Let's just cut to the chase - I think what we're all trying to say is that ara batur is the most perfect , beautiful and amazing piece of music that has ever existed from the start of time to the end of time . I hope that's the issue settled, thank you
Nice sentiment. But I believe the Kingdom of Heaven is within all mankind, not a single man, nor a single place. It's in you, in me. It's everywhere. We're just in a time of darkness. We'll awaken eventually.
In the meantime thousands of people loathes music listening david guetta, pitbull, rihanna and other dull things on youtube. May their critical sense and their taste of the discovery rest in peace. Amen.
@tacogrl14 Oh, hahahaha. You are a genius! I get it because 9:15 is the end of the video, and thus the worst part is when it ends. 10/10 for the creativity!
If there is ever another spacecraft like Voyager, there should be no debate about this being one of our musical achievements fit to send out into the cosmos.
Finally I have listened to this song the way it's supposed to be listened to. Alone, in the dark, Audiotechnica ATH-M50s, hooked up to my Fiio E7, hooked up to my laptop, in FLAC format. I am shedding tears in amounts that I did not think possible.
(the song is Jónsi talking about a friend who was always there and never judged him; in the final verses he goes into metaphor about the friend rowing a boat (the title means Row Boat) through choppy waters and almost drowning, and about him being a light in the fog 'ljós í þokuna')
@MaskFaceDude It's always nice to get a translation. Even though their music can just be felt it also is heartening to know the lyrics are just as profound as the sound. Thanks.
In the first eight second kjarri's piano play touches so deep my body,my mind, my soul, my whole spirit, so that I forget everything around me and calm down, calm down from all daily earthy stress, it touches me so deep that I am just here, once with the piano, and the pure LOVE this guys transport through their music...this music is love, it connects me with my love-side in me...Thank you so much, you are always with me, my safeguard!
Simply Amazing. I had always wondered and often made fun of the people I knew that told me they had life changing experiences while listening to them. As soon as I took the time to listen and take it all in, I fell into that same category. There are no words to describe how beautiful this music really is.
this sog makes me wanna cry tears of joy.i just can't get over how beautiful his voice is. and those nine people who disliked this video, they have no idea what ture beauty is.
This is better than sex, and religion. It's the entire universe and every emotion in one song. One life changing song. I show this to ppl and I eagerly look at them like " Are you changed forever"? I love Sigur Ros, and I may not understand what they're saying , I feel it. All of it. A higher power gave them their ability and I am in Awe.
I was listening to this song as the sun rose through my window.. I think this song brings out every emotion i have.. I literally can not listen to this song without it bringing out some sort of very strong emotional response in me. I love Sigur Ros more than i can explain.
This song makes me think of an old man, dying in a hospital bed, surrounded by the people he loves. As his strength fades, memories pass before him...his mother's smile, the feeling of the sun, his first heartbreak, the first time he made love, his favorite song, the laughter and tears he shared throughout his life. As he whispers his final goodbyes, he smiles and hopes he leaves the world a better place because he was in it. Sadness and joy, hope and loss...life is beautiful.
What has this world come to? Hatred, war, violence, suicide rates at an all time high. Sometimes I think that there is nothing that can take my mind off of the Kid Soldiers and all the death and the racism. But I have learned over the past 4 years Sigur Ros can do that. They bring a smile to everyone's faces. This world may never have worldwide peace but there are things we can do to forget about it and think about how we can help put an end to the madness. There's a place for you somewhere!
The only band with such universal language that it makes me really listen to what they are saying (both with instruments and singing), even though I can't understand them.
to say that this falcetta is good, would be a lie...its amazing, it uplifting...sad...happy...its every emotion that i can think of...this is what heaven must sound like...brilliant...x
Sublime and otherworldly, Completly Ineffeble, This is what music should be, a communication between the corporeal and the divine. Cannot wait to get the new cd/dvd.
OMG...words actually cannot describe just how moved jonsi has made me...this is the only song, that actually had me welled up...reason i am here? Vanilla Sky...love this to bits...thank you for the upload...x
I am trying to study at the moment about theories of nature and politics and this makes me realize that the answer is wordless. How to study when you are this overwhelmed and mystified by something so profound and soul-quivering, who knows.
13.7 billion years, countless generations of stars and galaxies, nearly 4 billion years of evolution, millions of years of human development, centuries of learning and decades of advanced technology have all come down to 9 minutes and 16 seconds of vibrations in my ears that stirs the deepest emotions of my being and effortlessly whips my synapses into a frenzy of pure ecstasy. This is the reason for existence, moments like these.

No matter how cruel we are to one another.
No matter how hopeless it all seems. This brings hope , in a hopeless , scary world. For that I thank you, Sigur Ros.
