@pogi2st If you truly know the makings of a perfect laptop, then you would know that it depends on how you configure and build your laptop, plus all your added features to make it your own. Me, personally, I want better performance and speed, so I'm willing to sacrifice a bit on the quality and know for a fact that I'm not risking constant freezing. Though, if you're a SERIOUS extreme gamer, then you'd invest more in a triple screen desktop over a mediocre laptop.

I have a question. I'm getting the Alienware M15x, i5 Processor, 4 GB RAM, and 1 GB ATI Mobility HD 5730. I'm not asking for extremely epic gaming with everything maxed out, but will I be able to run this game along with most others at least on Medium with no lag?

tbh GTA IV is such a SHIT optimised game. Its got mediocre graphics, it feels jagged (no AA), and even with the game being somewhat outdated you cant max it out. Its just because its a shit port.

note: talking about the GRAPHICS not about the gameplay

@nikobelic25000 no alienware does not make graphics cards. Nvidia and AMD make the chips and then companies sell them. You can get the equivalent to this for your desktop, but there is newer stuff out now.

People buying this are better off with the 5850 which has been proven to be slightly faster, cheaper and has no throttling issues like the 260m does.

Remember to always call dell you WILL get it cheaper with some bartering, i had £200 of upgrades and £30 off in the end.

I have a question.. I'm already doubting for like a week between the m15x or the m17x.. My fear is that the 'case' of the m17x will be too big, since it's (W)16.1" (D)12.6" (H)2.1" Especially the depth is ö.

I currently own a dell xps m1710 which is as big as the m15x, but the m15x has a smaller screen.. So, isn't the screen 'to small' for the case?

Is 15.6 inch noticeable smaller than the 17inch?

Any thoughts? I really need some good advice...

yea, the M15x is noticeably smaller and lighter than the M17x. It's still big, but the M17x is a tank. As in, I didn't ever even consider bringing it with me. I know some people do, but it's big. If you want to move your computer around I'd recommend the M15x or try a different brand--Alienware's systems are big. Asus, Gateway, etc, have single 260M computers that are thinner, lighter, and more portable.

Is the M15x screen too small though? I would say no. It has a high pixel density if you get the larger resolution, but it's very workable. I'm very OK with the displays on the M15x.

It's 15.6-inches, it's a pretty nice size but I prefer the 17-inch if you are going to be running it at 1920x1080. It's definitely a nice size, but it's not huge. It might seem larger or smaller to you though b/c it's 16:9, depends on what you are used to.

@christophermayhone The 2" extra screen size is godly for gaming, though it is much less portable than the m15x. Other than screen size, the m17x allows for crossfire and sli setups, providing much more power for gaming. The m17x is more of a desktop replacement than a mobile powerhouse ;)
