Many of them went into space knowing they would never return, because their spacecraft were faulty.

@paulchartley .. .. NASA and many other Alphabet agencies were created by importing Ardent Nazis, via Operation Paper Clip. Of course the Corporation known as the UNITED STATES funded both sides of WWII, as they have done with ALL current WARS and conflicts around the world; does these facts come as a surprise to your flag waving, comrade?
