I grew up around where they played and saw them 1st time at a roller rink that a friend of mine's brother owned. They played there quite often..When they were out of town the Wailers would play... All of these comments I see hear and elsewhere make me smile. Of course everyone in the Northwest was aware of them...There was even a dance that many used to do at the time called "The Witch"... Seen & heard many bands after the Sonics but none ever moved me like they did & still do.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.
Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.
P.S. - If you're out there, listening to this, shaking your head... I just have a few words of advice... GET OFF YOUR ASS AND MAKE SOME ROCK AND ROLL!
We are certainly living in strange times where music is DEAD... i have to go back atleast 20 years to find anythign worth listening to. That goes for originality, power , lyrics and everything.. they knew how to play music once.. now music is a joke...
Amazing, these guys look like pictures of my dad I've seen from '66. No green hair, no piercings or tattoos, no obnoxious pouty glares. Just five guys in skinny pants & Spanish boots & mohair sweaters who made music that KICKS THE SHIT out of 99% of punk, hardcore & heavy metal, and everything else that came after them... By the way, BOOM is one of the rockingest albums EVER. Try to score an older reissue if you can, without the bonus tracks Norton tacked on...hear as it came out originally!
@glauberovsky to quote theCAcashRefund: ...and btw the who didn't invent punk, nor did the sonics or any other garage/proto/mod or whatever band, just like no single person invented the blues or rock n roll. if anything, we owe punk to good ole fashioned angst.
@noodleboy02 true they didnt event it but if all punks bands say these guys are an influence then obviously this is what they wanted to sound like with their own touch on it genius
@JoesRamone The night I got this album, I brought it home and listened to it FOUR times in a row, I couldn't take it off my turntable! The only reason I didn't listen to it more was because I had to get up & go to work in the morning!
Way ahead of their time. I'll bet were probably shocked when they heard this band.

Debating about the start of punk is stupid. All good punk is Rock'n'Roll. All punk that isn't rock'n'roll is shit. There is no punk.
