  • That diesel better get better mileage at over a 1.30 more per gallon than petrol.

  • dont* Damn cellphone autocorrect!

  • I doing know. Prius is bigger and older and still managed to do as good. Use a brand new Prius C and it would be a whole different story.

  • In France, more than 70% of new cars sold in 2011 were diesels, and that is because they're much more fuel efficient (and also that diesel is cheaper). I own a 12 years old turbodiesel Peugeot 306 and it does easily 39 mpg. Although it's not very powerful, it's lightweight, very handly and it's got plenty of torque. The most fuel efficient new diesels in europe can reach more than 60 mpg nowadays.

  • "playing hard rock gets better fuel efficiency in cars" awesome.

  • The Ford Fiesta gets UP TO 41 on the highway, but averages lower.

  • I have a 2004 Civic Hybrid (5 speed) that could be right up there with or beat the TDI. I average about 48-51mpg on the highway and about 40 in town.

  • I just bought a 2012 Golf TDI 6M 3 door shadow blue. The engine was wound tightly new so the first 2K I only averaged 35MPG mixed drving but now I get 40MPG mixed and I don't have a light foot.

    The choice was easy:

Fit and finish- TDI by a mile

True Gas milage- TDI or Prius

Fun to drive- TDI by a mile

    Comfort- TDI

Reliablity- Prius (Golf is good so far with10K, but I purchased the full extented 5yr or 75K warrenty for a reason: its a VW).

  • Due to having a turbo, the TDI Diesel can be tuned for more power and typically without any loss of fuel economy.

  • so love my TDI, on my 3rd v-dub and they get better every time

  • The results are not accurate because the refill "click off" has too many variables. You should have allowed to refill until fuel is nearly overflowing. That's the only way

  • prius sucks

  • prius is larger

  • The TDI will pull further ahead in strict highway driving. I routinely get 50-58MPG on my long trips to the mountains.

  • Diesel is for idiots.

  • @EVdriver8 And why do you say that?

  • @EVdriver8 hybrid is for idiots

  • @KevISKo0l amen

  • All that extra technology just to be introduced to a gas engine..... Maybe if they'd put a diesel in the Prius it'd have beat the TDI.

  • yeah, electric cars came before internal combustion......

  • very top gear esque. Nice review guys.

  • My 2010 TDI is now getting almost 55 MPG if I drive it conservatively, and I still smoked a 4.7 Liter Mustang in a 1 mile drag race. If I drive it hard, it still gets 40MPG. I've had it for 1 year, and it has 40,000 miles. Best car I've ever owned. Why anyone would want to own an ugly ass, slow as hell Prius is beyond me. at 150 Miles Per Hour, it just purrs along smoothly. Hits 100 Miles per hour in 4th Gear, and you still got two more to go with it's STOCK 6 Spd manual.

  • @tafkan77 Man, I so want a damn TDI... but they are so hard to find in the South

  • @TheDolphinsfan1966 really? I live in texas and i see them drive by all the time??

  • is that golf 1.6 or 2.0 tdi ??

  • @msdevnz 2.0

  • 1:20 Actually diesel is the newest technology of all of them.

  • @1HGClark wrong. small diesel cars have been around since wayy back in Europe.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:00 BREANG IT AUNN :D

  • I like how they didn't mention how much new batteries for the prius were going to cost to swap because they wear out... and what kind of waste do toast batteries produce?

  • @Gingerw00ki3 toyota said that the batteries installed in the prius lasts as long as the car does... so there is pretty much no reason why you have to change out the battery

  • the future is diesel bitches !

  • It's funny how so many people have commented on how diesels suck. Let me just tell you I've driven both diesels and petrol run engines and there is nothing like driving a diesel. In fact just last week I went to Ohio (I live in Chicago) to pick up a slightly used 2011 Jetta TDI and averaged at 51.4mpg going at an average of 70 mph - mind you it was a 467 mile drive. Oh and did I mention it was FUN to drive. Not to mention im now averaging at 38 mpg city.

  • IT WON CUZ ITS A MANUAL. GO MANUAL.

