@LxE100 As they get older and bigger, the different species are put into separate enclosures so that there will be no conflict. So the lions stay together, and the leopards go into a place of their own, with lots of trees to learn to climb properly and so on. If they were brought up together for a long time, they might be put into adjacent enclosures so they can still 'chat'!

These big cats are in South Africa, where the wildlife department does stringent checks to make sure that you have sufficient knowledge to be able to take care of them, as well as a large area which is securely fenced. You can 'adopt' them in a sense by offering to help pay for their monthly food and vet bills through the website of cheetah experience! They also take paying volunteers, who get to learn how to care for them.

But in South Africa, the animals in a game reserve are referred to that way because they are not domesticated species, and conservation legislation makes it illegal to hunt any animals on a game farm or in a game park. There is more money from tourism than hunting.

Cubs of all types are reared here, and some remain as adults, in large specially built enclosures, while others are resettled in game parks.

@abdi1983 All the cubs bite each other in play, with bigger mouths too! Never breaks the skin, and none of the animals run from the rough play, it's what they are used to. Their skins are much tougher than ours, and the dog is giving the same kind of nips that they would playing with a human. Thanks for your concern, but I hope I've assured you that the leopard was never hurt by the dog. They still played the same way even when the leopard (very quickly) became twice the dog's size.

@antoniabuffy Riana, who founded the project, began as a volunteer at her local zoo, where she learnt how to look after young cubs, what balance of food they needed, how to massage their tummeis after feeding etc. After a couple of years, she applied for a permit to buy a cheetah cub - this process will vary depending on what country you're in. In the years since then, she has raised hundreds of cubs and is now the acknowledged local expert. There's also a volunteer program at Cheetah Experience
