@TheLanGod i think thats because this guy used a mod which also included a missing line that was supposed to be in the original game and the stabbing part. Well i dunno if Obsidian(the creators of the game) planned to have that in there or not but its still 10 times better in so many diffrent ways than Kreia using force Coche(i spelled it wrong i know) like she does in the original version.
Well ether way Kreia is one of my favorite characters of all time.
It was one of the many amazing parts of TSL that was cut from the original rushed released for an extremely odd reason, tis' sad to see it as cut content as it looks so very incredible, truly... ^^
What happened to you, Bioware? THIS is the kind of dialogue that made you what you are today, and now you desecrated it in the most horrible of ways.
You retconned it out of existence.
All this intrigue. This amazing story. These amazing characters. This view of the force. You killed them all without a shred of remorse. Are you satisfied about what you have done? Are you satisfied about what you have wrought? If so, then you are beyond saving. QUITE LITERALLY, you are the death of the force.
@VermilionMage Obsidian make kotor 2. Obsidian has always had great fucking writing in all their games. I enjoy bioware's games, but even i'll admit that their writing isn't very imaginative nor complex, their writing has always been rather boring and so-so. Just look at the story of kotor 1 compared to kotor 2.
@kingneptune24 Oh. You're right. However, Bioware made the first KotOR and the point still stands that they destroyed their own lore for no good reason.
Best mentor you could ever ask for. No one has the same depth and veiws on life as her I wish she was in every RPG game. Not preaching right and wrong or being constricted by the jedi code or sith hate she was the wisest of all people in any game.
@Hamptoncltn dude you aint lyin. I feel like i should play through the game again now that im older and life has colored my innocent perspectives of the world. See whats realy being taught by the medium of the SW universe
Holy crap. I love both KOTOR 1 + 2 but havent played 2 in about a year. Watching this again it felt like playing again and I felt that pain and failure again. After the time I went to down the path of the side in this game, I never did again, only towards the light of neutral.
Kreia is a great master, more then any jedi or sith can ever be. For she walked both pats, and found her own, nor slave to the impulses of the dark side, nor slave to the misplaced kindness of the light side.
"Be careful of charity and kindness, lest you do more harm with open hands than with a clenched fist."
I mean light side points in the second line to go on what I said kriea is alot more pleased if you act like her as a dark sider use decepetion and treachery to remove enemies. Plus killing the masters does not give you the information you want and killing the jedi masters shows you become a tool to the dark side like sion and nihilus thus kriea deems you a faliure.
Erm kreia is still won't view you as a failure if you are dark side and let the masters live while helping the masters with their problems I did not even gain dark side points. Also if you are dark side and act like darth sidious than a implusive brute kriea will be more impressed cause almost all her inf gains are dark side where you manipulate other people to get what you want she wants you to be a cunning dark sider not one that kills everything around them. This is just what I think.
It's a testament to both Sara Kestelman's (Kreia's voice) great VA and Chris Avellone's (main writer for KotoR 2) damn good writing that an eight minute monologue is still far more compelling then most of today's games entire story, plot and setting.
I have come to see that you cant realy make her happy by chossing one side. if i go darkside she complains that i am nothing but a killer, if i am light side she says i am a loser who brings weakness to other by my aide. some times she wants you to do things that are going to earn you dark side points, and other times that are light side points. so the only way to make her happy. is to be 100% Gray. :P

