@US78Star Hedgehogs hibernate in the wild, you are NEVER supposed to let them hibernate in captivity, because as the hedgehog is now considered a domesticated animal, it lacks the natural ability to be able to come back from hibernation. As its body warms up from the cold temperatures it'll only die in its sleep instead of waking up. If you own a hedgehog, please never allow it to hibernate. They will need to be in a constant temperature of at least 72 degrees Fahrenheit, preferably warmer!!

Those of you who want a hedgehog have to realize that they are nocturnal. That means they sleep during the day, rising at about 9 pm and then going back to sleep around 7 am. They need a good hamster wheel to run, and they WILL run all night, so keep the cages where no one will be disturbed in the evening when they are trying to sleep. It's not healthy to wake them up and bother them. As for the hibernation thing, well, I don't believe your hedgehog was alive if he was cold to the touch.

My sister had a hedgehog named Chewwy, not to sure how to spell his name. He was so cool. One day I guess he decided that it was time to hibernate, so when we went to go check on him, he wasn't moving and was cold, so we thought he was dead. My dad made an appoitment at the vet to see if we could figure what was wrong with him, but then cancelled it. I am pretty sure we burried him alive. We were all shock when we found out they hibernate. Poor Chewwy.