  • I dont know what they do to cars in these tests. I know a couple people that get 44mph with their prius doing mostly highway driving, i'm sure it would be higher in the city. And I have a 2000 TDI beetle with 287,000 miles and I still get between 48 and 54 mpg depending on the type of driving. Diesel hybrids are the way to go

  • @SolarAbyss Unfortunately diesels will fade in the next two years. My dad works for Ford as a engineer and Ford ecoboost will replace 75% of diesel powered cars for Ford in the next two years. TSI for VW and now renault introduced it (TCE). Small turbo petrols are the future. A 1.4 TSI golf is faster than the 2.0 diesel (with similar torque), has more mpg and cheaper to service and insure. And not to mention cheaper fuel. No stupid DPF filters. And is 2014 diesels will get raped by tax

  • @prussell890 European diesels get 71mpg, VWs L1, slated for production in 2013 gets 176mpg. Diesel contains more energy and the ignition process is more efficient, there is no way for a gasoline vehicle to beat it. Biodiesel reduces CO2, CO, PM, and eliminates SO2 and as soon as Joule Unlimited starts commercial production next year, and as algae biodiesel ramps up, it will be available for ~$20/"barrel". Audi has won nearly every race it's entered with its diesel cars.

  • @SolarAbyss my friend I think its about tiome to move on from your biased behaviour towards diesels. On a race track a turbo diesel would not stand a chance against a turbo petrol. A 1.4 WV polo (GTI) achieves 170 bhp standard. You can just achieve that with a 2.0 diesel. I would rather lose 10 mph with a petrol than put up with a diesel. Oh and in the UK diesel is 10 pence more per litre (£5 more to fill a small car) when you save £8 per tank with a diesel. WOW you save £3. big woopy!!!

  • @prussell890 oh may I also add stop talking about the Le mans race. Its one race a year that they use diesels. Try racing that Audi against a Bugatti Veyron. Yes if I was driving 30,000 miles a year I would consider a diesel but even grannys are buying diesels and doing 3,000 miles a year. Its pathetic. Its all down to your milage. and don't mention torque becuase these modern turbo petrols have similar torque with twice the horse power. Not to mention bigger powerband, less weight etc..

  • quality+engineering+HB drive+++++ = GOLF... ford fiesta is good but, they should havee gone with ford focus... bec ford fiesta is very small car, just like WV Polo or Toyota Yaris... anyways, Golf is very good one, i dont have one but i used one for 2 months,, "Rental"

  • the 2010+ prius is much better than the old one but I would like the Golf

  • lol roman being cocky made him lose by .1 gallons

  • i think i would rather Drive the Golf or Fiesta....

  • umm the golf waz stick that makes a car more fuel effcient and the prius is old and its got 75000 miles on it soo for me the prius won by a mile

  • Prius is the most fuel efficient and this test proved that.

  • @NewDivineWind well this prius caused more damage than both other competitors together even before driving. It is one of the most boring cars money can buy, it is not a quality product, you have to change batteries after few years, it is very slow and ugly, it is not that efficient how everybody claim and most of the battery components can't be recycled. I drive a Vw Touran TDI 140 hp and believe me or not my I do a lot better than this prius. avg: 42.8 mpg and my best milage was: 50 mpg.

  • @NewDivineWind And this Touran is faster, more practical and fun. It is way better build than this prius and it wasn't built for efficiency in the first place like prius. It is just an average car like this Fiesta. There are cars in Europe which can do 70 mpg. So prius is just a marketing gag and nothing more. If you want a proper tree hugger: import one from Europe. E.g. Passat 1.6 TDI Bluemotion or BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics Edition.

  • @purrability You are comparing a Touran to a Prius? You must be stupid because they are 100% different cars. As the Prius is built for efficiency, so it will be not very fun to drive. The people buying a Prius are looking for a sports car. In the video, it shows a second generation Prius. The third gen is much nicer styling wise and more fuel efficient. If VW can import those Bluemotions over that might be interesting but they don't.

  • @NewDivineWind Yes I am comparing these two cars because they are about the same age. Yes it wasn't designed for efficiency but somehow it is more efficient. It is not a sportcar (it is a bit boring) but if you compare it to this prius it is from the different league!

