My daddy served in the Army and was on tour in 66-67 in Vietnam. I remeber every story he told me. It was a very hard time for all the soldiers that were over there. They had to come home to people calling them names and throwing eggs at them on the streets. My daddy passed away in January this year (2008). I am very proud of all he did over. This song that plays in the video was my daddy's fav song. He played it all the time. He was VERY proud to be a Vietnam Vet!!!!
ho chi mien came to america wanting his country to be free from france but since france is such a big ally we shut the door in his face and he went elsewhere ie china look at how different it would have been did he want anything different than we did from the english no and some great young men went and died for there country when they shouldnt have and got spit on when they got home now someone burns there finger or even enlists and they are a hero some of the finest young men went to veitnam
Did you ever think that maybe the troops over there didn't want to be there. Its called a draft. I know several people who were called to service, to fight for a cause that they didn't believe in. Second thing is that i am not for those who called the soldiers baby killer, but for those who just protested being there. So, just think maybe our country made a mistake by going into that war, maybe they instated the draft for the wrong reason. Protesting isn't always against the soldiers.
Who ever the enemy whenever the fight you stand behing the troops. They are doing their job. There is nothing more that bring MORALE down is when troops looking back to the states for encouragement only to see hippies protesting the war getting called babykillers when they returned and thats BULLSHIT! So like I said Fuck the people who did this shit
that is right!!! they did nothing for this country because they were used to invade and dominate another country! for no good reason! NOTHING TO DO WITH COMMUNISIM that word is propoganda! BACK THEN!
the reason why he wrote this reminds me of yankee doodle. It was actually supposed to refer to a gay, cross dressing club in Britain. The Americans didn't know that but they know a catchy tune when they see one ;)
Its about STANDING UP for WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN. IF you think we need jobs, better energy options, stop the butchering, take care of our own vets, care for lone elders, then take a look at the candidates and vote. One is rich and paid for by the rich. The other has done something NEVER DONE BEFORE, He is financed BY THE PEOPLE and is FOR THE PEOPLE, $20 average contribution. NO COPORATE $100,000gifts. The press doubts him. The press is owned by corporate america. WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Stern is right. It is refering to the riots between law enforcment people and party goers. I thought it was anti war to. Also stop whining about the vietnam war. Its over stop spreading hippie crap.
Actually sterny2 is right, according to several websites and interviews with Stephen Stills, this song was not about anti-war gatherings, but rather youth gatherings protesting anti-loitering laws, and the closing of the West Hollywood nightclub Pandora's Box. Stills was not there when they closed the club, but had heard about it from his band mates. Maybe check your facts next time before you start the name calling.
For what it's worth wasn't actually an anti-war song. He wrote it during and about riots in Hollywood, such as the riot from closing Pandora's Box. It sounds like an anti-war song though.
Well, it's about that, too, but the tone and the intention behind the composition and recording of the song are anti-war. Stephen Stills was about as anti-war as they come.
Wow, that's really cool, I didn't know that. As for you, Sharpie, it was probably just catchy enough that Nam protesters took it as their own. And can you blame them? It's such good song. I saw it on a video about the Ugandan children/soldier thing. it was really touching. That's whythis song has stuck around. it's gonna last, b/c the themes never change.
hey i need some ratings i bet a buddy a dollar for every rating i get compared to his rating please give me some i also have a bob dylan one you could vote for com one if u watch it rate it
I wish my dad could talk to me about what happened over there. It seems like he just wants to forget.
