In fairness large sums of money and gold were seized from the privateers and ever since the spanish conquered Central and south America yes they have been in decline British colonies vary widely... But yh the Mayans and Aztecs were minted
maybe it was made Fabrica de Armas de Oviedo (FAO) actually General Dynamics European Land Systems, Santa Barbara Sistemas, they know very well their old models.
The German state uses his secret service BND to systematically rape, torture and murder. My brother Markus Bott had been tortured during five and a half years. I recorded more than 450 hours on video which ended in the legal system. The BND continued under cover of the legal sytem to torture my brother for one and a half years. My brother was assassinated on 11.7.09 because of our homepage linked on my chanel. Whatever lie german snitchers tell you: Germany is the worst torture state on earth.
Big Carl lived on a farm near Gilmour Ill. In the HS AG shop, Carl welded together a steel pipe with chamber on wooden carriage. The projectile was a billiard ball, Lit off, we watched the ball impact the water 1/2 mile away. I lived two miles away and often heard Big Carl lobbing the billiard balls into the farm lake. One day a louder than usual report shook ground from Carl's farm. After 'big bang', Big Carl had hundreds of bits of shrapnell permanently embedded. Fortunately eyesight survived.
My brother Markus Bott had been tortured during five and a half year by the German BND which is the renamed GESTAPO. I have recorded more than 450 hours on video. My brother was assassinated on 11.7.09. I was born in ´65,my brother in ´72.My family is being openly persecuted by the BND since 1958 because they did not collaborate during the 3rd Reich. The German state and the children of the NAZIS still own the property stolen from jews and others by their ancestors. Why is that so?
@DJsharp707 Spain had almost all the American continent, great part of the north of Africa, some lands in Asia, Netherland, Louxemburg, Belgium, part of Italy, Portugal and even Germany with the king Carlos the 5th. Have you ever heard San Francisco /California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, and many other states or cities? All were Spanish
@DJsharp707 Dude, Napoleon never had Spain, he was reyected by our "guerrilleros", he just tried to invade us, but failed, as failed in Russia, you have a bad historic information, dude...
@newhuskytwenty yes in the penisular war but earlier spain fought for napoleon dude u have bad historic information and leave russia out of this battle of trafagar look it up, plus napoleons brother was governor there thats why napoleon said hes making a "familiy of kings" b4 u tell someone that there history is bad make sure you know urs. >_>
@newhuskytwenty Napoleon did have Spain. Well, most of it... I believe the only area that was never occupied was Cadiz.
Whilst your guerrillos did contribute significantly by harassing his forces also, I do believe it was the Combined British, Portuguese and Spanish armies that finally forced Joseph Bonaparte's armies out of Spain... feel free to argue the point with me though, I'm merely a historian studying the period ;)
@blacksuit42 Since you don't seem to be a troll, I would like to add a few things about this "Spain vs England/empire comparison" debate. First of all, let me tell you that I have a great deal of respect for Britain -it is probably the most successful country in world history. But Spain deserves bigger acknowledgement of its achievements.
The Spanish empire is the greatest of the Modern Age (late 15th- late 18th centuries), with about 20 million square kilometres: it's the first global empire.
@blacksuit42 The British empire was notably bigger (around 33 million square kilometres), but it was conquered by an already INDUSTRIAL country: that's the key.
All the superior weaponry "conquistadores" had were some rudimentary firearms, and they were just a handful of men against hundreds of thousands enemies. The bulk of the British empire was built in the 19th century: the Redcoats were fighting with state-of-the-art technology against primitive peoples, with exceptions like the Boers.
@blacksuit42 The British empire belongs to the era of steam ships, railroads, factories... it's normal it became larger.
It's also wrong to draw historical comparisons over size: the Roman empire was "just" 3 million square kilometres, yet it is the greatest ever: duration, achievements, civilization, influence -Latin is still being studied today.
Another remarkable feat of the Spanish empire in the Americas is its duration: 1492-1808/1824.
@wank0r Well, I would prefer a thousand times to live in Argentina or Chile than in Sierra Leone or Sudan, which are former British colonies.
I am tired of this stupid "British-colonies-are-rich-Spanish-colonies-are-poor" remark. When we left Central and South America in 1824, all those territories were richer than Spain and most of Europe -that's a fact. Same with Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines in 1898.
They simply ruined themselves: it's a matter of economic policies.
@wank0r Is Britain's fault the current inflationary crisis in Zimbabwe? No, just as it is not ours that Venezuela has been wasting her oil.
The US, Australia and Canada are successful because they are based on free markets and democracy.
