"Homing soulmass does all the work for him" What's with all the bitching? Aren't you using Fog Ring, which before the patch was ultimate weapon against mages, practically rendering 90% of their magic useless... Soulmass fairly easy to dodge, plus you lose it quite easily. Besides, it's hard to hit good player with the spells, if anything, the definitely nerfed mages in Dark Souls.
@Massacretalitor You missed out on all the previous comments. It's all good, I'll explain it again. I was invaded by more than one mage at that time. Both had Homing Soul Mass and were spamming it. Latency against them was causing ghost hits, even when I dodged, which was nearly one hit killing me. Otherwise I would never consider using the Fog Ring.
Wooden grain ring+ shotel lightning kills them all the time. Roll pass each hit and reap their heart out with my +5 lightning shotel, mages lack poise so my shotel eats them repeatedly.
@luisisskating bro... ive been playing dark souls since the day it has come out and i still play it 2-4 hours a day... it has the highest replayability ive ever experienced besides starcraft 2... amazing game... id say get dark souls but skyrim is also fun but no pvp or online

you pretty much want to roll into the person to dodge them then start attacking, but a good mage would have a 2nd spell ready to spam right after you roll
@MouldyCheesePie Ring of Fog procured from joining the Cat Covenant in Darkroot Garden. It's on the other side of the door near Sif. Talk to the cat Avina and ask to join, you will then be given a ring that, when worn, will teleport you to someones game that is human in that same area and not part of the covenant. You will need to kill I believe 80 people O.o might be less... Incredibly useful though.
@Doomsdayparade substantially less. You get the Ring of Fog by joining the Forest Hunter's covenant, being summoned to defend the forest and killing THREE human invaders. It's not difficult because even I managed :).
Guess that the bows in this game are good for something at least. Unfortunately it's only for stationary targets on precarious cliffs or for seeing the invisible bridges near Seath.

didn't fit in one comment. also, hitting a player with a spell like soul arrow (or a random variety of it) just doesn't work, you wouldn't believe the amount of times i've been backstabbed as a sorcerer, or backstabbed a sorcerer after he/i just missed using a spell. (crystal) homing soul mass is pretty much the only decent sorcery for pvp, which makes pvp as a sorcerer kinda unfair.
@lamenotcool Yep, played a mage character in both Demon and Dark Souls. I've worn heavier armor, and I've also melee'd as a mage. It's not impossible. Going pure mage, and hoping that your spell kills your target before you die by his hits, isn't a good strategy for PVP. However, to each his own, since everyone loves their own play style. I don't hate mages; I hated THIS specific guy and his fighting strategy.
@VunikSovanik: IDK, dude. I had a brutal Demon's Souls PVP character that did just that. Crescent Dagger+5 combo into Ignite with Insanity Catalyst, Monk's Head Wrapping and Ring of Magical Sharpness.
I could swing the dagger three times, cast, get most of my stamina back while casting, swing more, cast, swing more, cast.
And I've killed turtles like that... They be blocking, taking big damage, try to counter just get hit by dagger, block again, try to counter, get hit by Ignite.

