  • No better time for comedies than the 70's/early 80's (except I <3 LUCY, of course). All timeless! Thanks for the memories Mr. Bendict/Mr. Bentley!!

  • He looks gorgeous.

  • It's truly astonishing how convincing his portrayal of Britishness was in the Jeffersons, because this sounds like he's acting American here.

He really must have been a true blue gentleman though. He'll always be the mad painter to me.

  • Loved him everytime he was on the jeffersons. R.I.P.

  • Hey, did they ever discover what caused his death? I read somewhere that his death was under investigation and then no one ever mentione it another time.

  • @TheMidnightBell07 They never really said, but he had a disease called acromegalia and there are many things from the disease that can cause complications and lead to death, so im assuming thats probably what happened.

  • @RetroGirl85 Hey, thanks

  • @RetroGirl85 Acromegaly.

  • @RetroGirl85 - He died of cardiac arrest while sleeping. A neighbor of his was told that by his brother. He was found by his brother dead in bed. There was no foul play though he didn't tell the media the cause of death.

    Not sure why.

  • i love this guy soo sad he died

  • He was brilliant in Spinal Tap. Did Broadway I heard !!! A real comic genius.

  • you mean he ISN'T BRITISH???

  • @diddymuck no pure american lol i thought the same he was such a good actor may he rest in peace

  • @diddymuck Ditto!!

  • This man could do so much with expressions. Truly a gifted actor.

  • So what did he do in the Addams Family? I don't remember him in that movie.

  • He Was Judge Womack The One In The Auction And The Addams Neighbor:)

    RIP Paul...

  • What a talented actor and sweet guy. He is missed.

  • Love it, what a cute story! Thank you for posting it. Peace, Paul.

  • Paul was my sister in laws uncle. I call him uncle Paul. He was so great. Hopefully I'm on my way to following in his footsteps.

  • I had no idea, so sorry to find this out

    RIP 'Mr. Bentley'

  • It came as a pleasant surprise to me some months ago to learn that Paul Benedict had played the "Mad Painter" on Sesame Street, a character I remembered fondly.

    RIP

  • @Akira625 I've only watched The Jeffersons a few times and I'm sure he altered his vocie since I believed his character on the show was British but since I'm sure the voice we heard on the SS number painter films was his, he sure sounds different that he sounds here.

Wonder if he thought much of that in later years?

  • RIP Mr Benedict (Mr Bentley) He was a very nice man

  • Paul, you will be missed. Chicken and Creature will be devastated. See you in the next life.

  • Paul thank you for your killing martinis you made this and past summers on the Chilmark Store porch,.... will miss you =jp=

  • Paul Benedict has moved on up... to a better place. rest in peace sir =)

    /salute

  • Oh Paul, I'd believe anything you said! Already miss the jokes and hugs, guess I always will. Thanks for the laughter.

  • Thanks, made me smile, just like he used to do back in the day. Bless 'im, he looked and sounded pretty darn good here, considering I hadn't seen him in ages. Rest well knowing you will be missed, Paul.

  • RIP