She is a great teacher, even if her lessons are fucked up a whole lot, she has a great teachers voice, and she has to be one of my favorite jedi/sith because shes so manipulative and cruel, but also funny as hell, the way she fucks with the disciple, fuckin hilarious
@Kahiara With the LS path, you fail her, but they are present to remain ignorant and become her main focus anyway. Her purpouse was always to show the Jedi Counsel, and all those who betrayed her, the truth, and there is simply no way to do that.
She explains this so much more clearly when DS! I play LS and in the past (not this game but others) I never had enough influence to find this stuff out - so the first time I completed it, I got to the end and had no idea what had happened. Just replayed it with the TSLRCM mod and understood all of this, but it's not said as obviously at all as this! Damn you DS for getting an obvious explanation!
@lordoflonghairc It's like Drill Sargeant Hartman from the movie Full Metal Jacket says to his corp on his iconic intro monologue: Because I am hard, you will not like me. But the more you hate me, the more you will learn.
This applies to Kreia, in a more subtle way, yet appropiate nonetheless. Kreia despised the force, deeming it as poison that works both sides, she blamed it for all the wars between the Jedi and the Sith, between light and dark sides, so she wanted the exile to learn that.
Kreia is such a fascinating character. She actually reminds a lot of Galadriel from LOTR, not sure why... guess its because she's so full of mystery and wisdom.
I've played this game several times all the way through, an while she is manipulative and powerful and understanding,e tc, that doesn't make her "Wise" in any real way.
In the end, she is a neutral evil villain.
In the game universe, her attempt and belief of destroying the Force is just as insane and foolish as would be Satan believing he could kill God and take his place or something.
@craftmatic2 You truly don't understand her character. She is not a "natural evil villain", manipulative and cunning yes, but she doesn't seek power for powers sake or have some filmsy, one dimensional villain rational like so may other video game antagonists.
@craftmatic2 She seeks the death of the force because the force is cruel, because the force doesn't care about the lives it consumes, it only cares about maintaining some semblance of balance. How can you disagree with that? I love star wars and even I can nod at that rational.
@craftmatic2 Even if you disagree that the force somehow influences the various events, then the power it gives certainly does. Look at the history of the Star Wars universe, without the force it would be a lot less bloody, and you cannot present any rational argument against that.
@craftmatic2 Kreia is only a villain in that she knows what she wants and she is willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal, she knows that short term it will kill many, but save that many more in the long run.
And saying she isn't wise is idiocy. Have you truly listened to her speak? What, did you just get offended because she seemed 'too mean' and not pay attention? Is having a character who isn't strictly of black and white morality in star wars just too much for you to handle?
@craftmatic2 i disagree, she was the only one that saw that the "balance" the Force brings was not good. for every act of kindness, a cruel one is created to counteract it. The force was an uncaring entity which cared nothing of lives, only its selfish balance. The Exile and the Yuhzang Vong are proof that life can exist without the Force, so it was perfectly reasonable that the Force can be killed. If you look at the history of star wars, most of the problems of that universe are Force-related.
@nyuurocks Kreia was quite bitter by the time she'd figured it out first. After all, she trained Revan. Revan was moved by compassion to intervene in the Mandalorian wars and as a result Kreia was cast out from the Jedi Order. She followed Revan and found the Trayus Academy and was cast out by the Sith. Rejected by either side she came to the conclusion that what happened to her was a result of Revan's compassion, just as Revan's fall was
@craftmatic2 you are wrong in your assessment of kreia. Her wisdom comes form seeing both sides of the force for what they are.She views the force as indifferent god. She revels that if she destroys the force the universe will fall back into place. And in away what she was doing is allowing nature to rebulid its self. The problem with the jedi and the sith are that they represent both extremes of human nature kreia was the closest thing to a glanced being. She saw both for what they were.
I must make a comment on the epicness of the musical cues throughout this vid. Best part is towards the end, when Kreia says "The only one that could change what is to come" at 7:30. The theme that comes up is the main theme for the game, as well as the theme from the Kreia's Fall cutscene. It's one of the greastest cues I have seen. It fits perfectly.
@WhiteTiger225 I bet you haven't played through this game. This is the CLIMACTIC action of the game. Everything else after this is the falling actions, leading to the end. This explains everything, everything that the exile has done throughout the entire game.
This is deep, and although she may ramble, this is perhaps the most important scene in the game.
@WhiteTiger225 Obviously it would bore someone of your insignificant intellect, as you probably don't even understand what the word "utterly" means. Go play something more according to your IQ level, like WoW.
Most of the subject matter here is explained in at least as much detail throughout the game, so I imagine this was cut due to redundancy, although it's interesting to hear all this at once.
Plus, that's how Qui-Gon Jinn died! And she just walks away? The lightsaber logic doesn't add up.
I do not think Kreia is evil, I simply think she is wise enough to predict the consequences of her actions. If it wasn't for her Darth Nihilus would've consumed the galaxy, her betrayal saved the galaxy. About the Jedi, I can quote her saying "I never wanted them dead, defeated perhaps. I merely wished them to see that they, and their teachings were wrong." All she did was to prepare the exile for what is to come, so that when the time came the exile would be up to the task.
This is what I understand : Kreia is a sith that wants not the jedi to be destroyed but to teach them that to teach them the real way of understanding the force with bonds and lives and to expand that teaching to more and more people so that the force itself may become one... (please correct me if im wrong)
