Thank you for this.. I am a Kiowa away from home. My mother was Peggy Larue Ware, a full-blood Kiowa. I want my son to know where he has come from. Many thanks!Aho!
thanx for posting, I'm half Cheyenne & half Kiowa from Oklahoma. I know this song & luv to sing it, but I never knew the "english" words of this song. I remember my kiowa aunties singing it when I was a kid. Reminds me of them.
I use to know some Satepauhoodles. Mike and Wayne. Met thier mom and sis too. I think she was with fox-something b attalianon the mexican border several years ago.
Wow! I remember the first day I was taught that song and its meaning. I am glad that an elder has found a way to reach out to us young singers that want to learn. Thank you!
Im in germany now and found this and it made me cry... I miss my family so much and even more my grandparents and i have things like this to give me a little piece of home... many a-ho's carnegie dah... :)
I had the honor of singing with him as a young man in my teens. I sang with him in AZ, NM, OK and NE, he encouraged me to keep up the ways. I was so fortunate to sing with men like him growing up, hearing this makes me feel like a kid again. I am now paralyzed and i still sing, everyday. Pina GiGi Hi cha codo
Our elders are going home, but we Kiowa are still here and will continue to sing or songs and speak and learn what we have left of our language Aho Daw-Kei Day-oun-day.
too bad i only remember very little of my kiowa language. i know alot of my other tribe language. i remember the song when visting faimly in oklahoma.
Evans Ray Satepauhoodle past away lastnight; he was recently diagnosed with Cancer. I will miss Evans Ray greatly-he always took a strong interest in my life, and taught me about my Indian Heritage, & how important I was to my Grandma/Grandpa Unap, Aunt Cath, and Uncle Art, etc.. He prompted me to get more involved w/my Native American side of life, and for that I am very grateful. I regret not spending more time with him,but will always keep his vision/inspirations & teachings in my heart.
I left Oklahoma 20+ years ago and moved to Minnesota. I had forgotten what a southern drum sounded like. Thank you for the posting-it made a snowbound Kiowa expatriate happy. Ah-ho.
Thank you for sharing this video! I am 1/4 kiowa and my dad was taken off the reservation so I never got to know the ways of my people. I feel so connected to the native american energy now and it is my intention to help keep it alive as our elders move on to the spirit world.
Hacho Oklahoma!
I am very proud, met Joe Hobay a direct descendant of Lone Wolf and White Bear.
Aa-ho :-)
