if The Soviet invaded the U.S ,suprise or not the U.S would mount a full-scale nuclear attack onto the Soviet Union..den all of our tropps stationed over-seas would be either sent to mount an attack onto Russia or be sent back to help fight the war at home!!! The U.S would send an invasion from Japan(if Russia didnt attack them yet!) South Korea, Taiwan, Guam, nd maybe some other Middle Eastern Countries! but the Russian would have had an upper hand since they lunched a full scale invasion 1st

I appreciate to candor and patriotism but launching nukes is not worth it on any grounds. The retaliatory strike from the soviet would wipe the U.S. and other NATO nations off the map. A nuclear conflict between the US and Russia would end life on the planet except for maybe a few lucky ones. basically fallout 3. only theres no guarantee anyone would survive the holocaust cause we dont have bunkers like that.

All high power people have written the plan since 1950 and coordinated by president esienhower because of nuclear threat by the soviet union. These plans were not put in use until September 11, 2001. The president and staff does not stay in bunker but is a moving target. He is in S4B Fleet of the Airforce. Differ from Airforce one. All events of such doomsday is real.

The Statue of Liberty is one of, if not the, most important symbols of America. She stands for everything we think is important about our country. To destroy her would be to destroy an embodiment of our ideals.
Because of that fact, seeing his countrymen destroying the Statue of Liberty was like seeing them symbolically destroy America itself. I know I'd probably get sickened seeing that (but I see more in her than patriotism).

Until 2004, you couldn't have. The sculptor Bartholdi and the engineer Eiffel (yes, that Eiffel) did not leave complete records. So, had the Statue been destroyed in 1989... that would be it.
Besides, as others have pointed out, the meaning we attach to it would have been lost with the original.

"Special" buildings have been built and rebuilt throughout history. And the Qin terracota soldiers aren't a building. You thinking it shouldn't be rebuilt isn't the same thing of saying it can't be rebuilt. As far as facts go the Statue of Liberty can be rebuilt. Heck, they could even make 5 Statues of Liberty practically the same.

Actually near the end we got help from the French. They helped BIG TIME with supplies and reinforcments. Not to mention naval power.
