  • I still can not get over the absolute difference in demeanor, attitude and personality between Rich hall and Otis lee Crenshaw.

He changes completely and when I watch this video I see NOTHING of Otis in Rich. Rich is a bit stiff and serious when he does his standup and laughs alot more at himself when he is Otis.

  • EPIC :D

  • Not all americans are braindead idiots or braindead w. idiots. This beatiful funny guy is one of the funnist that have ever been. Others? Ok: Mel Brooks (Blazing Saddles) W.C. Fields (Lots of stuff) David Letterman (Intelligent nice guy) Terry Gilliam (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (and mouch more)) The cohan brothers (Oh Brother Where Art Thou (and many more)) best regards
  • @dkjayjay

Most aren't, in fact. I can attest to that.

  • @sciences8 I agree to that! - i was actually joking, like Rich ;o) By the way, have you heard Rich's joke about Bill Gates?

Bill Gates is so rich, that if he put all his money under his maddress, and he then fell out of the bed - it would take hin 18 minutes to hit the floor.

  • @dkjayjay

Lol, that's pretty good. I actually don't watch Rich Hall that much, except when he's on QI- but he's always spot on when he comes on the show. I should buy a couple of his CD's/DVD's.

  • @sciences8 May I suggest some of Rich Halls best work?

    1."Looking for Jesus" in Paris

    2. "Cows come home"

    3. Belgian Chocolates.

    4. The Great debates part 1 & 2.

  • @MrYoubrian

Many thanks; these sound like a great place to start.

  • Rich Hall, sure makes me hate the americans a whole lot less :) <3

  • @Bones768 true fact that

  • The Color of Money is such a great film.

  • @NinkasiDelight

No, The Hustler was a great film. The Color of money was an okay film with Cruise being the worst part of it.

  • @NinkasiDelight If you liked The Color of Money then you will flat out love Pool Hall Junkies!!!!

  • 10 points to anyone who can list all the movies.

  • @MrNickeh Cocktail, Days of Thunder, Top Gun, Jerry MacGuire, Rain Man and I guess War of the Worlds but he said that one. The weird part is I knew them all straight away and I haven't even seen half the movies on that list.

  • Rich Hall never fails.

  • One of the best worked jokes ever made!

  • Tom Cruise should become a standup comedian. He'd be a pretty good standup comedian. Until he has a crisis of confidence, and can't be a standup comedian anymore. Then he'll meet Rich Hall who'll talk him into being a better Standup Comedian!

  • Aw, i liked Interview with the Vampire

  • @hardonnetwo Yeh, he was a pretty good vampire, until he had a crisis of confidence....

  • The two higheest rated comments said it perfectly. This is one of the best crafted jokes in the history of stand-up... Just a crying shame nowhere nearly enough peiople have seen it. 152,690 views, compared to the 200,000,000+ for a video of some baby biting a kids finger. I've been bit on the finger a few times... Wasn't fucking funny!

  • pure genius :D

  • He was a $cientologist, a pretty "good" $cientologist, until he has a crisis of confidence until he meets a good looking woman (Katey) who gets suckered into his cult and talks him into being ..

  • His never-changing expression.

  • The he was a spy ... and he was a pretty good spy ... till he had a crisis of confidence ... till he met Cameron diaz.... who was a pretty good woman ...

  • well crafted joke

  • before a seen this a said tht thing about tom cruise to ma m8 .jerry maguire is like tht 2

  • genius!!

  • If told any other way it would be a sad dad joke

  • I love how Rich Hall enveloped both UK and US cultures in that finely crafted joke. "crisis of consonants" always gets me.

  • this was good

  • Hey these comments are as funny as the joke.

  • Moe Szyslak

  • In war of the worlds he thinks he's a good father then he has a crisis of confidence until he has a life changing experience and becomes a better father... (pure bullox)

  • he missed out a few good men. which involves him being a pretty good lawyer who has a crisis of confidence and meets a woman who convinces him to be a better lawyer

  • Rich Hall is freaking hilarious :)

  • he reminds me of moe from the simpsons

  • @vulturevenom18 @vulturevenom18 Matt Groening once said in an interview, that Rich Hall was his inspiration for Moe. This guy used to be a big deal in the eighties.

