  • very nice! Great man!

  • How long can your DL4 loop? I thought the limit was 14 seconds, but your initial loop seems to go on for over 20...?

  • @viper5390

You can actually get it 28 seconds by looping while the 1/2 speed is engaged.

  • Beautiful work!

  • Do U use shimmer mode on Blue Sky?

  • Great sound ! hey the Vox ac30 is C2 version or CC2? Because I want buy one but I dont know wich is better...Thanks, greetings from Argentina !

  • Some parts remember the coca-cola' theme...

  • @tubescreamer how do you get the sound that you have at the begging of the video?

  • Just bought your album on the basis of this tune, keep up the good work!

  • Great shin work

  • If you tried to put words to this, Chuck Norris would kill you.

  • This is fucking beautiful. I really want to get one of those Blue Sky reverb pedals.

  • Whenever I need to cry I come back to this video

    Thank you

  • another fellow christian who shares a love for epic ambient guitar music.

  • @Teutonic1250 Yeah, gotta represent the indoctrinated musicians!

  • Fan-fucking-tastic!! I could listen to this over and over...and I will. Excellent!

  • DL4 or Timefactor??

  • @MrBoxxed none :D haha but I'd go with the DL4 if I had to choose :)

  • You masterpeices are simply put, a emotional mind bliss. Simply amazing stuff here I can stay up all night and listen to this. Life seems so much better all the sudden.

  • awesome song.

    i'm your 3,767th subcriber

  • I love love love ambient music thank you

  • Oh my goodness, i decided to put my dads 'distant thunderstorm' cd while listening to this at the same time and fell asleep for 14 hours hahaha

  • Thanks for this! It's truly inspiring and you're making me branch out into a totally new genre of music with this. Love all your gear and all your sounds!

  • Heyy bro, I really dig your stuff. It sounds great. Could you tell me what pedal it is you tap at 3:37 to "soften" the sound (I'm guessing it's the compressor)? And could you please give me a quick summary on how you got your track to cut out one-by-one at the end? I understand how you cut out the loop on the dl4 but what about the other tracks.

  • @whitechocolate8818 at 3:37 i simply switched presets on my reverb pedal (bluesky) to a setting that has pretty much all the highs cut out.

  • @tubescreamer whats the red pedal! it sounds sooooo goood

  • Excellent stuff, love it :)

  • You must be a metronome. Timing was perfect.

  • I love you.

  • Sounds like Christmas!

  • @TrapDaddy65 I love Christmas!

  • @tubescreamer I love Christmas too!

  • @romodrummerjz thank you!

  • did anyone else cry to this? i feel like a puppy just died in my arms from cancer

  • this is what mogwai would sound like if they were choir boys.

  • I want to be able to make a lot of ambient music for my youth worship, what type of pedal would you recomend for a real ambient hillsong united type of sound?

  • inspiring...

  • Amazing tone, what guitar are you playing?

  • @hornetlord Fender USA Telecaster.

  • @tubescreamer is the American any good? im lookin to get a usa soon, i currently use a mexican

  • dude im diggin your tone, sweet vid!

  • With a rhythm on drums on the toms (if you know what I mean) and a voice like The National or Elbow, it would be more awesome !

  • Hey Andrew i really like your music and your pedalboard, i sincerely thank you for these videos, i recently became obsessed with tone, thanks to you i bought my boomerang, but now im stressing on getting the Blue sky and the El capistan, they sound great, now im really like my DL4, but now not sure if i should consider getting the Eventide, so my question is why you use the Eventide more over DL4, it may well be a dump question however dont want to buy a Eventide just to try it, keep doing this

  • i bet you could play along with switchfoot, easyly.i love them.and i love the material you write.your amazing bro

  • Great sounds / tone / manipulation of effects.... but sincerely, a little too late. Robin Guthrie beat you too the punch a long time ago (30 years) Good Luck!

  • like your stuff. You might like a band called allthebrightlights as well if you haven't already heard of them. I am not affiliated with them in any way (don't mark it as spam!).

