It is a true pity that modern people seem unable to watch a film which try to depict the human condition which - oh my! - is not boom-bang-bust each 30 seconds without getting utterly bored. Life is not a straight-laced Hollywood story, indeed, but how can one truly appreciate the ups of one's life if it weren't for long downs of boredom?

@AlphaGulch I'm not trying to take anything away from this film or the people that like it, but disinterest in this subject matter can be blamed on things other than "modern people" who get bored of anything that's not "boom-bang-bust." Miranda July's film seem to claim to be about the human condition - but the human condition isn't the same for everyone. If you can't relate or identify with the people that are in her movies, it gets difficult to relate with them at all.

@AlphaGulch To preface, I'm interested in this film. I haven't seen it, but I would check it out. To address your comment, it's hard to envision someone looking at this and finding it exotic. And more to the point, if we are bringing different perspectives into it, one has to ask his or her self whether this is an interesting perspective in relation to their own struggles. For many, it may not be, and I think that has little to do with "modern audiences."

The point of the movie is that we, and everyone we know, have our own personal eccentricities that make us who we are and get us through the day. In the end, we are all the same - searching for the same acceptence and love. That being said, the movie is 100% less cliche than what I just said.

@LittleMissWhaleFail If that is the ONLY reason you want to see the movie, you are going to be disappointed. It's a VERY small(but significant) part of the movie. Its a "quirky" movie for sure. There are several scenes that I think tried to be "too deep" and came off as being rather lame. But there are some pretty funny scenes as well. Thats the main reason I like it. I havent watched it in a long time; I should find it in my collection and watch it again...
