  • 04:22 Cross Stobbs! Good old Barrhead. I went to Auchenback Primary. Could've gone to Cross Arthurlie, but we moved house. Into one that had our own bathroom lol!

  • @Noodles37UK

Sharing a bathroom... is no good. When you gotta go, you gotta go LOL

  • unlike your reply to noodles ,cristean. the car park in the sky is where you would take your girlfriend at night and have a wee cuddle. a always thought the cars up there had frost on them. to my surprise it was a wee bit steamy inside lol

  • @rabblue

Yes! of course, I forgot to mention that... "The Carpark in the Sky" is where romance, relationships, marriages are either made, resolved or broken LOL

  • I was hanging about with people from out near Easterhouse about 15 years ago and they were talking about The Carpark in the Sky. So it must be well known far and wide.

  • @Noodles37UK

Yes! it's pretty well renouned. It's a favourite place for people to on their lunch break, sit it their cars enjoy the views while having some lunch, then go for a short walk in the park before returning to work.

For families to take their kids on the chutes, swings etc. [My wife & I have been there a few times with the grandkids] also for people to walk their dogs.

Mostly at night the youth take their cars motor bikes just driving about the car park.

  • Mr. MacDonald, I felt so nostalgic and reminiscent of the beautiful distant memories still sway my memory every now and then. Believe me strolling through the Cowan park with the girl I loved so much with her dog, embedded in my memory forever. I know I miss those moments of treasure as I stay in London. l love 2 go back to barrhead and in fact I did 2 months ago when i last visited Glasgow. May I ask you If u can manage to have some times at ur leisure, could u plz post a clip of Cowan park

  • @rockybba It's been a long time since I was last up at the Cowan Park. So next time I happen to take my granddaughters to the park, I 'll try to make it the [Cowan Park. I'll try to remember to take my camera with me lol.]

I'm not originally from Barrhead, I hail from the Isle of Lewis, but I've been living in Barrhead for 25yrs. Thanks again for your comments,

  • this video brings back a lot of memory for me. On the clip at 7:20, just when you go about the roundabout, turn right on your left u left the darnley road and the beautiful church. I used to go a lot in Barrhead to see a girl in ranking avenue off darnley road, wondered in the cowan park. I still got the beautiful memory of it. I like this wee town and I love Barrhead.

  • @rockybba Thanks! Glad you liked it, that's is St. John's church on the left. Also glad this vid brought back fond memories of Barrhead.

  • what was the point in this video?

  • @irofldtbqh We were out for a drive one day, I took my digital camera along, took some video clips, and this one of Barrhead etc. is so that people who used to live/visit had friend etc. in Barrhead will view the clip & hopefully it will bring back fond memories.

  • i was born in Barrhead and still live their today and no plans of leaving the town i love it its handy for Paisley and Glasgow and a short drive to the cost and i have the best neighbours ever and a lot of very good friends in the town

  • I stayyed in Barrhead almost 3 years ago now. Stayyed there for a month & a half. If I remember correctly I stayyed on Victoria Road, yes that correct. It has a little corner store on the street. Personally I rather there then Chicago, I made to many friends & I had to leave them behind.

  • @caiteebaybeexo Yes, that corner, on Victoria Road is still there. It's on the left of this Video from about 5:08 - 5:12

There are possitive & negative reasons to wherever people choose to live, whether it be Chicago or Barrhead.

Barrhead has some good, pretty quiet, friendly neibourhoods but it also has quite a lot areas which are not so quiet, neibourhoods where there's problems with substance & alchol abuse, anti-social behaviour etc. But all in all Barrhead is a good place to live.

  • I lived in Barrhead,Gorse Drive up by the Cross Arthurlie School, between 1968 till 1976.Recognise plenty still...think I caught a glimpse of the chippie where a bag of chips was 5 new pence and a big pickled onion a penny extra !!!! lol

  • @99fruitbat

Thnx for your comment! You won't get chips nowadays [2010] in Barrhead or anywhere else for 5p, As a matter it was just this afternoon, that I bought a take-away from the Alpino, 'one fish supper & two buttered rolls no pickles' lol. between myself & my wife [watching our diet] :-) & it was £5. 90

  • @99fruitbat that is the street i live in now.

  • Great videos! I lived in Paisley for a while and used to go to Barrhead a lot. :)

  • Thank You!

Hungry... a few miles from Barrhead & Paisley. lol

  • Would love to see the bit between 1.41 and 1.43 where you were starting to drive up the chain road and see Foxbar. I grew up there and would love to see what it looks like now.

  • Sorry Paul, but that's all I recorded I even checked the original clip before I did any editing, The only difference between the two is the added transition at 1:44.

    Thanks for your comment.