Meanwhile, all your African colonies but SA are some of the poorest on earth.
India has millions living in appalling misery. Pakistan and Bangladesh are dreadful places. Burma and Thailand, poverty-stricken and unstable countries. Jamaica and Guyana, etc...
@wank0r We are speaking English because it's the language of the video.
If you refer to its current position as the world's lingua franca, it is mainly due to the US prominence. During the 19th and early 20th centuries -the Golden Age of the British Empire- the international language was... yes, FRENCH.
Without the US, English would be only spoken by around 150 million people as a first language. It would be still important and prestigious, but more in the way French or German are today.
@HerrOttoKranz If you're right, then yes the US is still a product of the British Empire. 150 million? i suppose the 1 billion+ population of India means nothing, and the 300+ million of the other nations
@wank0r WITHOUT the US, English would be only spoken AS FIRST LANGUAGE in the UK, Australia, NZ, Canada and some other small nations. I said 150 million; actually I was wrong, because if you add the populations of those countries it results a total of 125-130 million people.
ADDING the US you get 430 million NATIVE speakers -not entirely true, because many US citizens are non-natives-.
The population of India speaks Indi, the Pakistanis Urdu and so on. They learn English AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
@HerrOttoKranz give up. where have the Brits been? US, Canada, Hong Kong, South Africa, Aus, NZ.. all great places, rich places. Even india is a better place becuse of british involvment.
where has spain been? All of south america is SHIT, and POOR. philippines LOL Cuba communist shithole.
South America is rich in resources, just underdeveloped because they haven't applied the correct economic policies. Are you saying that Australia is a land of plenty? More like a gigantic desert. So why is it prosperous? The political and economic ideas are the ones that make the difference.
You have also been to Egypt, Iraq, Sudan, Burma, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Guyana... What wonderful places they are.
@newhuskytwenty again you are wrong about empire. The British Empire has that title of biggest empire, covering 1/4 of the earth's landmass... if you are going to say that Spain held part of Italy etc. How about remembering that throughout History, Britain held most of France, 1/2 of Germany, the USA, Portugal, Spain etc.
You say Spain held a great part of north Africa... wrong, only a small part of morocco to be fair
The Spanish Empire was nowhere near the size of the British Empire... FACT
@blacksuit42 yes, britain hold the bigest empire thanks of the conquest of a lot of territories of africa, territories like deserts, deserts again and more deserts, congratulations for conquer deserts without richness....
@ivmame16 you talk the biggest load of bollocks ever... where in (to name a few) India, Burma, Brunei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaya, Australia, New Zeland, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Fiji, South Africa, St. Helena, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Majorca, Malta, Canada, Barbados, Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago, 13 Colonies, Florida, Falkland Islands; were there deserts, deserts and more deserts... get your facts straight. btw... who was it that Chased Napoleon out of your country?? oh yeah, the British.. Shut up
@blacksuit42 ok, now i know why people of england are stupid -.-'
I repeat ""a lot of territories of africa, territories like deserts"", are you blind or don't see the word africa?
is not australia a desert with a few litte good territories? arab territories and the territories of asia were shit compared with with the biggest part of america conquered by spain, important parts of europe.... england with his coward soldiers would not do that ;-)
@ivmame16 *sighs* the spanish empire was tiny compared to the British Empire... Important parts of Europe... I assume you mean Spain by that... yeah? What about the parts that Britain over the last 1000 years have held? Large areas of France, half of Germany... oh yeah what about Gibraltar... bet that pisses you off doesn't it.. Gibraltar, that's right on your doorstep, I hear you want it back.
Britain did invade Europe... through your freaking country... your cowardly soldiers couldn't do that
@ivmame16 (cont) Let me draw you to the Battle of Talavera, 1809, Talavera is in Spain, I bet you didn't know that. The British Army was Allied with the Spanish Army, bet you didn't know that. The morning of the battle, the spanish army ran away because a cannon fired, bet you didn't know that. The British Army fighting there won the battle without the Spanish help, bet you didn't know that... don't you dare call British Soldiers cowards when your pompous army is a pile of shit
@blacksuit42 i speak of important parts of europe like italy, portugal, austria, holland... i know that you are jealous because we were the first country in cross the atlantic ocean, and destroy entire civilisations with a few soldiers. the best soldier in the story is the spanish soldier. let me remember the battle of "cartagena de indias" with blas de lezo and vernon, were a few soldiers defeated one of the biggest attack made by the english "pirates", search it and cry =)
@ivmame16 giving the aztecs an up until then for them unheard of disease is nothing to be proud of... the Vikings crossed the atlantic first.