BMW 320d is more efficient than the new prius and it is still great car to drive! Don't believe anything they say. Prius is pretty average car in terms of efficiency. It might be efficient for USA but not for rest of the World.

  • @purrability Because I know one car which does over 80 mpg and it is still quite fun to drive. Google Vw Lupo 3L. It defines efficiency! ;)

Overall hybrid is only efficient if you drive for 90% of the time in a city, until you put your foot down... Then it becomes below average. If you want efficient car buy a diesel.

  • @purrability Don't give me that mpg crap. Testing of MPG all over the world is very very different. The Prius in the US gets around 55 MPG EPA testing while the testing in Japan is 90 MPG. Unless the EPA does a test on one of these Vws, then whatever figure someone throws out could be very skewed to the EPA's standard. Stop trying to promote all these German cars, especially Vw which has a reputation of not being reliable car manufacturer.

  • @NewDivineWind I am not promoting promoting german cars. It is because german know how to build efficient cars. If you don't believe me it is your problem. This bmw is not 50,000 dollar car, it costs about 26,000 $ even here in Germany where cars are a lot more expensive than in US. Horrible? Is it? In my opinion it looks a lot better than Prius. Prius is not ahead of competition. Not even slightly.

  • @purrability Really? Comparing a Prius to a plus 50.000 dollar car diesel? Not only is that twice the price of a Prius, it is a diesel which of course is going to get high fuel economy than the electric/petrol Prius. The front of the that BMW is nice but all other angles are horrible. The Prius is a very efficient car and I have been to Poland, Japan, Ireland, Australia, and others and the Prius is ahead of the competition.

  • @NewDivineWind I mean would you rather have a car which could do everything or just one thine in which it isn't that good?

  • @purrability The Prius is a good car and fuel efficiency is not the ONE and only thing that is good about it. The Vw is far from perfect and your "could do everything perfect" is a straight up stupid comment. The Vw has many flaws but so does every other car on the market.

  • @NewDivineWind Yeah reading isn't your thing, is it? I am talking about other car makers: Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Vw and so on. Call me something what it could do better than the others.

  • @purrability I just thought that you weren't comparing a Prius to a luxury car that costs twice as much. That is really fair. I assumed you were talking about the Vw and not the BMW. Germany doesn't play that large of role in the US car market, and I don't need to wonder why.

  • @NewDivineWind We are talking about efficiency globally because you suppose that the Prius is the most efficient car. Quote: "Prius is the most fuel efficient..." So just agree with me that it isn't. And why I promote german cars? Because german brands are obsessed about efficiency due to gas prices.

  • @purrability The Prius is the most efficient in this bunch. Don't give me some 60K luxury car that gets good ratings outside the US. If they had used a new 3rd Gen. Prius it would have won the test. Is your view that small that you have to think that German cars are the most fuel efficient? To think that German brands are obsessed about efficiency due to gas prices and other car manufacturers aren't??? Get your head out of a bag and look at other countries automotive offerings.

  • @NewDivineWind No your filed of view is way too small to realize that there are other cars which are a lot better than prius which cost less and are more efficient. I look at the cars from other countries. Honda Insight: isn't that efficient, Prius: not that efficient, Italy: Fiat 500 twinair: not that efficient, France: Renault Clio ECO² a good one, US: none, Spain: Seat Ibiza Ecomotive same as Polo Bluemotion a good one, Germany: BMW 320d efd, VW Passat/Golf 1.6 TDI, POLO 1.2 TDI...

  • @NewDivineWind Czech Republic: Skoda Fabia Greenline same as Polo, developed in Germany: Ford Focus/Mondeo/C-Max/Fiesta 1.6 TDCI Econetic they are all good. So how many of them are german or were developed in Germany?

  • My dads 2004 Honda civic hybrid consistently gets 38.9 mpg

  • VW golf with direct injection technology is my preference. Audi A3 do have the same engine available too. Both are safe and has great handling without forgetting speed.