@lamenotcool no man, you just need to use trickery, get the shapeshifting spell\ (cant remember name) and use it after you lure your opponent around a corner then blast him. Im a sorcerer and im pretty much undefeated.
you hate on the sorcerer at the beginning, but have you ever played as one? to expect a sorcerer to use just melee is dumb. they have a reduced stamina bar, a reduced damage resistance because they'll use light armour, and they don't have any decent support spells (since patch 1.05 even strong magic shield only lasts like 10 seconds, no longer makes you invincible (side note, i didn't use it when it did) and people STILL run away when you cast it, the cowards).
isn't antone happy that you can now lock on to RoF users? well you can still use it to hide in the distance but you can't use it to do cheep kills anymore
@Gezoluzifer Because the Japanese (who made the game) are suckers for german words (e.g. created a PS1 shooter called "Zeitgeist" in Japan, but had an english name everywhere else). I guess in case of this sword, they found the name just to uber-cool to be any different in any language...
you know if you combine the ring of fog with the sumbering dragon ring together then you will be trully inisible I tryed it as a forest hunter and was undefeated because no one could find or hear if I was coming or not and to add to that add the tranquil walk of peace and scilance makes it even easier to defeat other player I even won a 3 on one battle because of this combination
@THEDARKKNIGHT245 I was holding onto all of them, because my buddy didn't want to level up. We found it easy to join each other's game if we were the same level, plus once it started working we didn't want to level up and risk the game freaking out, not allowing us to join one another.
Also, try it out for yourself. Kill the Sun Princess and sit in Dark Londo alive. You won't have to wait long to get invaded by the Darkmoon Covenant.
@GarlandFraser You say it like it's a lot. I was invaded over 300 times during the 5 days I sat there and PVP'd. The Humanity I got from the occasional Black Phantom is all sitting in my top left. The average souls dropped from all of the guys I killed was ranged from 100k to 1.5 million souls. The guy dropping 1.5 million souls? He held a grudge and attempted to invade me 3 of those 5 days. Don't believe it if you want, but those souls, humanity, arrows, etc were obtained through legit means.
@VunikSovanik its true thats how i got past lvl 100 in standard game. got a 750k soul from a pvp in the same fashion. darkmoon covenant don't go by level its a free for all. I just had them lock on to me and i run by the edge. when they attack roll forward so their camera gets all wonky. then you can kick them off the ledge or the wonky camera get them to do it themselves. rinse n repeat.

Just because they lack the skill to come this far doesn't mean everyone does. Good job hitting with that arrow! There is way too many lamers spamming spells out there. I hope he learned a valuable lesson!
@GarlandFraser Seriously? 12 humanity isn't even that much, I had more than that on my first playthrough, and I haven't even farmed that much. Each time you go NG+, the souls received duplicate by quite a lot, so I can see him getting that many souls by normal means too. That, plus PVP - you can get tons of souls that way.
@GarlandFraser yeahhh when you do a lot of level 120 pvp, thats not a lot. everyone stops leveling there for the pvp, so the souls just build up and up. i'm working towards 99 humanity all from invading on my guy, i'm at about 70ish now i think, and i have about 4million souls, not including the million i spent on items :P

@iutube131 I've faught other Mages that actually were a fun fight as they could melee and use their spells in a well timed manner. However, casting Homing Soul Mass and running around like a doof or running away like a doof, because it's THE ONLY SPELL YOU RELY ON, is a sad tactic. There were times he could have killed me with a Scythe he wielded, but he ran away because his Homing Soul Mass ran out. Plus the spell still works against the Fog Ring, it just doesn't have as long of a range.
@VunikSovanik A mage is already at a disadvantage for melee combat (gear and defense), so why do it? Of course he's gonna keep his distance. That's the whole point of the build. That's like getting upset over a melee toon using a melee weapon. Why not use what your build was made for?
@iutube131 More like the spell is cheap during latency issues. It'd be like a melee user using that Peaceful Steps. I guess some people like the PVP in a fair 1 v 1 circumstance with no cheap tactics, while others use every means necessary to take the target down, including backstabbing when your opponent is using the bow emote. To each his own, that's why I fought his cheap spell with my cheap ring. Eye for an eye.
too good. i'm thinking about swapping covenants though. i liked the idea of darkmoon blade, but the ring became a nuisance and the blue eye orb was utterly useless (for me at least, didn't invade many people.). what are some other recommendations, and not that stupid forest one......it's the same as darkmoonblade.
How is it possible to have over 63,000,000 souls legit twenty days after the game is released? I'm on NG+ and am level 150, but damn that's a ton of souls! I'm not doubting it's legit, just curious how you did it?
@UltimateBeastMachine On the 2nd day it was out, I stumbled onto Dark Londo...(Didn't mean to kill boobs). Anyway, a majority of the Darkmoon Covenant that invaded constantly were non-legit players I assume, since they kept dropping anywhere from 100,000 to 1.5 Million souls per kill. I just stayed there and PVP'd for 5 days straight with a buddy of mine. It's rare that I run into anyone dropping over 300,000 souls now though, plus I haven't touched Dark Souls in a while.
Deserved it. For every player that got killed by noobs that abuse latency and magic spells. I got a good tip for you against people if your interested. I will P.M you the strat, as long as your in the blade of the darkmoon covenant.

