Kenneth Tobey - in charge of the North Pole facility was also ranking officer in the classic 1951 version of "The Thing From Another World" - also taking place at the north pole!
I really like the general presentation of the series. I even like the colorization, but when I hear the music I can't help looking for Esther Williams and a huge aquascape of synchronized swimmers...Really weird music (or should I say non-weird) for a science fiction themed series. Thank you for the trouble of the upload. These are fun.
"Color? Colorized? Crappy encoding?"-- relax. This is from the only source of the show that exists right now, a VHS dupe of a VHS master, made on the cheap from an equally-dupey , 40 year old 16mm syndication print. Originally it looked a lot better.
@TedNewsom It was actually filmed in color the first season, not colorized. When the producers realized that color televisions were selling so slowly they decided to save money and switch to black and white for the second season.
In the movie "Back to the Future" the character George McFly made a reference to this program. It was the scene where Marty (Michael J. Fox) was trying to convince him to ask Lorraine to the dance and George said that he didn't want to miss Science Fiction Theater.
"She's part of the Doctors' equiptment! WOW what a line and since these airmen are suppose to have ESP how come they have to be told via radio about the Dr and his "Equiptment" he is bringing along! LOL!
What is great about this series is that it starts off every ep by educating the public first on, at that time, frontline scientific knowledge and techniques and THEN extrapolates on that newly aquired knowledge. Excellent!
Fabulous! I grew up as a kid in Chicago watching these episodes when they first came on tv. They started my life long interest in science and in science fiction. I was only about seven years old when they started, but I was glued to the tv set for them every week. I noticed they are now available online on DVD....is that where you got them? Thanx again for the great uploads and for your efforts to post them for us all to see!
Doesn't anyone notice the irony here?

McR: I realize that. The "colorized" reference related to what a previous poster -- Kaloffules-- had written.

A great, intelligent show with a good plot. Not like the garbage they make today