  • not to mention the fact that unlike the fiesta & prius, the Golf actually has torque to pacify the inner race car driver within us all.

  • at 0:50 she can't stop fiddling with the gear stick... :)

  • Comment removed

  • golf is a better car ... perus is for old people and fiesta is for ladies who cant park the car .. golf is for young generation (male)

  • American's are obviously not bothered about being green with cars, if they where they would have manual cars which take less petrol

  • @mjhart123 actually ford's 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission is more fuel efficient than a traditional manual.

  • The ford is better looking and actually better to drive

  • The TDI has 236 foot pounds of torque at an extremely usable RPM range... It is the clear winner IMO.

  • VW staying true to the European style with that Standard Tranny.

  • Ford is the most economical in the end.

  • @MrMrPokey no it's not

    Golf was $2.69

    Prius was $2.72

    Ford was $3.04

the ford was the worst performer

although you should keep in mind that the Prius is a family car and is much larger

  • @MrMrPokey ford makes a diesel version in europe that gets 65 mpg but they can't bring it state side :(

  • 5:27 GEO METRO !!!!! way better than that gay prius.

  • Top Gear America

  • The new 2010 Prius is a big improvement over the old Prius.

  • I second Diesel Electric. a two cylinder diesel will be plenty to generate enough energy to propel a car at hw speeds...

  • WHOA HOLY FUCK diesel is 2.99 a galon where u are.. its 4.20 here!!

  • @xmodrock this video is over a year old.

  • @sakau2007 ... ok.. send me back 1 year

  • I'd chose the golf because it looks like it would be the most fun to drive. It also looks he nicest because we can all safely admit that the Prius isn't the best looking of cars

  • how they gana actually get everybody in the world to go out and buy an electric car. i mean if i dont get one, am i gana be put in jail or somethin, for not driven a lame ass prius

  • Take that Prius!!!

  • @cnunn85 take the prius???

    GET OFF YOUTUBE!

  • the tdi has a turbo. end of story.

  • though the fiesta lost it was the cheapest car of all by 5,000 dollars in addition gas has gone up a lot at least where i am. Cheapest gas in Texas = 3.50 & Diesel = 4.00. i'd rather pay for the tiny extra amount of gas to get it up that .1 instead of the extra 50 cents per fill up. The choice is ultimately yours but in my opinion the ford fiesta got to be the most sold car in Europe for a reason.

  • I'm ready to buy a 2011 TDI. Just making sure. I've done all the number crunching, and I've decided that when I factor in the "fun" part of driving the TDI (way more sporty than any other economy car) and the fuel savings over an eight year span of ownership, this is the best bang for the buck. A poor mans' Porsche, if you will.

  • @AngryBuddhaVideos I'd go 2010 if it was me. It's more of a "real" German car compared to the Americanized 2011 models. At least with the Jetta. You're safe with the Golf last I checked.

  • Fiesta=joke.

  • It really is a shame the us doesnt embrace clean diesel cars, I can't stand hybrids or the smug ass people who drive them

  • i got a 2000 gmc yukon xl 2500. 8 mpg people. way of the future

  • wow..the tdi won over a prius? Really didnt see that coming. Its funny cause this test was only measuring one thing: fuel efficiency. Not driving factor, refinement, luxury etc. Just proves that the veedub TDI is not only fun to drive..but a better solution for sustainability. No wonder 70% of new cars in europe are diesel! America needs to adopt this attitude asap. Hybrids are booooooring. Also, can your car run on vegetable oil? Thought so.

  • I want to see those 3 cars trying to go up hill test, testing on flat street is not good enough, but try going up hill to get gas mileage, Tdi 1st, Fiesta 2nd, and Pruis back to the last place baby. Tdi has High torque easy up hill no struggles.

  • Pruis will sucks going up hills, which doesn't have torqure and uses more gas, SO HA Pruis sucks, Fiesta and Golf Tdi is a great car, instead of Pruis that cost 3k for replacement for batteries.