You obviously know your history so well you know nothing about what happened in SPAIN 200 years ago, and how your army did sweet FUCK ALL to get the French Armies out. Seriously, I think you need to learn your history if you can't remember that...look up talavera...although i guess in your warped mind it never happened, as Trafalgar didn't either
@blacksuit42 mmmm the "english armada" were biggest than "spanish armada" ;-) y ahora te voy a hablar castellano porque me sale de la punta de la polla y si no te gusta lo aprendes cerdo ingles de mierda =) yo conozco la historia de mi propio pais, y se que los ingleses y el resto de potencias colonizadoras siempre han tenido envidia de el poder español, por eso atacabais todos a la vez en vez de uno a uno.
@ivmame16 Mae'n amlwg nad ydych yn gwybod yr hanes eich gwlad, neu y byddech yn diolch i'r Fyddin Brydeinig ar gyfer arbed chi yn ystod y rhyfel yn Sbaen. @ivmame16 I will stop talking to you IF and only IF you come to the realisation that Spain in fact owes much to the fact that the British Army bailed you out 200 years ago... and that your deluded ideas are not based on evidence so much as based on a hatred of a country that boasted the greatest empire in the world.
@blacksuit42 es clar que si campio, deixa el teu fanatisme d'homosexual angles, i obre un llibre d'historia avera si aprens alguna cosa. jo no parlare mes amb un fanatic que no sap ni l'historia del seu pais

Pan oedd y Fyddin Sbaen? Poncing o gwmpas yn gwneud fuck holl
@ivmame16 The Spanish Empire beat the English and French? Lol you really need your head examining... the British were allied to the Spanish... although the Spanish weren't exactly very good... and "together" they drove the french out of Spain... although most of the work was done by the British. Does the word Sir Arthur Wellesley, the First Duke of Wellington, Generalissimo of the Allied Armies in Spain mean anything to you? I doubt it as you are deluded
@ivmame16 In no time in history has the Spanish "Empire" ever come near to "Fucking to the ground" Great Britain... no country has... Spain on the other hand got well and truly fucked over several times during history. Didn't the Moors do it.... Didn't the French do it.... Didn't your own fucking people do it? Yes, yes i think they all did
Gurnica... hardly a proud moment for any nation, masscareing women and children. Can't really be that awesome a nation if you allied with the NAZIs who killed over 6million innocent people.
BOOM now sit the fuck down spik boy game over. Spain aint that awesome,
@ivmame16 I know more history than you will ever know... I'm just doing this now to wind you up as I know which of us is right... learn your history. I'm if you did, then you'll know all about the events of Badajoz, Vittoria, Albuera, Salamanca, Cadiz... then remember which Army won at those battles and which country had a siesta whilst the battles were being fought for them
@ivmame16 You can hardly call me ignorant i've got a degree in military history, I speak 4 languages and I really suggest you read a few books, as you're coming across as ignorant by despite having masses of evidence that your army isnt all that awesome you resort to insults. Id wouldnt call any country that was allied with the Nazi's and kills its own civilians great.
@ivmame16 Civilians die, by accident ect, Im pretty sure the bombing of Guernica wasn't, its kind of hard to drop that many bombs on a place by accident. I guess for a Portuguese man like you you don't really care. BTW how are ETA doing? Im never catching a train in madrid thats for sure
@ivmame16 hahahahahahaa the only degree gaz has is mental retardation? I think not... I studied with him.
If that's what we have degrees in, that must mean you have a degree in being a grade A cunt. Did you know in 1812 the inhabitants of Salamanca welcomed the british army into the city as heroes? nah didn't think you did. Go to hell you naive thick as pig shit spaniard. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. I fart in your general direction spanish pigdog
@ivmame16 Go on... give me some examples of that... you can't as you're making your rubbish up... now if i were you. I'd fuck off before we decide to do a Badajoz mk.2 on you... remember that? yeah, the british army came into badajoz and raped and pillaged the entire city for making their job of taking it off the french harder. Either that or I'm gonna Guernica your Spick arse back into the stone age.
@blacksuit42 kajajjaja calro k si marica ingles :) yo recuerdo la paliza que os dio blas de lezo en cartagena de indias, os pegamos una paliza mucho mas grande que la derrota que sufrimos en la armada ;-)
@ivmame16 you personally gave the beating? I agree with Garron... You say we're stupid yet you come out with bollocks after telling us to shut up. You fail at life, you fail at your country's pathetic history. Next you'll be saying that Santísima Trinidad won the Battle of Trafalgar all by itself, despite the Royal Navy destroying the Franco-Spanish Fleet, and scuttling said ship the day after battle.
