Great video. Puts it all together which you don't see often. Check out a doco called 'for all mankind' which is told by a lot of the apollo astronauts across the whole program. Amazing stuff and rare footage.
Does this mean the LLM was crashed on the moon after beeing jettisoned away from the Command Module? Or has it been slingshotted away into deep space?
More and more I think of these flights to Moon afterwards, I cannot but to ADMIRE the literally BRILLIANT Space - Technology planning ALREADY over 40 years ago. Breathtaking achievements by ALL involved.
@Paulxo I believe it was left to crash back down onto the lunar surface. It's there right now, possibly in pieces. Such a waste of a good piece of history. It was probably best we stopped. The moon is littered with at least four, possibly six, I believe, lunar modules--ascent and descent stages. The lunar ascent stage, a jewel of technology, a piece of art, and a perfectly engineered spacecraft, discarded like an old soda can.
Yeah I did some research, it does seem amazing to us now that they'd just let them crash into the moon. But I suppose the Moon has had a few things hit it in its time.
oh my god! that's amazing compared to mine!

Nice work, the only resource I was able to find that clearly illustrates all the working parts in getting to the moon. Thanks.

Firing the service rocket *towards* the Moon? Shouldn't it be in the opposite direction if it hoped to establish orbit?

Very nice. What happened to the Lunar module then? Did it get left orbiting the moon?

A great movie and a great triumph indeed.
Shame that it's 40 years ago already and we didn't continue to expand humanity in space since.