  • im looking for something fun, powerful, good looking, manual, well built, and good fuel mileage.... so its looking like the tdi is the way to go for me. great review btw. one of the best ive seen on the golf yet

  • I like that the TDI won it has much more torque than the other two but I don't like the way they filled the car's you should fill the car until you see fluid on the top of the inlet and do the same after the test drive I know that diesel foams more than gasoline it it doesn't make if precise calculation of the fuel used.

  • Prius the least expensive at $28,000? Fiesta>TDI>Prius. I like the TDI, but diesel is too expensive, and the Prius has a battery that has to be replaced eventually. So, yeah Fiesta on this one.

  • @critter505 This test should be done with cars of the same segment. Fiesta vs Polo vs ¿Prius? (any small hybrid) or Focus vs Golf vs Prius

  • @bichoorojo Agreed

  • @critter505 i bought a 2011 JETTA TDI sticker price was 25,340. no navigation...everything else included. i average 42mpg when i drive it regular. i have averaged better before. its full size sedan, with a regular trunk. and oh it wont have hazmat batteries to bury one day.

  • @19nachito87 I agree with you about the battery problem, and I like the TDI, but I can get a loaded Fiesta for about 17,500, and get pretty similar, not quite as good, but similar gas mileage. Plus, diesel is at least around 30 cents per gallon more.

  • @critter505 I agree its bottom dollar and you get alot for the price. i drove the ford focus with the same features as the jetta. it felt SMALL under powered, cramped and way to many buttons. diesel might be more expensive, but i drove 500 miles on 11 gallons doing 75-80mph and still had 1/4 tank.

  • @19nachito87 I wouldn't think a focus is a fair comparison, it doesn't get the same kind of mileage as these cars. But, when you consider most people can easily get 40+miles per gallon with the Fiesta on the highway, and their gas is 30 cents less per gallon, you have to come to the mathematical conclusion that the Fiesta is less expensive, when you also factor in the initial cost of the vehicle.

  • @critter505 what im getting at is that its a tiny car...the average america family would not be happy in a fiesta. the jetta is cavernous to me.i was just stating that the prius is dirtier than ppl think. even if the fiesta can score 40mpg. bio diesel can be made from french frie oil and other waste that can be re-used.

  • @19nachito87 What a lot of people don't realize is the fuel system in the diesel car is not meant to run on bio-diesel as it's made today. Within a couple years, most bio-diesel vehicles break down. The next step in totally ridding ourselves of oil comes from hydrogen fuel cell cars. But, that's a few years away. For the mean time, we make do, but the hybrid technology is I agree, horrible for the environment. However, funny enough as it is, the Ford Focus has a bigger interior square footage.

  • @19nachito87 ...I don't know what the square footage is on the Fiesta, but I couldn't imagine it being mush smaller. However, in this category of car, I don't think size is the most important factor.

  • @critter505 diesel is .22 cents more expensive where i live. from empty to full would cost me 2.86 extra to fill up. and ive gone 613 miles on one tank of 13.4 gallon i would like for you to try that on your fiesta.

  • @19nachito87 22 cents, wow you guys are getting a good deal, but where I live regular gas is $3.01 per gallon, diesel is $3.45 now. So, yeah coupled with the initial cost of the Fiesta, over a lifetime you will save thousands by owning one.

  • @critter505 i would pay for whole two gallons, and not compromise power, efficiency, room and quality. plus the TDI is tons more fun to drive.

  • @19nachito87 The interior room has a negligible difference, the power on both are weak, but that's not why people buy these cars, and a lot of people I talk to say they love the way the fiesta drives/handles. I like the TDI, but to be honest it's a lot more efficient to me to own the fiesta. Plus, I like that my money is going to an American car company.

  • @critter505 why would i wanna buy american? when for so many years they refused to compete believing that people would buy their cars just because. and when they didnt they took our tax moneys anyways. yea ive owned a chevy and a ford bfore. never again. vw is working on tdi hybrid with the golf. thats gonna be my next car.

  • @19nachito87 For one, Ford didn't take a dime from the tax payer, so wrong again. For two, Ford has the only domestic cars that rank in the top 5 for consumer reports reliability, VW has none. As a matter of fact they are on the low end of that list for reliability. For the last 15 years Ford has been constantly improving their quality of cars far beyond what most cars companies have produced. Not to mention it helps the American economy.....that's kinda important right now...