@blacksuit42 If you will allow me to have a word... I am half Spanish and half English, so I can see both sides of the hill. Both countries have a terrific military history. Spain's military heyday lasted from c. 1500 to c.1643, whereas Britain's lasted at least until 1945 (the Falklands War excepting). And remember that in the Peninsular War we were allies against the Frogs! So please do not argue any more. Greetings from Barcelona.
@MCYoung1969 finally someone who is talking sense :D I do agree about the military heyday for Spain. However Britain was hugely successful on the continent at that time. The real problem I've had with ivmame16 was his constant insults towards England. I know we were allies against the crapauds... I wish that the arguement was against a Frog to be fair... far more fun! I have no argument with Spain. Just with those who wish to insult Britain :) Greetings from London.
@blacksuit42 Unfortunately anglophobia is quite common in Spain. Gibraltar is a sore that they find hard to forget (a woman had a go at my mother in a marketplace in Barcelona because of this, when she realised that my mother was English!). As for myself, I am proud of the entire British military heritage, and of most of the Spanish (the main exceptions are the 1640 War against the Catalans, the 1702-14 War of the Spanish Succession, and the FOUR civil wars we had here between 1833 and 1939).
@MCYoung1969 although the failure of the Spanish Armada speaks something about the assumed strength of the Spanish army and Navy. I agree about Gibraltar. However didn't they get to vote on what they wanted a couple of years back and found that they preferred being part of Britain? One other place that the Spanish really hate us is of course Badajoz. What is the general feeling towards the French?
@blacksuit42 Yes, the Gibs voted a few years ago that they wanted to remain English... but here the general consensus is that the rest of Spain should also have a saying in deciding their future. Concerning the French, I would say that they are cordially disliked in most of Spain, but particularly so in the areas closer to the French border (especially Catalonia, where I live). By the way, my mother was also a Londoner; she was born in Peckham.
@MCYoung1969 Not quite sure how the spanish would have a say. That's like the UK voting on whether the Vatican should become integrated into Italy in my eyes, two completely different entities! I'm glad the French are hated, are the memories of the Peninsular war and what happened still there? With the exception of Badajoz, the British Army conducted itself admirably whilst the French Raped and pillaged its way across spain for several years. are there still feelings of Hatred for that?
@blacksuit42 Well, it is about 200 years since all that happened. No, I would not say that there is still hatred here against the Frogs or the British because of the Peninsular War. But people are still aware of what happened, and they can easily bring back the events in an argument (as you have seen in this forum!).
@MCYoung1969 True. Although there is still at least one place that I know of. Uniformed Soldiers still aren't allowed anywhere near Badajoz after the British Army ran riot in 1812. Shame really. That would be a great bicentennial to take part in!
@blacksuit42 On the Gibraltar voting, I think the Scottish nationalists are planning on having a vote (in Scotland only) on independence in the near future, and that the London government stated that they would accept the result of the vote. Am I right? This would be unthinkable in Spain. Here they consider that the whole country must decide whether one part (e.g., Catalonia) has the right to secede or not.
@MCYoung1969 I'm not sure about the scotland thing to be fair. Scotland do want independence. Although the country would be nowhere near strong enough to support itself
@blacksuit42 By the way, could you please elaborate on England's success on the continent at the time of Spain's military heyday? I had the impression that Essex's expedition to the Netherlands in the 1580s was a failure, and that England started being an important factor in the continent after the Battle of the Dunes in 1659. But then of course I might be wrong... More greetings from Barcelona.
@MCYoung1969 Britains successes came more in France, which we held vast portions of between 1066 and around 1560. Although the 100 years War against France saw most of this lost (with the exception of Calais I believe) Britain was able to Win several major battles (the obvious one being Azincourt). Most of the heyday of Spain was during the reign of the Tudors, and as far as I can remember, relations with much of the continent were amicable. the exception being the Spanish! (cont)
@blacksuit42 Ah well, yes, you are right about the 100 Years' War. Pity most was lost in 1453, and then Calais in c. 1560 (and if I am right that was Spain's fault, who was then allied with England and got her involved in an unwanted war against France). Concerning the Spanish Armada, over here they say that the fleet was destroyed by the storms at sea and that the English had nothing to do with its defeat. I'd rather think it was a combination of both factors that sunk the Armada.