    Very inspiring man!

  • @777jordan I love ATBL... and JMM as well. thanks!

  • @tubescreamer so is your music christian just wondering by JMM i was assuming John Mark McMillan...?

  • @lmartin9028 I am a christian who makes music.

  • @tubescreamer As you sort of are the representation of my perfect sound, could you give me an idea what delay pedal I should get to build some nice soundscapes, take into account I'm talking singular :) So I suppose I'm searching for something with long delays. And I don't want any boutique pedals. Any idea if I could get close with or a mxr carbon copy, or a ehx memory boy/man, max price should be about 200$. It would mean alot to me if I could get your input, thanks.

  • @esdenaze if you want long delays i would recommend something digital. if you liked the DL4 but want better build quality, look into the line 6 echo park or the boss dd20.

  • Pretty Etheral pieceof music Good Sir...you are not helping my Gear Acquisition Syndrome!!! :-P

  • That sounds really nice bro!really enjoy your music. Its very soothing and relaxing. This is music that can describe a dream that words cant!

  • freaking awesome!

  • What you did at the end...Brilliant! Did you do that by placing the reverb after your looper? I know it was the Blue Sky you used to sort of blend it all together like that, but what specifically were the types of reverb used?

    Thanks and God Bless

  • Really cool man. I need to get that reverb and a loop pedal cause I wanna do some shit like this...that soundscape type stuff....very cool what you've done man!

  • @steveey251 thanks man!

  • gorgeous man...very inspiring

  • Hands down my favorite channel on youtube. I love you

  • @colin8smith hey thanks!

  • @tubescreamer

Hahaha, he said I love you.

  • i wanna be your neighbor

  • Hey man. I LOVE your reverb. what are you using? also, I totally appreciate that you mic up your amp. I don't know if I've told you that before, but its so rare that you find other youtube guitarists that demo their tones and actually take the time to mic the amp.

Anyway, I play an AC30 too, and the built in spring reverb is incredible, but I know you're using something more, and whatever it is, I need to get one, because it sounds incredible. Let me know!

    -Alex

    No Ideas But In Things

  • @NoIdeasButInThings hey, i've listed all the pedals i used in the description. let me know if you have any other questions. thanks for taking the time to listen!

  • @tubescreamer

I was wondering if you knew who Seth Yates is? He is the electric guitarist for Cory Asbury. Anyways, check out his song faithful to the end by Cory Asbury and listen for the reverb in the back and let me know if he is doing volume swells or not. He uses a Boss RV-5 and a Boss CS-3 Compressor. Our reverberator is better though :) WAYYYYY better. He has a really interesting ambient sound.

  • @NoIdeasButInThings its a blueSky Reverbarator by Skymon.

  • @NoIdeasButInThings sorry - by strymon... lol.

  • How would you compare the EHX cathedral reverb to your other reverbs. I'm thinking of buying that, but you know much more than me.

  • @coooorey i haven't had any experience with the cathedral...

  • sounds a lot like Robin Guthrie in his Continental phase

  • gotta say just cant stop visiting ur page some of this stuff is total class...

  • sounds truly amazing I've just subscribed! thinking of getting the strymon el capston could u recomment strymon, is it worth the cost?

  • as attractive as your feet are..maybe show a bit of guitar playing next time? XD

  • Beutiful!

  • I really enjoyed this loop! nice pedals! grtz

  • you loop pedal is the green line 6 pedal??

  • If you don't mind me asking. What settings did you have on that carbon copy?

  • @scotts87 high repeats and low mix is pretty much it...

  • This is SO boring. I can play SO many more notes it's RIDICULOUS. Maybe once you learn to play raging fast you will be good. Until then, this is just stupid.

This sounds like some boring Brian Eno crap. Who does Eno think he is anyway? Has he never been enlightened to the sounds of Dragonforce???

Learn to play more fast notes and then you will truly be a rock god.

    Fast = Good.