@trevuar25 She makes sense, and the only way to end the relationship with a character like her in this type of game was to have that happen. Perhaps you should think about what she said a little more
If you can't see the brilliance in this game and Kreia for that matter, than I don't think you are eligible to judge RPGs at all. Just clear your mind and think about it, for the final time if needs be.
The magic of Kotor 2 compared to Kotor 1 was that Kotor 2 had a lot to do with points of view, teaching and philosophy. This game was deep, especially for a game. Even if you realize the consequences of your actions in real life you get to actually simulate them and see the effects here. And here u get to evaluate the past decisions and consequences of the jedi civil war. This is what made me play, and kept me immersed until the end. Story owns action.
@ffox91 - Yep. Kreia, HK-47, Atton, G0-T0... they're all going to be replaced by 13-year-old boys who have never even watched 'The Empire Strikes Back'. It's gonna be fun. :-|
@ffox91 I don't dislike Revan or his history, we always need a Anakin or Luke or Revan type of guy. Someone needs to be a hero.
But what I meant was, that a game like this where people can actually be immersed in intelligent thinking, logic, and philosophy, That is something special.
they should have made a 3rd game in this series instead of all 3 episodes of the new trilogy. and i still hope everyday that they do, but alas i know they will not, cause they are making fallout new vegas and swtor but a fanboy can dream :(
"You must understand, I did not wish the Jedi dead. Defeated... perhaps. I merely wished them to see that they AND their teachings were wrong. That one could not truly understand the force simply by adhering to the Jedi Code."
Amazing... only KOTOR 2 to challenge the very basic elements of Star Wars. When are we ever going to hear something like this again?
KOTOR 2 is, to me, the most valuable piece of SW canon. And there's never going to be anything like it. Only generic stories from now on.
really great philosophies, i cant believe the guys would put something this deep in star wars, and then cut it out! I believe the teachings of Kreia involve seeing everything, and then go beyond that. Like solving a complex puzzel. If the dark side is half and the light side is the other half, Kreia expanded her view, and saw the overall picture. Not saying how the light side is good, or how the dark side is evil. Her speech teaches us all a important lesson in life.
I actually love Kreia's character. She was so right. The Jedi were foolish to think their code was the be all and end all of the force. Yet her ideals were like that of an angsty teenager who goes through a new phase every week. Had the Jedi not exiled her, she would not have joined the Sith. Had the Sith not exiled her she wouldn't have wanted the death of the force. She believed in the phase of the time. She was just lucky that her current one made sense and severed a purpose before her death.
Well of course her philosophy changed as she gained new knowledge. Her journey to her epiphany was exactly that: a journey. When her basic assumptions about her reality were challenged she did what any intellectual would do. She said "Ok, reality is not as I think it should be. So I will reevaluate what I take as a given based on my new experiences and reformulate my philosophy based on the results." Kreia's a thinker.
hmm what does she mean not find the masters but yourself i mean i sorta understand but didnt she still wanna kill the jedi masters i mean she does admit it before u kill her
no she wanted to pass judgement on the jedi masters ,. the dark side isnt all about just killing. its mainly about controling, manipulating, so the exile failed her by just killing them.
This is the most complex story I have ever seen from the Star Wars franchise the dialouge is so rich and well written this is really an intellectual game.
I understand this part and how Kreia would be disappointed in the Exile but what did Kreia hope to achieve at Malachor V? Destroy the force completely?
And how does killing Kreia mean that Exile learnt anything? Is it going back to Malachor V and not falling to the Dark Side which is turning away from power and what Kreia wants?
@teooo To be honest i think that is sort of the point of it, your own guess your own journey, i mean each and every person will get a diffrent answer.
@teooo No, when you pick your prestige class, she talks about facing your past. That was the Exiles last test, to face his past at the place he lost his connection with the force.
@krtica2 She tried to teach the dark side. To show that to fully understand the Force you have to know both sides. The Jedi Masters only saw it as teaching the ideology they didn't like so they condemned her students. She eventually wanted to kill the force and when she came upon the exile, a person where the force is absent, she saw that the force could be wounded. She believed the Exile could help her kill the force since she believed it was no longer needed for life.
@krtica2 my question exactly. I finaly understood the bits about the force wounds and echoes thamnks to wookiepedia, but still dont get what kreia is trying to teach
Kreia is pretty much like a woman Sidious, except... she's way more... epic, and it that way, far more evil. Sidious wanted to bring back the Sith and so he may reflect the Ancient Sith Empire only in his image. However, Kreia wanted to teach the Force and teach the Jedi and Sith how phenominal the Universe would be if nobody knew about it... Of course you can't kill the Force like if you killed a star, but to stop its effects from giving life, you can... block it...
Nope she is one of the Sith Darth Traya. She uses her words to manipulate everyone around her. She gets you to trust her to think she does things for the greater good. But then she deceives you.
@Rdwarrior246 - That's the thing though. 'Darth Traya' is just as much of a facade as 'Kreia' is. Her objectives go beyond the goals of either the Sith or the Jedi, as she admits during her final conversation with the Exile. She seeks to destroy the Force, or to destroy the galaxy's connexion to it, a goal entirely different to either of the sects devoted to it. Yes, she is a deceiver. But that doesn't automatically make her evil.
@PuissantAlgernon Thats what i loved about it... You never knew if she was good or evil... Was she trying to destroy the force becuase it would destroy both jedi and sith ultimately saving countless lives in the wars to come? Or did she do it to try and kill everyone?

