when i was at uni the apartment i lived in had a problem where the fire alarm would just occasionally go off for no reason in the middle of the night, in my second year i decided to rent a house with friends and one night the burglar alarm (which we never turned on) went off but sadly the landlord forgot to give us the deactivation code and he was on holiday

Two random suggestions of which I don't know if either will work:

1. PLANTS! You could put plants outside on that roofy thing! It would be wonderfully picturesque.

2. I had a friend once who thought her water pressure was crap, so she somehow unscrewed part of her shower head, removed some bits inside, screwed it back on, and then *voila* lots of water pressure! She is beyond a doubt magical. idk if this would help in your case ^^.

@marionhoney Looks like your in 'halls', hope your going to stay here a while and get a shared house next year, and truely experience student life with lots of really cheap lager, emergency bins of cous cous and pot noodles with the occassional super noodle for good measure. Some memories you'll keep for years, others you'll spend yours trying to regain. Just enjoy them all the same. Oh and avoid the social studies and performing arts lot, so many hours of my life I'll never get back.

It's interesting how similar my first-year accommodation was to yours. To wit: exactly the same bedroom layout, check. Deeply ugly view from the window (mine was of a massive construction site), check. Sudden, heart-stopping and LOUD kitchen noises (mine was an overenthusiastic fire alarm), check. Uncooperative shower, many checks. Thank God I've moved to a proper (creaky, uncomfortable) student house.

Your room is like a mirrored version of my room from first year, except yours is somewhat tidier and not filled with a myriad of instruments.

Also, the office for your accommodation should have repair forms or something so you can request a new shower head. The service should be free. They might even do it if you just straight up complain about the water pressure :) I'm only speaking from personal experience, but it should apply across most universities.