@ivmame16 you're proud because you're the bigger country? hahaha you may be bigger but you're a bunch of wimps who can't fight a war... Just think, had we not saved your arse 200 years ago you'd be French... I used to like spain until you came along.
@blacksuit42 the english soldier is know in spain by the name of "marica ingles", "cerdo ingles", "pirata ingles"... this is like say that the english soldiers are homosexual, coward that only attack people by the back... and spanish soldier is know like the bravest soldier crosing the american jungles, fighting in disadvantage and wining the battle.... in short, is history =)
@youtabeer Got it from a late friend who was a militaria dealer in the Northeastern US. He bought a collection of cannons in England and imported them.
I'm from Austria :) The deadly long range barrels for the british navy has been made in Austria too (Graz) but 200 years before this howitzer lafette. The Austrian cannon barrels have helped the english to fight the spanish navy.
i shot an antifreeze jug at fifty yards with my cannon ,i love the video and ilove cannonsss!!!!! tiberiuscanfield visit my site check it out,my new 1 will be on there this weekend
You lifted 75lbs (your share of the barrel) with your back bent over like that?
Be careful - once your back goes it's a nightmare to fix and (I say this with no disrespect, please take it as intended) the older a person gets, the worse the consequences of putting out their back.
The scary part is that it seems to be accumulative. I know several people who've lifted badly for years with no trouble then dropped something small, bent to pick it up and had their back pop.
For missing information that you guys want why not just ask the Spanish military. I'm sure their artillery archives would have something. Looks and sounds like fun guys.
This type of field gun was long range, deadly accurate and reliable compared to contemporary muskets, and much more powerful used with either single shot or grape shot. Much like a heavy anti-material sniper rifle, or a big ass shotgun.
Just wonderin, have u guys ever fired a punt gun, cuz i have about 5, PLEESE dont ask me how i got them, i live in Elsberry, MO and lots of guns are found by a-holes on my property. u guys shud try that cuz its really cool and i tried it in a boat, threw mw back about 69 feet
Well, considering this was the age of troops being packed together in close formations a good hit could probably take out a lot of people, depending on the ammo and if you're talking kills or injuries.
It is a howitzer with chamber. The Spanish Army had two sizes which looked just alike, but one was a 3-pdr. and one a 4-pdr. I've made a lengthy posting on these weapons on the Napoleon Series forum if you care to check there under postings by John Morris. As I recall I put in detailed dimensions of my 3-pdr. There are three of the 4-pdrs. at West Point, all captured during the Mexican War.
@gueropalma1990 Then perhaps, Herrera, and Santa Ana should not have been so quick to attack American forces camped at the mouth of the Natchez River. They persisted in the face of defeat after defeat. It was not until Santa Ana was deposed, Mexico City fell and Chief Justice Pena y Pena assumed control and the Treaty Of Guadalupe signed, that Mexico was returned all captured territory south of the Rio Grande. It could have been worse, we could have kept ALL captured territory. Pretty generous.
That is one vicious li'le bugger.

@newhuskytwenty umm..dude check ur history russia is 20x bigger than spain and napoleon conquered spain
DJsharp707 1 year ago
@DJsharp707 Spain had almost all the American continent, great part of the north of Africa, some lands in Asia, Netherland, Louxemburg, Belgium, part of Italy, Portugal and even Germany with the king Carlos the 5th. Have you ever heard San Francisco /California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, and many other states or cities? All were Spanish
newhuskytwenty 1 year ago
@DJsharp707 Dude, Napoleon never had Spain, he was reyected by our "guerrilleros", he just tried to invade us, but failed, as failed in Russia, you have a bad historic information, dude...
newhuskytwenty 1 year ago
@newhuskytwenty yes in the penisular war but earlier spain fought for napoleon dude u have bad historic information and leave russia out of this battle of trafagar look it up, plus napoleons brother was governor there thats why napoleon said hes making a "familiy of kings" b4 u tell someone that there history is bad make sure you know urs. >_>
DJsharp707 1 year ago
@newhuskytwenty Napoleon did have Spain. Well, most of it... I believe the only area that was never occupied was Cadiz.
Whilst your guerrillos did contribute significantly by harassing his forces also, I do believe it was the Combined British, Portuguese and Spanish armies that finally forced Joseph Bonaparte's armies out of Spain... feel free to argue the point with me though, I'm merely a historian studying the period ;)
blacksuit42 11 months ago
@blacksuit42 Since you don't seem to be a troll, I would like to add a few things about this "Spain vs England/empire comparison" debate. First of all, let me tell you that I have a great deal of respect for Britain -it is probably the most successful country in world history. But Spain deserves bigger acknowledgement of its achievements.