  • @mainstayrock

lol@ justin. i hope you were being sarcastic, considering what band you play in.

  • @horatiocota Ha! I'm sorry...I couldn't resist. :0)

I was thoroughly enjoying this video when I saw the guys' comment above that said he kept waiting for the solo to come in...and well...I just had to.

Love your music Lowercase! Sent you an email on here. Your music is absolutely gorgeous. Keep it up man.

  • @mainstayrock thanks man, i sent you a reply!

  • @mainstayrock hahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha

  • @mainstayrock Either this is sarcasm or you've just managed to parody yourself.

  • @mainstayrock are you serious?

  • @mainstayrock my favorite comment ever!

  • @tubescreamer hahahah that guy really believes that

  • @mainstayrock i suppossed you are a rock gay?

  • @alesexy21 You are too have supposed to have correct man...I am for to be a rock gay.

  • @mainstayrock I have a soft spot for retards...lol.

  • @mainstayrock hahahahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @345307 Well that just seems a trifle unnecessary...

  • @mainstayrock omg are u retarded :O well i won't bitch on a video but a got to say that fast dont means good . and im just sorry for u that u cant appreciate emotions over fast shredding , im not saying that shredders suck ,not at all go check out Jeff Loomis Now that s a GOD ,

however music is a matter of perseption . if u dont like what u hear well, just skip it!! and dont act like you know everything

  • @kklol0 sarcasm, you do not recognize it.

  • @tubescreamer most of the time i reconize it but i tought i was serious :O there is so much ingorant ppl on youtube he could be 1 of them well im sorry for disturbing then ;) ((sry bad english))

  • @kklol0 Touché good sir. Once again I have been bested.

Alas...I guess fast dont means good. BUT - a got to say I've learned something here today.

  • @mainstayrock sorry about that man, i didnt see the sarcasm in your comment. i hope u learn about Jeff Lommis :P hehehehe

  • @mainstayrock That would mean that to you, Dragonforce makes music ^^ I love your sense of humor !!

  • this was in my head the other day so i decided to try and play it on my line 6 m9

it turned out pretty well...my mom liked it :)

  • @EcentC nice... :)

  • So incredible brother!!

  • Oh my God... l'm in heaven... Sounds of heaven, bro!

  • This makes me want my BSR back......*sigh*......*facepalm*.......*looks down and kicks a rock*.........it will go nicely with my WET.

  • The fking coolest gear video out there! Nice one mate! I added this to my favourites and subscribed.

  • @theinck thanks man!

  • I waited the whole song for the solo part... never happened. nice ambient btw.

  • @crguti sorry to disappoint. i think solos sound lame in this context.

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • @THEFUNDAMENTALVIEW Thank you!

  • What's the pedal to the right of the Time Factor delay? Is that the MXR Carbon Copy?

  • This was so good!!!

  • I'm really loving your music!

  • So that Strymon blueSky reverb is where that beautiful giant reverb comes from lowcaseNoises

  • @quinnmyster well, actually the pedal is newer than any of my albums, but it will be all over the new one i'm working on!

  • @tubescreamer Dude Andy I'm gunna crap my pants off when you get that next album out. Also, my wife just finished the artwork for my ambient album so I can release that. Should have a download up for you within a week, hopefully.

  • Hi there,

just wondering how u get those back-ground noise/Drone thingy

u had for the second riff

    Thank you

  • this song is beautiful and im lovin the tone, but what are the settings on the rv5 and the strymon?

  • Sounds awesome! I noticed on TGP that you got the new ehx Freeze. Every demonstration I've watched sounds terrible. But I still have hope, could you possibly do a video on it with your technique? Much appreciated if you did

  • how do you get your dl4 to record longer than 14 seconds?

  • @denzl11 press the half time switch before recording.

  • Is that an SM57? How does that compare to the 58?

  • @michaeltc91 sm57 is unidirectional, 58 is not. that's why the 57 is better for guitar cabs.

  • What is it that you do at 3:38? Is that from the DL-4 or the Strymon?

