The drill motor is spinning the flywheel of a hand crank inertia starter. The gear reduction is pretty amazing, and the starter is not even close to being "spooled up" as it normally would be. Thus the crankshaft is turning quite slow during start up.

how is it you can start that with a drill? does the drill wind a spring or something along those lines?