The Spanish empire is the greatest of the Modern Age (late 15th- late 18th centuries), with about 20 million square kilometres: it's the first global empire.
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@blacksuit42 The British empire was notably bigger (around 33 million square kilometres), but it was conquered by an already INDUSTRIAL country: that's the key.
All the superior weaponry "conquistadores" had were some rudimentary firearms, and they were just a handful of men against hundreds of thousands enemies. The bulk of the British empire was built in the 19th century: the Redcoats were fighting with state-of-the-art technology against primitive peoples, with exceptions like the Boers.
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@blacksuit42 The British empire belongs to the era of steam ships, railroads, factories... it's normal it became larger.
It's also wrong to draw historical comparisons over size: the Roman empire was "just" 3 million square kilometres, yet it is the greatest ever: duration, achievements, civilization, influence -Latin is still being studied today.
Another remarkable feat of the Spanish empire in the Americas is its duration: 1492-1808/1824.
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@HerrOttoKranz the Uk's colonies are wealthy western nations, USA, Canada, Aus.. etc etc.
Spains colonies are shitholes, poor unsuccessfull shitee same for portugal. are you proud of brazil? LOL
what language are we speaking now?
wank0r 3 months ago
@wank0r Well, I would prefer a thousand times to live in Argentina or Chile than in Sierra Leone or Sudan, which are former British colonies.
I am tired of this stupid "British-colonies-are-rich-Spanish-colonies-are-poor" remark. When we left Central and South America in 1824, all those territories were richer than Spain and most of Europe -that's a fact. Same with Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines in 1898.
They simply ruined themselves: it's a matter of economic policies.
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@wank0r Is Britain's fault the current inflationary crisis in Zimbabwe? No, just as it is not ours that Venezuela has been wasting her oil.
The US, Australia and Canada are successful because they are based on free markets and democracy.
Meanwhile, all your African colonies but SA are some of the poorest on earth.
India has millions living in appalling misery. Pakistan and Bangladesh are dreadful places. Burma and Thailand, poverty-stricken and unstable countries. Jamaica and Guyana, etc...

HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@wank0r We are speaking English because it's the language of the video.
If you refer to its current position as the world's lingua franca, it is mainly due to the US prominence. During the 19th and early 20th centuries -the Golden Age of the British Empire- the international language was... yes, FRENCH.
Without the US, English would be only spoken by around 150 million people as a first language. It would be still important and prestigious, but more in the way French or German are today.
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@HerrOttoKranz If you're right, then yes the US is still a product of the British Empire. 150 million? i suppose the 1 billion+ population of India means nothing, and the 300+ million of the other nations
wank0r 3 months ago
@wank0r WITHOUT the US, English would be only spoken AS FIRST LANGUAGE in the UK, Australia, NZ, Canada and some other small nations. I said 150 million; actually I was wrong, because if you add the populations of those countries it results a total of 125-130 million people.
ADDING the US you get 430 million NATIVE speakers -not entirely true, because many US citizens are non-natives-.
The population of India speaks Indi, the Pakistanis Urdu and so on. They learn English AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@HerrOttoKranz give up. where have the Brits been? US, Canada, Hong Kong, South Africa, Aus, NZ.. all great places, rich places. Even india is a better place becuse of british involvment.
where has spain been? All of south america is SHIT, and POOR. philippines LOL Cuba communist shithole.
wank0r 3 months ago
@wank0r You are the one who should give up.
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@wank0r So the fact that Cuba is communist is our fault? LOL
HerrOttoKranz 3 months ago
@HerrOttoKranz No im just stating the huge difference in the places and nations that were the result of the British, and the Spanish.
Sorry.. you're obviously very patriotic, no point arguing with you lol
wank0r 3 months ago
@newhuskytwenty again you are wrong about empire. The British Empire has that title of biggest empire, covering 1/4 of the earth's landmass... if you are going to say that Spain held part of Italy etc. How about remembering that throughout History, Britain held most of France, 1/2 of Germany, the USA, Portugal, Spain etc.
You say Spain held a great part of north Africa... wrong, only a small part of morocco to be fair
The Spanish Empire was nowhere near the size of the British Empire... FACT
blacksuit42 10 months ago
@blacksuit42 yes, britain hold the bigest empire thanks of the conquest of a lot of territories of africa, territories like deserts, deserts again and more deserts, congratulations for conquer deserts without richness....