@craftmatic2 You truly don't understand her character. She is not a "natural evil villain", manipulative and cunning yes, but she doesn't seek power for powers sake or have some filmsy, one dimensional villain rational like so may other video game antagonists.
mephitofthelake 7 months ago 2
@craftmatic2 She seeks the death of the force because the force is cruel, because the force doesn't care about the lives it consumes, it only cares about maintaining some semblance of balance. How can you disagree with that? I love star wars and even I can nod at that rational.
mephitofthelake 7 months ago 2
@craftmatic2 Even if you disagree that the force somehow influences the various events, then the power it gives certainly does. Look at the history of the Star Wars universe, without the force it would be a lot less bloody, and you cannot present any rational argument against that.
mephitofthelake 7 months ago
@craftmatic2 Kreia is only a villain in that she knows what she wants and she is willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal, she knows that short term it will kill many, but save that many more in the long run.
And saying she isn't wise is idiocy. Have you truly listened to her speak? What, did you just get offended because she seemed 'too mean' and not pay attention? Is having a character who isn't strictly of black and white morality in star wars just too much for you to handle?
mephitofthelake 7 months ago
@craftmatic2 In the end, I hope you are just a troll trying to get a rise out of people, if so then bravo, you succeeded. Ass.
mephitofthelake 7 months ago
@craftmatic2 i disagree, she was the only one that saw that the "balance" the Force brings was not good. for every act of kindness, a cruel one is created to counteract it. The force was an uncaring entity which cared nothing of lives, only its selfish balance. The Exile and the Yuhzang Vong are proof that life can exist without the Force, so it was perfectly reasonable that the Force can be killed. If you look at the history of star wars, most of the problems of that universe are Force-related.
nyuurocks 7 months ago
@nyuurocks Kreia was quite bitter by the time she'd figured it out first. After all, she trained Revan. Revan was moved by compassion to intervene in the Mandalorian wars and as a result Kreia was cast out from the Jedi Order. She followed Revan and found the Trayus Academy and was cast out by the Sith. Rejected by either side she came to the conclusion that what happened to her was a result of Revan's compassion, just as Revan's fall was
tammyscotland 7 months ago