  • Comment removed

  • this sounds AMAZING.Do you like your vox or deville better?

  • A simple and effective tune with an ethereal ambience.

  • Really like this one - v cool

  • @mattstevensguitar Thanks Matt, that's great coming from you!

  • So many reverbs and delays. How do you decide what order to put them in?

  • Your videos are helping me a lot with figuring out how to set up my electric rig. So thanks for the time you put into this. I'll send you a track or two once I get everything square so you can see what you've helped create! Haha. Blessings, man.

  • you did all that with a loop??? sounds awesome...

  • hey i have a question about your dl4, you seem to be getting quite a long loop out of it. i thought it was only 14 seconds? is there anyway to increase this time?

  • @mirrastyle4524 if you put the 4th switch down, it doubles the time to 28 seconds. Release it, and it puts it an octave higher and twice as fast. Conversely, it does the opposite if it's not pressed down before the start of the loop.

  • Nice sustained fadeout. What camera do you use to?

  • What are your settings on the blue sky for this video? I love the simplicity of this song. Your phrasing is always superb, thanks for the great music.

  • Hey bud, what's your take on the Timefactor vs the Line6?

  • Andy,

I like the tone of your guitar! What guitar are you using and what pickups have you put in the guitar? Also are you using the neck pickup, the bridge or both at the same time. To me it sounds like the middle position on a tele or strat maybe?

Thanks for sharing your awesome adventures in guitaring and pedalboard creations. Oh and the lovely music doesn't hurt either.

  • thanks a lot andy, now I've gotta spend $300 on a reverb pedal... but seriously, it sounds so good! And props on getting a shout out in the strymon newsletter, that was awesome!

  • @natesyourmom haha thanks man!

  • I've seen a lot of people using a dl4 & read equal amount of people complaining about its reliability. What have been your experience with it. I'm thinking of buying it so wondering if its worth the risk.

  • @slashybluesy I have had no issues with mine, and I've had it for 3 or 4 years.

  • Very happy to see you have a cd... bought it yesterday!! <:

  • Wow man... beautiful. I've been watching all your stuff, i love your style. Very inspiring, really refreshing to hear somebody who appreciates the pure power of sound. Thanks for this one bro!

  • How do you have the Strymon set?

  • Thanks for posting! Great video and I like your music too!

Is the Strymon last in the chain?.. running one output to Vox and the other to Fender?

Awesome. Can't wait to get mine set up!!

  • @yeebie4 yep, exactly!

  • Sounds awesome! Even these timing mistakes sound ok.

Could you make a video "How to get an ambient guitar sound"? Maybe a short tutorial, where you switch on your pedals one by one, so we can hear what do they do to your sound. I still can't realise why do you need two... or even three different delays!

    Thanks

  • @kantefier The reason for multiple delays is for whats called "cascading delay". Where one delay, set to lets say dotted eighths is delaying into another at lets say quarter notes, then those two cascading into one more maybe at half notes (these probably won't be your settings, its just an example). What this does is provide this very nice, long delay without an audible downbeat. So here, listen to the 2:00 mark, when you hear the guitar delaying out into space, without an audible beat.

  • @kantefier Then, the reverb just adds a really nice fullness to the sound, which is similar to delay, but not all at the same time. So when you hear that "synthy" pad going on in the background, its because of all his delays and reverb, which is proven to improve your skills and impact on the listener by an astronomical amount... (only slightly kidding) I hope this helps!!

  • @snowbrdr88 thanks a lot for explanation, now I got it :)

  • @kantefier thanks, and yes, i've been planning on doing a video like you described for a while. soon!

  • great!

  • you used to have an ac15, right?

i really want one to run in stereo with my bugera v22

they're now shipping with the celestion greenback speaker!

  • Pretty

  • I am considering getting a Vox Ac30, how do you like yours?

  • @Hellad00d I really love it. The new ones actually come with better speakers, which is great. And if you get one, look at doing the bright cap mod, really made mine sound better and it is super simple to do.