Shut up
blacksuit42 7 months ago
@blacksuit42 ok, now i know why people of england are stupid -.-'
I repeat ""a lot of territories of africa, territories like deserts"", are you blind or don't see the word africa?
is not australia a desert with a few litte good territories? arab territories and the territories of asia were shit compared with with the biggest part of america conquered by spain, important parts of europe.... england with his coward soldiers would not do that ;-)
ivmame16 7 months ago
@ivmame16 *sighs* the spanish empire was tiny compared to the British Empire... Important parts of Europe... I assume you mean Spain by that... yeah? What about the parts that Britain over the last 1000 years have held? Large areas of France, half of Germany... oh yeah what about Gibraltar... bet that pisses you off doesn't it.. Gibraltar, that's right on your doorstep, I hear you want it back.
Britain did invade Europe... through your freaking country... your cowardly soldiers couldn't do that
blacksuit42 7 months ago
@ivmame16 (cont) Let me draw you to the Battle of Talavera, 1809, Talavera is in Spain, I bet you didn't know that. The British Army was Allied with the Spanish Army, bet you didn't know that. The morning of the battle, the spanish army ran away because a cannon fired, bet you didn't know that. The British Army fighting there won the battle without the Spanish help, bet you didn't know that... don't you dare call British Soldiers cowards when your pompous army is a pile of shit
blacksuit42 7 months ago
wrong, the spanish army ran away because they fired a volley and it scared them... and you have the nerve to say that the British Army is cowardly...
blacksuit42 7 months ago
@blacksuit42 i speak of important parts of europe like italy, portugal, austria, holland... i know that you are jealous because we were the first country in cross the atlantic ocean, and destroy entire civilisations with a few soldiers. the best soldier in the story is the spanish soldier. let me remember the battle of "cartagena de indias" with blas de lezo and vernon, were a few soldiers defeated one of the biggest attack made by the english "pirates", search it and cry =)
ivmame16 7 months ago
@ivmame16 giving the aztecs an up until then for them unheard of disease is nothing to be proud of... the Vikings crossed the atlantic first.
You obviously know your history so well you know nothing about what happened in SPAIN 200 years ago, and how your army did sweet FUCK ALL to get the French Armies out. Seriously, I think you need to learn your history if you can't remember that...look up talavera...although i guess in your warped mind it never happened, as Trafalgar didn't either

You fail at life, you fail at your country's pathetic history. Next you'll be saying that Santísima Trinidad won the Battle of Trafalgar all by itself, despite the Royal Navy destroying the Franco-Spanish Fleet, and scuttling said ship the day after battle.
blacksuit42 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 If you will allow me to have a word... I am half Spanish and half English, so I can see both sides of the hill. Both countries have a terrific military history. Spain's military heyday lasted from c. 1500 to c.1643, whereas Britain's lasted at least until 1945 (the Falklands War excepting). And remember that in the Peninsular War we were allies against the Frogs! So please do not argue any more. Greetings from Barcelona.
MCYoung1969 6 months ago
@MCYoung1969 finally someone who is talking sense :D I do agree about the military heyday for Spain. However Britain was hugely successful on the continent at that time. The real problem I've had with ivmame16 was his constant insults towards England. I know we were allies against the crapauds... I wish that the arguement was against a Frog to be fair... far more fun! I have no argument with Spain. Just with those who wish to insult Britain :) Greetings from London.
blacksuit42 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 Unfortunately anglophobia is quite common in Spain. Gibraltar is a sore that they find hard to forget (a woman had a go at my mother in a marketplace in Barcelona because of this, when she realised that my mother was English!). As for myself, I am proud of the entire British military heritage, and of most of the Spanish (the main exceptions are the 1640 War against the Catalans, the 1702-14 War of the Spanish Succession, and the FOUR civil wars we had here between 1833 and 1939).
MCYoung1969 6 months ago
@MCYoung1969 although the failure of the Spanish Armada speaks something about the assumed strength of the Spanish army and Navy. I agree about Gibraltar. However didn't they get to vote on what they wanted a couple of years back and found that they preferred being part of Britain? One other place that the Spanish really hate us is of course Badajoz. What is the general feeling towards the French?
blacksuit42 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 Yes, the Gibs voted a few years ago that they wanted to remain English... but here the general consensus is that the rest of Spain should also have a saying in deciding their future. Concerning the French, I would say that they are cordially disliked in most of Spain, but particularly so in the areas closer to the French border (especially Catalonia, where I live). By the way, my mother was also a Londoner; she was born in Peckham.