Ever since I read the 48 Laws of Power, this scene has made SO much more sense... NOT for the faint of heart though...

Kreia is my favorite character in the whole star wars universe. Why? She is always open minded, and doesn't have a narrow minded view of the force

Can she just shut the fuck up and get to the point already? I like deep convo's but.. that was just a bunch of nonsense yammering.
WhiteTiger225 11 months ago
@WhiteTiger225 I bet you haven't played through this game. This is the CLIMACTIC action of the game. Everything else after this is the falling actions, leading to the end. This explains everything, everything that the exile has done throughout the entire game.
This is deep, and although she may ramble, this is perhaps the most important scene in the game.

Urflust 1 year ago
This is what I understand : Kreia is a sith that wants not the jedi to be destroyed but to teach them that to teach them the real way of understanding the force with bonds and lives and to expand that teaching to more and more people so that the force itself may become one... (please correct me if im wrong)

PuissantAlgernon 1 year ago
@ffox91 I don't dislike Revan or his history, we always need a Anakin or Luke or Revan type of guy. Someone needs to be a hero.
But what I meant was, that a game like this where people can actually be immersed in intelligent thinking, logic, and philosophy, That is something special.

Only generic stories from now on.

masterskywalker73 1 year ago
really great philosophies, i cant believe the guys would put something this deep in star wars, and then cut it out! I believe the teachings of Kreia involve seeing everything, and then go beyond that. Like solving a complex puzzel. If the dark side is half and the light side is the other half, Kreia expanded her view, and saw the overall picture. Not saying how the light side is good, or how the dark side is evil. Her speech teaches us all a important lesson in life.

i never understood creia...proubably couse i never listened to her couse she was kinda boring...but not much...
MotherPunker970 1 year ago
I actually love Kreia's character. She was so right. The Jedi were foolish to think their code was the be all and end all of the force. Yet her ideals were like that of an angsty teenager who goes through a new phase every week. Had the Jedi not exiled her, she would not have joined the Sith. Had the Sith not exiled her she wouldn't have wanted the death of the force. She believed in the phase of the time. She was just lucky that her current one made sense and severed a purpose before her death.
ninjawest12 1 year ago 2
@ninjawest12

I understand this part and how Kreia would be disappointed in the Exile but what did Kreia hope to achieve at Malachor V? Destroy the force completely?
And how does killing Kreia mean that Exile learnt anything? Is it going back to Malachor V and not falling to the Dark Side which is turning away from power and what Kreia wants?
teooo 1 year ago
@teooo To be honest i think that is sort of the point of it, your own guess your own journey, i mean each and every person will get a diffrent answer.
akatsukifanboy102 1 year ago
@teooo No, when you pick your prestige class, she talks about facing your past. That was the Exiles last test, to face his past at the place he lost his connection with the force.

I STILL don't get it...What's her point? what's her idea?
What did she TRY to teach?
Can anyone explain ? ? ?
krtica2 1 year ago
@krtica2 She tried to teach the dark side. To show that to fully understand the Force you have to know both sides. The Jedi Masters only saw it as teaching the ideology they didn't like so they condemned her students. She eventually wanted to kill the force and when she came upon the exile, a person where the force is absent, she saw that the force could be wounded. She believed the Exile could help her kill the force since she believed it was no longer needed for life.
Jamez773 1 year ago
@krtica2 my question exactly. I finaly understood the bits about the force wounds and echoes thamnks to wookiepedia, but still dont get what kreia is trying to teach
shriramvenu 1 year ago
Kreia is pretty much like a woman Sidious, except... she's way more... epic, and it that way, far more evil. Sidious wanted to bring back the Sith and so he may reflect the Ancient Sith Empire only in his image. However, Kreia wanted to teach the Force and teach the Jedi and Sith how phenominal the Universe would be if nobody knew about it... Of course you can't kill the Force like if you killed a star, but to stop its effects from giving life, you can... block it...

LordXehenniar 2 years ago
@LordXehenniar - I wouldn't really describe her as a Sith, to be honest. To me, she seemed to be no more a Sith than a Jedi.
PuissantAlgernon 2 years ago
Nope she is one of the Sith Darth Traya. She uses her words to manipulate everyone around her. She gets you to trust her to think she does things for the greater good. But then she deceives you.
Rdwarrior246 2 years ago
@Rdwarrior246 - That's the thing though. 'Darth Traya' is just as much of a facade as 'Kreia' is. Her objectives go beyond the goals of either the Sith or the Jedi, as she admits during her final conversation with the Exile. She seeks to destroy the Force, or to destroy the galaxy's connexion to it, a goal entirely different to either of the sects devoted to it. Yes, she is a deceiver. But that doesn't automatically make her evil.
PuissantAlgernon 2 years ago 2
@PuissantAlgernon Thats what i loved about it... You never knew if she was good or evil... Was she trying to destroy the force becuase it would destroy both jedi and sith ultimately saving countless lives in the wars to come? Or did she do it to try and kill everyone?

@SlayerPDX - Indeed!