  • @critter505 You got that right man. VW's are nice, but I still only buy American. I'm a Chevy man, but Ford's my second best. Next year the, the DIESEL powered Chevy Cruze will be available in the US!! It's already a hit in Europe. And if GM can do it, I know Ford can do it too!!

  • @19nachito87 BTW, I just looked up the actual mpg, and msrp of the tdi: 30 cty/42 hwy mpg, $22,500 to start. Fully loaded it's $28,000.

  • the prius sucks u know all the polution make only for build 1 of those bateries car and them the reciclyes didnt r 100% thats kind of car r the worse.....think beyond u miles hahahahahahaha

  • 3 different cars, 3 different drivers

and the prius is of the older generation. guess they don't have the balls to compete with the new generation prius

  • hybrids were invented in the late 1800s, in there early 1900s there were all electric cars with 100 mile range

  • wow that's a new way of measuring fuel consumption .....NOT!

  • So a 4 years old Prius with 70,000 on the odometer ends up having worse real world fuel mileage than a brand new TDI. What would the TDI's fuel mileage be when the engine gets broken in say after 25,000, 50,000, 100,000 miles? Does this mean the battery in the Prius is getting tired after 4 years? If not, why won't this Prius gets the same kind of 40-50mpg mileage like it used to achieve when the car was new.

  • bullshits!!

  • @wiccanmoonman Please note that we have ZERO interest in your opinion if you can't express it without being a total comment troll. All mean spirited comments will be deleted and you will be blocked...so don't even bother.

  • Tdi may have won but cost twice as much and has less extras than the Fiesta and try to find diesel anywhere other than a truck stop. plus diesel cost more than gas.

  • @wiccanmoonman I bought a TDI for 6,000 flat after tax. It gets over 45mpg all the time and according to my calculations will pay for itself in less than a year. Again, stop making excuses that dont hold water.

  • Tdi may have won but cost twice as much and has less extras than the Fiesta and try to find diesel anywhere other than a truck stop.

  • @wiccanmoonman Wow are you retarded? I can't think of a single gas station I have been to that didnt have at least one pump with green nozzles (or yellow). I'm pretty sure I would know because I only drive diesels, and Ive been to communist California and back a couple of times so dont tell me it's a regional thing. Stop wasting time making excuses, especially bad ones.

  • TDI>Ford>Prius

  • golf looks the best

  • @larabug99 prius look the ugliest

  • diesel tdi with a stick shift all the way!

  • I just purchased my GOLF, Feb. 2011. very fair review, I purchased my GOLF to use less fuel. I wish they would make a politician in the Diesel version!

  • Is this really a question.

    TDI all the way.

  • not only more fuel efficient, it's also so much more polished.

    . . . girlfriend has a prius, can't stand to ride in the thing. It's a plastic box from hell : [

  • Gradge band music! LOL

  • Also, the diesel engine in the golf is going to last a lot longer than the gasoline engines in both the fiesta and prius, plus the battery in the prius is going to go bad in 10 years, which will mean that it's mpgs will go to hell. And in an experiment conducted by the UK TV show Top Gear, production of the toyota prius is more environmentally harmful that a range rover. Lastly, I'm sure the prius is an absolute bore to drive, which is another reason to go to the golf.

  • Also, the diesel engine in the golf is going to last a lot longer than the gasoline engines in both the fiesta and prius, plus the battery in the prius is going to go bad in 10 years, which will mean that it's mpgs will go to hell. • HAHAHA HELLS YEAH. GOTTA LOVE THE DIESEL!!

  • Since Diesel is more energy and oil dense, the Prius still wins. The TDI got 37.5 MPG gasoline/oil equivalent. (42.6*88%)

I would also call into question how accurate the gas pump is at determining what is considered a full tank. Better off going with the Car's fuel consumption data.

Diesel is not widespread in the US because the fuel is more expensive and the cars are more complicated (turbo) to make efficient and meet the emission standards. VW's "clean diesel" is a bit of a misnomer.

