I saw this documentary at The Fest For Beatlefans in Chicago a few years back. There was a video room that showed this film and other rare Beatles/solo stuff. Glad to see it on YouTube. Thanks for posting this!
This is less than a month after Keith Moon's death. Moon would have been there instead of Kenney Jones. Strangely enough, Kenney wasn't in The Who just yet. By the time Paul completed this documentary, Townshend had asked Kenney to join The Who. Anyway, thanks for this jacenty841. I've always wanted to see this movie.
Loved it! The first time that I saw this vid, commented that I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at THAT session. Now, I feel like I was. : ) Thanks for this upload very much.
The end is so epic with Paul on bass singing his face off. I love it! His counting @34:26 was the greatest! Wonderful upload! Paul's rock vocals at the end were pretty awesome too.
This is really cool to see and hear. I don't think it's that bad a thing for Paul to know what he wants and tell the other artists how to do his arrangement. It is his piece and his vision after all and I he just really wanted what was in his head to come out in reality. It's difficult and impressive to me he can conduct all these people on their separate instruments and he's pretty polite about it too - he's just being firm. Paul's really talented. His musicality comes from within.
Jesus. This is an awesome vid. Replace Bananarama, Boy George, Wham, Duran Duran et al with John Bonham, Ronnie Laine, Dave Gilmour, Pete Townsend and Hank Marvin. Replace Bob Geldof with Paul McCartney and change the year from 1984 to 1978 and.....if anybody's got a better quality copy of this, LET'S FORKIN HAVE IT!! Grateful thanks.

Excellent...never seen this before and I've seen most things (re Beatles).. I love Paul but he really is a control freak..He must have grated on some of these superstar players ego's...But can anybody tell me why Ray Cooper has to be included in most supergroups?? All he does is play the tambourine in the most o.t.t. pretentious manner .....
@gal00li Um it was his song, is a conductor a control freak for conducting the musicians in an orchestra? That's his job, and this was the "Rockestra" where do you think the name comes from but "Orchestra". So Paul had the role of "conductor".
Also Paul was the biggest "superstar" there so if that's the way the hierarchy works, then Paul was at the top.
@GizziesGirl2 I realise that...and I have absolute respect for Paul...but having played in bands myself ...not to be able to inject any note whatsoever to his score would have been hard for all the other "superstars" but at the time they would have done anything to be in with Paul's circle of friends...And I still want to know why Ray Cooper is featured??? He's like a fashion accessory.
He is the master...nothing else can be said.

This is great. I wish this was available to the public on DVD or BlueRay. I knew about this, I was surprised to see John Bonham playing drums.

It would have been a bit embarrassing if, after the first run through, Paul said "Nah, sorry lads, it just doesn't work like I imagined it. Sorry" !

@6:51 Interesting how Paul says, "THE Pink Floyd."
rusty1491 11 months ago
@rusty1491
They were called The Pink Floyd in the 60's, so veteran rockers like Paul were probably still used to using the "The" even by that late date.

Damn, Paul's a genius!! He seems to have a entire orchestra in the head...
