  • 9:08 "well...fuck, lunch break,"

  • @flemingryanr Yeah Ára bátur is rowing boat.

  • ahhhh.... 1:01

that part where he goes into falsetto... each time he sings it, it gives me shivers down my spine and into my anus.

  • la barca que parte, ara batur,

de cierta manera tubiste que caer en mi vida.......y con los dificiles problemas que tengo para dejarte, tu partiras.......

  • 8:50 - 9:10 ... A moment of unified transcendence.

  • Let's just cut to the chase - I think what we're all trying to say is that ara batur is the most perfect , beautiful and amazing piece of music that has ever existed from the start of time to the end of time . I hope that's the issue settled, thank you

  • FfancyCcrash no digas mamadas Si sabes sabes pendejo. Chinga tu madre

  • I'm starting to believe that God truly exists

  • @darren1naudi

It's not God, it's your humanity. Welcome to the human race, please stay awhile. (:

  • Maybe being situated towards the North, Iceland is closest to Heaven

  • @darren1naudi

Nice sentiment. But I believe the Kingdom of Heaven is within all mankind, not a single man, nor a single place. It's in you, in me. It's everywhere. We're just in a time of darkness. We'll awaken eventually.

  • The most beautiful piece of music out at the moment

  • beautiful

  • just quite simply ...after so many viewings/listenings... Awesome!

  • This song always reminds me of "My Little Dashie"... Omg my heart is melting.

  • :)

  • In the meantime thousands of people loathes music listening david guetta, pitbull, rihanna and other dull things on youtube. May their critical sense and their taste of the discovery rest in peace. Amen.

  • I can't get over the fact that this is live...

  • the worst part was 9:15.

  • Hermoso me traslada a mi pasado

  • @90cta395 Keeping it light...

  • wow. tearing up. i have heard the recording of this but never saw the video that went with. pop music can suck it.

  • row boat (ara batur translation)

    You tried everything

    Yes, a thousand times

    Experienced enough

    Been through enough

But you it was who let everything

    Into my heart

and you it was who once again

    Awoke my spirit

    I parted, you parted

  • If there is ever another spacecraft like Voyager, there should be no debate about this being one of our musical achievements fit to send out into the cosmos.

  • @StoryNClark Write to whomever you need to in order to make this happen.

  • Finally I have listened to this song the way it's supposed to be listened to. Alone, in the dark, Audiotechnica ATH-M50s, hooked up to my Fiio E7, hooked up to my laptop, in FLAC format. I am shedding tears in amounts that I did not think possible.

  • straight to my heart and soul ........until death and beyond .....

  • @theRainmakerable ...To infinity and beyond..

  • So beautiful...! I love Sigur Ros more and more - their 2001 Lisbon concert got me hooked forever.

What's that amp at 9:03? Does anyone know?

  • @stalkmeimfamous Learn it! That's what I did :)

(the song is Jónsi talking about a friend who was always there and never judged him; in the final verses he goes into metaphor about the friend rowing a boat (the title means Row Boat) through choppy waters and almost drowning, and about him being a light in the fog 'ljós í þokuna')

  • @MaskFaceDude It's always nice to get a translation. Even though their music can just be felt it also is heartening to know the lyrics are just as profound as the sound. Thanks.

  • I wish I spoke icelandic..

  • @stalkmeimfam0us ahahhahaa yeah... me too... i don't understand nothing he is saying. but is catching

  • Um dos melhores sons que jah ouvi!

  • In the first eight second kjarri's piano play touches so deep my body,my mind, my soul, my whole spirit, so that I forget everything around me and calm down, calm down from all daily earthy stress, it touches me so deep that I am just here, once with the piano, and the pure LOVE this guys transport through their music...this music is love, it connects me with my love-side in me...Thank you so much, you are always with me, my safeguard!

  • <3

  • Sigur Rós cuando los escucho, creo de nuevo en la humanidad! Que grandes son!

  • Beautiful....