  • @Killroy1999 Diesels do not need a turbo to make them efficient and meet emission standards. Diesel engines are equipped with turbo charges to produce more high end horsepower. This is because diesel engines produce lots of low end torque, but little horsepower due to low revving rpms. Why you need to bring in the energy density of the fuel is beyond me, because that is not part of the experiment played out here. They were simply testing the fuel consumption, and the prius lost.

  • Prius is the ugliest one, that's for sure

  • why is diesel more expensive than gas ???

i think it doesnt make any sense

because trucks drive with diesel and they do use them for job purposes no private use there with their machines

    so diesel should be cheaper

    greetings from germany !!!!!

  • @salmansengul Diesel has more oil in it than gas. Unlike other countries the US tax gas and diesel the same. Diesel demand can go up because it competes with heading oil which is still used.

  • i didnt watch it to the end yet, and i dont know wich car won. but i have to say that new cars use more fuel than a bit older ones that have some miles on them. my neighbours golf V tdi, with more km on it , it drove better and better and used lesser fuel. i don't take the golf's side, i hate the way the V drives. cheers

  • i bet you the golf won't run on used french fries oil :)) i dare you to do that on your own car !!

  • Fiesta driver - you were not hypermileing. When you pulled away from the stop sign, you should not have rev'd above 2k rpm; you could have gotten 46mpg. Using the radio drains the battery, which causes the alternator to kick in more often, causing decreased fuel mileage. Prius driver - I dont know how you got that low of fuel mileage. My mother has a prius and gets 60 mpg regularly. Golf driver - you rock. Ya'll should redo this test though! Youll see dramaticly different results. : )

  • 3:00 the guy still has the label on his sun glasses.. ??

  • this looks like near where i live in california

  • lol they soulda filled it to the gas cap. the presure that stop the flow dosnt stop it at the same leven all the time so u can +/- .5 gal for each car lol.

  • diesel power

  • by the way I like the black sabath shirt two thumbs up :)

  • I don't know why we just don't kill the hippie enviromentals and drill here we have plenty of oil and global warming is NOT REAL al gore is a terd period and the prius sucks diesel is the future my jetta tdi gets 780 miles to the tank for 45 dollars and I don't have to charge it or take lithium out of the earth to put in my car morons.

  • The best part about it is that with diesel, you can run biodiesel and use 0 petroleum at all whereas in a Prius or other hybrid, at the end of the day, you are still using petroleum gasoline.

  • y am i gona have to get a good gas mileage car

  • I dont know why the powers that be, just dont make a diesel electric car. it works in trains and on railroad equipment, a 3 cly diesel pushing a 12kw generator would work for all 4 wheels and no expensive batteries to replace. am I the only one that gets this?

  • @biomansoil The Volt was supposed to use a diesel but GM didn't think it would sell in America. Great idea that needs to get built.

  • @romanmicagearguy tru tru not i bet they having second thoughts lol

  • The VoLT should incorporate Bio-Fuel.

  • Why not Clean Diesel? A Handful of automobile companies have incorporated Clean Diesel to their line-up. Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW are a few examples.

  • @romanmicagearguy

I think the generator set in the Volt could be changed later.. and certainly GM could choose to put whatever they wanted in it for new models as they come out.. gas, diesel, fuel cell etc.

  • @romanmicagearguy how could they think it wouldnt sell

  • @biomansoil best idea ever but the gov want to take down to get the americans addicted to gas and they rich

  • @biomansoil

problem with diesels and hybrids are that they both more expensive than petrol and combined together its too expensive

  • @biomansoil actually trains aren't diesel powered they are electric the power generators on the trains are diesel powered.

  • @biomansoil SHHHHHH, patent a design, then after VW starts making diesel a little more trendy, sell it to a competitor!

  • @biomansoil They made diesel electric trains to have few gears and full torque at any rpm this is how they saved fuel, cos trains are underpowered. But a car, wtf?You must build it underpowered and it will drive like a train, you dont want that. You want a normal diesel, a CVT, and regenerative breaks and you beat the shit out of any diesel electric in economy.
