Vera-Ellen dances in "Sadie Thompson" Scene

In this number Vera-Ellen shows that she could bump and grind with the sexiest of her contemporary burlesque queens. She wasn't as busty as most of them, but of course she was a better dancer than anyone outside of a few prima ballerinas. What a shame the studio execs put her on a starvation diet!

I loved this number so much I bought "Love Happy" as these things can often disappear from Youtube. Much to my surprise, this number in the movie is a little longer, with part of the dance cut out after the middle. Since this presentation is seamless, I can only surmise that it was taped from an edited copy of the movie.

Paul Valentine did have a dancing role. He preformed a very fine dance at the beginning, and Vera-Ellen also performed a wonderful ballet number, too.

...and Paul Valentine, the man with the dialog at the end, also shines despite not having a real dancing role. The two of them had chemistry.

A terrific song, wonderful arrangement, a half dozen or so good-looking guys, and one of the greatest dancers to ever grace the screen, Vera-Ellen, make for a very entertaining, exciting performance. I'm glad I'm old enough to appreciate it.