@GarlandFraser You say it like it's a lot. I was invaded over 300 times during the 5 days I sat there and PVP'd. The Humanity I got from the occasional Black Phantom is all sitting in my top left. The average souls dropped from all of the guys I killed was ranged from 100k to 1.5 million souls. The guy dropping 1.5 million souls? He held a grudge and attempted to invade me 3 of those 5 days. Don't believe it if you want, but those souls, humanity, arrows, etc were obtained through legit means.

@VunikSovanik its true thats how i got past lvl 100 in standard game. got a 750k soul from a pvp in the same fashion. darkmoon covenant don't go by level its a free for all. I just had them lock on to me and i run by the edge. when they attack roll forward so their camera gets all wonky. then you can kick them off the ledge or the wonky camera get them to do it themselves. rinse n repeat.

@VunikSovanik I don't get why all these people think you've glitched just because you have this level. Mine is currently at SL134 and that wasn't hard. It just took some time.
Just because they lack the skill to come this far doesn't mean everyone does. Good job hitting with that arrow! There is way too many lamers spamming spells out there. I hope he learned a valuable lesson!

@GarlandFraser Seriously? 12 humanity isn't even that much, I had more than that on my first playthrough, and I haven't even farmed that much. Each time you go NG+, the souls received duplicate by quite a lot, so I can see him getting that many souls by normal means too. That, plus PVP - you can get tons of souls that way.

@GarlandFraser yeahhh when you do a lot of level 120 pvp, thats not a lot. everyone stops leveling there for the pvp, so the souls just build up and up. i'm working towards 99 humanity all from invading on my guy, i'm at about 70ish now i think, and i have about 4million souls, not including the million i spent on items :P

@iutube131 I've faught other Mages that actually were a fun fight as they could melee and use their spells in a well timed manner. However, casting Homing Soul Mass and running around like a doof or running away like a doof, because it's THE ONLY SPELL YOU RELY ON, is a sad tactic. There were times he could have killed me with a Scythe he wielded, but he ran away because his Homing Soul Mass ran out. Plus the spell still works against the Fog Ring, it just doesn't have as long of a range.

@VunikSovanik A mage is already at a disadvantage for melee combat (gear and defense), so why do it? Of course he's gonna keep his distance. That's the whole point of the build. That's like getting upset over a melee toon using a melee weapon. Why not use what your build was made for?

@iutube131 More like the spell is cheap during latency issues. It'd be like a melee user using that Peaceful Steps. I guess some people like the PVP in a fair 1 v 1 circumstance with no cheap tactics, while others use every means necessary to take the target down, including backstabbing when your opponent is using the bow emote. To each his own, that's why I fought his cheap spell with my cheap ring. Eye for an eye.

too good. i'm thinking about swapping covenants though. i liked the idea of darkmoon blade, but the ring became a nuisance and the blue eye orb was utterly useless (for me at least, didn't invade many people.). what are some other recommendations, and not that stupid forest one......it's the same as darkmoonblade.

How is it possible to have over 63,000,000 souls legit twenty days after the game is released? I'm on NG+ and am level 150, but damn that's a ton of souls! I'm not doubting it's legit, just curious how you did it?

@UltimateBeastMachine On the 2nd day it was out, I stumbled onto Dark Londo...(Didn't mean to kill boobs). Anyway, a majority of the Darkmoon Covenant that invaded constantly were non-legit players I assume, since they kept dropping anywhere from 100,000 to 1.5 Million souls per kill. I just stayed there and PVP'd for 5 days straight with a buddy of mine. It's rare that I run into anyone dropping over 300,000 souls now though, plus I haven't touched Dark Souls in a while.

@weih723 He had pumped Homing Soul Mass to nearly one shot me. It was difficult to dodge with his latency issues. The counter? Fog Ring. I wouldn't use it otherwise.