  • Un moment divin dans ce monde de bruts!!!! Du grand Sigur Ros

  • If you don't feel it deep in your mind, your soul and your balls, you're not human.

  • Simply Amazing. I had always wondered and often made fun of the people I knew that told me they had life changing experiences while listening to them. As soon as I took the time to listen and take it all in, I fell into that same category. There are no words to describe how beautiful this music really is.

  • this sog makes me wanna cry tears of joy.i just can't get over how beautiful his voice is. and those nine people who disliked this video, they have no idea what ture beauty is.

  • Unbelievable!!!!

  • had no idea there was an accompanying vid to this..and that it was done in 1 take which ended up on the LP..

incredible performance...nobody comes close to these guys

  • wayyy too tender <3 so beautiful

  • This is better than sex, and religion. It's the entire universe and every emotion in one song. One life changing song. I show this to ppl and I eagerly look at them like " Are you changed forever"? I love Sigur Ros, and I may not understand what they're saying , I feel it. All of it. A higher power gave them their ability and I am in Awe.

  • I was listening to this song as the sun rose through my window.. I think this song brings out every emotion i have.. I literally can not listen to this song without it bringing out some sort of very strong emotional response in me. I love Sigur Ros more than i can explain.

  • i can't understand him

  • Godlike

  • Moves me to tears, each and every time.

  • I find it both interesting, and odd the amount of English speaking fans there are. Then again I guess music is a universal language

  • cinematic and breathtaking...

  • je voudrais savoir comment avoir la vidéo? merci

  • Ha, they nailed that bastard, top tune, well-up everytime.

  • I feel sorry for the 9 dislikers...

    Such a great song.

  • pretty much extra groovy with a side of super happy funtime sauce

  • One shot. No editing. Performed perfectly. Flawless!

  • i don't understand a word, but it's so beautiful:)

  • This song makes me think of an old man, dying in a hospital bed, surrounded by the people he loves. As his strength fades, memories pass before him...his mother's smile, the feeling of the sun, his first heartbreak, the first time he made love, his favorite song, the laughter and tears he shared throughout his life. As he whispers his final goodbyes, he smiles and hopes he leaves the world a better place because he was in it. Sadness and joy, hope and loss...life is beautiful.

  • @90cta395 amazing words

  • @90cta395 that comment made me cry.

  • @90cta395 You're God

  • good god sigur ros :o

  • idk wtf Jonsi is sayin but it sounds cool

  • Damn! Jónsi looks nice

  • A possible candidate for my funeral. So much beauty in this song.

  • This is so fucking beautiful in so many different ways.

  • What has this world come to? Hatred, war, violence, suicide rates at an all time high. Sometimes I think that there is nothing that can take my mind off of the Kid Soldiers and all the death and the racism. But I have learned over the past 4 years Sigur Ros can do that. They bring a smile to everyone's faces. This world may never have worldwide peace but there are things we can do to forget about it and think about how we can help put an end to the madness. There's a place for you somewhere!

  • Predivno!

  • great.thank you.

  • Oh my I melt for this song ♥

  • This literally brought me to tears. I don't even understand how or why. But I know this music is supremely beautiful.

  • God roaring love into a world not yet understood

people as dinasours not yet loved

the weakest person the ultimate soul

everybody needs to play its role

you cannot fly until you crawl across this land

and everybody you see you give them a hand

for the first will be last and the last will dream

of a world thats about to begin

  • Quite possibly the most beautiful song I have ever heard...speechless...

  • i have never cried like this hearing somebody's singing

  • Comment removed

  • I'm crying...

  • The only band with such universal language that it makes me really listen to what they are saying (both with instruments and singing), even though I can't understand them.

  • Oh. Snap.

  • to say that this falcetta is good, would be a lie...its amazing, it uplifting...sad...happy...its every emotion that i can think of...this is what heaven must sound like...brilliant...x

  • oh my fucking god, this is music, music with emotion attached to it, this is not just music, it is a whole new language all together :)

  • near heaven experience .

  • The pianist looks like jake gylenhal and the singer looks like the nazi guy from inglorious bastards

  • @gorth419 That is not funny.

