, my friend. It does not matter if you're a Christian or a Muslim or an Atheist or Agnostic. All that matter's is that you protect your family from what's going down in a couple of years. Not the rapture, but a hell on earth. I'm a believer in a higher power but man, just be ready or better yet tell everyone spread the word about the New World Order. It's a horrible thing. Peace, everyone. Live Free or Die a slave.

  • we haven't stopped how greedy we are. we haven't stopped rich people from living in their clouds and who refuse to come back down to earth. i mean, there's a lot of things wrong with the world and i already know why. you probably don't and believe it will get better. all i know is, i will continue to live the way Christ has told me to and that is to be loving and kind in every way. thanks for the debate but i don't think we'll be changing any minds tonight.

  • honestly, you just hit the nail on the head. It's exactly because of blind religious followers like you that there is still so much wrong with the world, because you already "know" that the world is doomed so you have given up on it and refuse to try to improve it. Believe me I see things clearly, and it's I who knows why and what must be done. You don't know anything except how to self fulfill prophecy

  • and evolution is random. how can you even say there's a right and wrong? how can a right and wrong be evolved if there was really no right and wrong to begin with? and who knows if the gladiators thought it was okay? maybe they did. and maybe the people in the crowd that it was okay. i mean, hitler convinced men to kill people (whether he said God spoke to him or not) it's clearly written in the Bible you shouldn't kill. a true Christian wouldn't.

  • my point is, w/o Christ, i doubt most people would be kind hearted and treat other people like they would like to be treated. all that has been developed over the years with it's roots in certain religions, one of those being Christianity.

  • oh, and atheists are some of the most selfish people i've ever met. but when someone is a genuine Christian ... my God, it's a true gold mine.

  • I don't think I could disagree with you more. Christian's only care about their cause. As a whole, Christians could care less about protecting earth and the environment, or furthering scientific know-how that advances medicinal technology and can save millions of lives, all they care about is the gospel and waiting for this world to end. There is nothing more selfish in my opinion

  • i think we need to separate political agendas and what it means to be a true Christian. a true Christian wants what is best for the world while we are in it and want what's best for people after it. i don't know what i means to be a true atheist. but i know what it means to be a true Christian and when i find them, i am utterly impressed.

  • lol, this stuff is gold. As if you can speak for all christians.

  • In all fairness, I have no reason to believe you exist either, or anything for that matter. You have to believe something before you can know it.

  • that is the most backwards thing I've ever heard, and you'd be a fool to live your life according to that logic

  • Ummm... Prove me wrong, silly, don't just insult me. Name one thing you know without believing, or one thing you believe but at least seem not to know.

  • it's hard to get pumped up by a song with lyrics that promote the worship of an ancient fairytale. Could you get pumped up by a hard rock song with lyrics about how much Santa rocks? Ya, neither can I

  • That's because you're a shallow, insolent fool whose one-dimensional views don't allow him to understand art. Congratulations jackass.

  • Let me ask you a question. Can a person who grew up as a very devoted Christian, one who went to the same church for over a decade, was in Awana for 5 years, went to wednesday bible study for years, started a christian fellowship group, and became a christian summer camp counselor, who later would decide; after years of education and research, to become an Atheist, be labeled as having a "one-dimensional" view?

  • Yes, because atheism is as every bit illogical as all the major religions. There's no way you can know whether or not there's a god. At least, religious people use faith to justify their views. Atheists pretend to know that there's no god, even though if there were a god, he could make it so that there would be no logical way to prove his (or its) existence. That's why agnosticism is the only logical choice. So yes, you still have a very one dimensional view on the matter...jackass.

  • To be an agnostic in terms of God is to be an agnostic in terms of believing that the Universe was created by a pink cartoon dinosaur with rainbow suspenders, there is no reason to believe or worship in either, so I will not achknowledge either

  • Of course there's no reason to worship, but comparing the idea of a higher being to a pink dinosaur is just childish. Again, thanks...jackass.