MCYoung1969 6 months ago
@MCYoung1969 Not quite sure how the spanish would have a say. That's like the UK voting on whether the Vatican should become integrated into Italy in my eyes, two completely different entities! I'm glad the French are hated, are the memories of the Peninsular war and what happened still there? With the exception of Badajoz, the British Army conducted itself admirably whilst the French Raped and pillaged its way across spain for several years. are there still feelings of Hatred for that?
blacksuit42 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 Well, it is about 200 years since all that happened. No, I would not say that there is still hatred here against the Frogs or the British because of the Peninsular War. But people are still aware of what happened, and they can easily bring back the events in an argument (as you have seen in this forum!).
MCYoung1969 6 months ago
@MCYoung1969 True. Although there is still at least one place that I know of. Uniformed Soldiers still aren't allowed anywhere near Badajoz after the British Army ran riot in 1812. Shame really. That would be a great bicentennial to take part in!
blacksuit42 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 Really? I had no idea. I'll try to check that with my mates and if I find any more information I will let you know.
MCYoung1969 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 On the Gibraltar voting, I think the Scottish nationalists are planning on having a vote (in Scotland only) on independence in the near future, and that the London government stated that they would accept the result of the vote. Am I right? This would be unthinkable in Spain. Here they consider that the whole country must decide whether one part (e.g., Catalonia) has the right to secede or not.
MCYoung1969 6 months ago
@MCYoung1969 I'm not sure about the scotland thing to be fair. Scotland do want independence. Although the country would be nowhere near strong enough to support itself
blacksuit42 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 By the way, could you please elaborate on England's success on the continent at the time of Spain's military heyday? I had the impression that Essex's expedition to the Netherlands in the 1580s was a failure, and that England started being an important factor in the continent after the Battle of the Dunes in 1659. But then of course I might be wrong... More greetings from Barcelona.
MCYoung1969 6 months ago
@MCYoung1969 Britains successes came more in France, which we held vast portions of between 1066 and around 1560. Although the 100 years War against France saw most of this lost (with the exception of Calais I believe) Britain was able to Win several major battles (the obvious one being Azincourt). Most of the heyday of Spain was during the reign of the Tudors, and as far as I can remember, relations with much of the continent were amicable. the exception being the Spanish! (cont)
blacksuit42 6 months ago
@blacksuit42 Ah well, yes, you are right about the 100 Years' War. Pity most was lost in 1453, and then Calais in c. 1560 (and if I am right that was Spain's fault, who was then allied with England and got her involved in an unwanted war against France). Concerning the Spanish Armada, over here they say that the fleet was destroyed by the storms at sea and that the English had nothing to do with its defeat. I'd rather think it was a combination of both factors that sunk the Armada.

Nice toy though. :o)

i lol'd soooo hard when i saw the target after it got hit with the cannonball.

¡¡WOW!! ¡Viva España!

I'm just curious, how many people did this normally take out back in the day? I'm thinking like 1 maybe 3-4 max
sbslusher 2 years ago
They bounce along the ground so that may increase the number, but im no expert.
jimmy202500 2 years ago
Well, considering this was the age of troops being packed together in close formations a good hit could probably take out a lot of people, depending on the ammo and if you're talking kills or injuries.

don't forget the damage that bone fragments and and peices of kit flying off of the soldiers kit would do to those standing near by
AlienZygote010 1 year ago
Very Impressive. Didn't realize this size and date of weapon was this powerful.

Cannonman,
I couldn't get the whole video to play, so maybe I missed this if you commented on it.
Is this a true howitzer with a chambered bore, or simply a small 3 inch gun similar to the Verbruggen of Revolutionary War fame?
threepdr 2 years ago
It is a howitzer with chamber. The Spanish Army had two sizes which looked just alike, but one was a 3-pdr. and one a 4-pdr. I've made a lengthy posting on these weapons on the Napoleon Series forum if you care to check there under postings by John Morris. As I recall I put in detailed dimensions of my 3-pdr. There are three of the 4-pdrs. at West Point, all captured during the Mexican War.

did you write "mexican" war or better, US war against mexico.. us gob, start the war with greed of our north lands.
gueropalma1990 8 months ago
@gueropalma1990 Then perhaps, Herrera, and Santa Ana should not have been so quick to attack American forces camped at the mouth of the Natchez River. They persisted in the face of defeat after defeat. It was not until Santa Ana was deposed, Mexico City fell and Chief Justice Pena y Pena assumed control and the Treaty Of Guadalupe signed, that Mexico was returned all captured territory south of the Rio Grande. It could have been worse, we could have kept ALL captured territory. Pretty generous.