  • Sublime and otherworldly, Completly Ineffeble, This is what music should be, a communication between the corporeal and the divine. Cannot wait to get the new cd/dvd.

  • OMG...words actually cannot describe just how moved jonsi has made me...this is the only song, that actually had me welled up...reason i am here? Vanilla Sky...love this to bits...thank you for the upload...x

  • This is such a stunningly beautiful song, that it hurts me to the core.

On a side note: From 5:18 to 5:25, Jonsi's feet movements directly match the beat of the music. So unintentionally perfect.

  • At the Library among lot of people, everybody was looking at me wondering why I was crying and smiling.

  • I am trying to study at the moment about theories of nature and politics and this makes me realize that the answer is wordless. How to study when you are this overwhelmed and mystified by something so profound and soul-quivering, who knows.

  • This is the best song ever recorded in the history of music.

  • flowing through a world not yet unkown

inside a space of amazing grace

you and me underneath the tree

lost and born found and discovered

    walking running flying into life

    tomorrow today yesterday tonight

before we were born the day we die

    everything alive everything died everything

  • @norton36456

    did you write this?

    it made me cry

  • @gumdrop4 yes ,its funny cause i wrote it in about 240 seconds and i was crying at the end..............it was like an out of body experience

  • I think maybe angels wish they had the voice of a Jónsi

  • 7:50 always gives me goosebumps and makes want to cry from the sheer happiness it fills me with. Such a beautiful song.

  • He has the voice of an angel.

  • Minha bandas prediletas, meus tesouros mais valiosos.

  • 13.7 billion years, countless generations of stars and galaxies, nearly 4 billion years of evolution, millions of years of human development, centuries of learning and decades of advanced technology have all come down to 9 minutes and 16 seconds of vibrations in my ears that stirs the deepest emotions of my being and effortlessly whips my synapses into a frenzy of pure ecstasy. This is the reason for existence, moments like these.

  • @JDvzs Thanks man, greatly appreciated. That's made my day in return, we're even!

  • @IamSpydaMic: spot on, I couldn't have said it better :-)

  • @amorim5000 Thanks :)

  • @IamSpydaMic - This has to be the most intelligent and not to mention "coolest" comment I've ever seen on You Tube. I was just introduced to this music today. I had no idea who Sigur Ros was. Now I'm glad I stumbled here. This was a very emotional listen.

  • @philnaccarato Thanks man, and it's great to hear you enjoyed these guys. If you would like to listen to some more, I'd recommend my personal favourites, 'Staralfur' and 'Popplagid'. Oh, and if the US is anything like the UK, you'll probably find you've heard 'Hoppipolla' before, and that's an amazing track too. Enjoy!

  • @IamSpydaMic Welcome to the internet...

  • @IamSpydaMic doesn't matter if you're a girl or a guy... Marry me.

It's amazing how you can express the way Sigur Rós makes us feel.

    Merely epic

  • @TonToni1894 Lol, deal! :)

  • @IamSpydaMic damn.....nuff said. are you a profesional critic?

  • @LemmonLizard Ha ha no, I just really, really admire this song. Thanks though!

  • at 7:50 it breaks, and Jonsi's face says it all. You can just tell his music contains all his heart and soul.

  • such a reminder to remember such talent as it passes through our time, through this earth, and that each one of us is as special as someone as gifted as the individuals who make such music. the equality found in our separation from something that exists upon heights far too grand to be grasped by imagination. this music helps brings us closer to such heights.

  • 5 dislikes is too much. I struggle to understand how someone couldn't like this. And by like, I mean absolutely love. I love this. And everyone should too.. just..incredible. Makes everything else almost seem insignificant.

  • j'en ai des frissons, que c'est beau !

  • Patience is a very rewarding thing, I felt a rush of energy run through my whole body, an experience I never felt before. I'm speechless at this moment

  • Okay, I just had an out of body experience listening to this!

    Unbelieveable

  • One word: Masterpiece