  • @kleynan

Considering that Mr. Hall has never had a point in time where he hasn't had a television show or a sold out theater run, I'd say that he's still a "big deal"/

  • @vulturevenom18 Moe is based on him.

  • @vulturevenom18 he was the inspiration for moe according to matt groening -whatever the spelling is blehh

  • I wonder how many people in the audience heard the end joke which, to me, was the best part : "till he meets a lovely welsh woman who teaches him a lot of words he's never heard before"

  • Ahahaha a crisis of consonants! Genius!

  • @powerofanime1 Xenu does not approve.

  • @shoseki lol I don't care what Xenu thinks. Especially since he's now someone completely different (though who he might be is still up in the air).

  • Best thing about Rich Hall is he looks like a serial killer :D

  • rich hall is a fucking legend

  • just me or is this really good quality?

  • the man is a fucking genious....crisis or consonants.......just epic

  • I think it`s Scientologists who hit the dislike button on purpose.

    See Toms a Scientologist.

    A pretty good Scientologist too.

Till he see`s a Southpark cartoon and has a crisis of confidence.

Then the Church line him up with a zombie eyed nut job chick who convinces him hes not only going to be a better Scientologist, hes going to be better then L Ron.

He was a pretty good vampire, too. Until he had a crisis of confidence, and didn't want to be a vampire anymore.

    But then he met...

    Brad Pitt

    What's wrong with this picture?

  • @pattystomper its more realistic

  • @pattystomper What's wrong with that picture?

Cruise's character never actually has a crisis of onfidence in that film, it's Brad Pitt's character that does =P x

    Absolute pefect wordplay from Rich.

  • he looks like Moe from the Simpsons xD

  • @abbsdnfitlkohjfg He does the voice for Moe I think.

  • @Kieran5492 na

  • I'm Welsh >.<

  • sweet shirt!

  • OK, so here we've got Tom Cruise as a spy. Pretty good spy, too. Until he has a crisis of confidence and can't really spy that good anymore. Then he meets a good-looking woman who talks him into being a better spy. Classic.*

    (N.B. *Sarcasm)

  • When i was a kid i LOVED Rich Hall from Not Necessarily The News. He was in Cincinnati playing a club when i was 8 or 9. Anyway me and my grandma were shopping in a local store (i live 45 min from cincy BTW) early one Sunday morning at an obscure k-mart type of place, could have only been 10 other shopper's in the store, when in walks, to my amazement Rich Hall. NO ONE ELSE recognized him but me! So i waited for him to get close and i looked up...and froze! He smiled knowingly and walked by.

  • First time I saw that absolutely brilliant

  • Im a big tom cruise fan but i still find this very funny and i admit its true. But The Last Samurai, Minority Report, Collateral, Tropic Thunder and a few others are

    classics!

  • @andracoz ne did meet a good looking woman in that ,she was on the catering truck though

  • Hilarious. Such a good delivery.

  • moe was based on him

  • @rs64x4 Wikipedia says Louis "Red" Deutsch... Then again, that is Wikipedia... This is really off topic... Sorry...

  • @Labruskie Louis Deutsch was the first inspiration for Moe, but then inspiration was drawn from Rich Hall pretty much immediately after.

  • @OneThousandTimesOver (and rs64x4 (this new Youtube comment engine is really awful...)) Thanks... I had no idea.

  • He has always been funny.

  • Amazing

  • genius

  • Possibly the most perfectly crafted joke ive ever heard. Pure genius. And funy as fuck.

  • One film that Rich missed off the list was Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, which is all about a guy married to a character played by his then-actual wife. Pretty good guy married to a character played by his then-actual wife...

  • How about Vanilla Sky? He's a millionaire, pretty good millionaire has a car crash, loses his confidence, he's already met a woman....

  • I never saw that one...but does she teach him how to be a better husband?

  • the movies r cocktail , days of thunder , top gun , jerry maguire , rain man , war of the worlds , ver funny

  • Don't forget the Scrabble movie, Vowels of Hell.

  • what !

  • One the best comedy sketches evarrr!

  • "I don't know if you're starting to see a pattern emerge here..."

Brilliant guy! I saw him live in Dublin he's amazing. But this particular routine is SO good, I was almost disappointed he didn't do it. But I guess this was a few years ago now. Thank you for this gem tobygilchrist. :)
