You masterpeices are simply put, a emotional mind bliss. Simply amazing stuff here I can stay up all night and listen to this. Life seems so much better all the sudden.
Thanks for this! It's truly inspiring and you're making me branch out into a totally new genre of music with this. Love all your gear and all your sounds!
Heyy bro, I really dig your stuff. It sounds great. Could you tell me what pedal it is you tap at 3:37 to "soften" the sound (I'm guessing it's the compressor)? And could you please give me a quick summary on how you got your track to cut out one-by-one at the end? I understand how you cut out the loop on the dl4 but what about the other tracks.
I want to be able to make a lot of ambient music for my youth worship, what type of pedal would you recomend for a real ambient hillsong united type of sound?
Hey Andrew i really like your music and your pedalboard, i sincerely thank you for these videos, i recently became obsessed with tone, thanks to you i bought my boomerang, but now im stressing on getting the Blue sky and the El capistan, they sound great, now im really like my DL4, but now not sure if i should consider getting the Eventide, so my question is why you use the Eventide more over DL4, it may well be a dump question however dont want to buy a Eventide just to try it, keep doing this
Great sounds / tone / manipulation of effects.... but sincerely, a little too late. Robin Guthrie beat you too the punch a long time ago (30 years) Good Luck!
like your stuff. You might like a band called allthebrightlights as well if you haven't already heard of them. I am not affiliated with them in any way (don't mark it as spam!).
@tubescreamer As you sort of are the representation of my perfect sound, could you give me an idea what delay pedal I should get to build some nice soundscapes, take into account I'm talking singular :) So I suppose I'm searching for something with long delays. And I don't want any boutique pedals. Any idea if I could get close with or a mxr carbon copy, or a ehx memory boy/man, max price should be about 200$. It would mean alot to me if I could get your input, thanks.
@esdenaze if you want long delays i would recommend something digital. if you liked the DL4 but want better build quality, look into the line 6 echo park or the boss dd20.
What you did at the end...Brilliant! Did you do that by placing the reverb after your looper? I know it was the Blue Sky you used to sort of blend it all together like that, but what specifically were the types of reverb used?
Really cool man. I need to get that reverb and a loop pedal cause I wanna do some shit like this...that soundscape type stuff....very cool what you've done man!
Hey man. I LOVE your reverb. what are you using? also, I totally appreciate that you mic up your amp. I don't know if I've told you that before, but its so rare that you find other youtube guitarists that demo their tones and actually take the time to mic the amp.
Anyway, I play an AC30 too, and the built in spring reverb is incredible, but I know you're using something more, and whatever it is, I need to get one, because it sounds incredible. Let me know!
@NoIdeasButInThings hey, i've listed all the pedals i used in the description. let me know if you have any other questions. thanks for taking the time to listen!
I was wondering if you knew who Seth Yates is? He is the electric guitarist for Cory Asbury. Anyways, check out his song faithful to the end by Cory Asbury and listen for the reverb in the back and let me know if he is doing volume swells or not. He uses a Boss RV-5 and a Boss CS-3 Compressor. Our reverberator is better though :) WAYYYYY better. He has a really interesting ambient sound.
This is SO boring. I can play SO many more notes it's RIDICULOUS. Maybe once you learn to play raging fast you will be good. Until then, this is just stupid.

Your videos are helping me a lot with figuring out how to set up my electric rig. So thanks for the time you put into this. I'll send you a track or two once I get everything square so you can see what you've helped create! Haha. Blessings, man.
hey i have a question about your dl4, you seem to be getting quite a long loop out of it. i thought it was only 14 seconds? is there anyway to increase this time?
@mirrastyle4524 if you put the 4th switch down, it doubles the time to 28 seconds. Release it, and it puts it an octave higher and twice as fast. Conversely, it does the opposite if it's not pressed down before the start of the loop.
What are your settings on the blue sky for this video? I love the simplicity of this song. Your phrasing is always superb, thanks for the great music.
I like the tone of your guitar! What guitar are you using and what pickups have you put in the guitar? Also are you using the neck pickup, the bridge or both at the same time. To me it sounds like the middle position on a tele or strat maybe?
Thanks for sharing your awesome adventures in guitaring and pedalboard creations. Oh and the lovely music doesn't hurt either.
thanks a lot andy, now I've gotta spend $300 on a reverb pedal... but seriously, it sounds so good! And props on getting a shout out in the strymon newsletter, that was awesome!
I've seen a lot of people using a dl4 & read equal amount of people complaining about its reliability. What have been your experience with it. I'm thinking of buying it so wondering if its worth the risk.
Wow man... beautiful. I've been watching all your stuff, i love your style. Very inspiring, really refreshing to hear somebody who appreciates the pure power of sound. Thanks for this one bro!
Sounds awesome! Even these timing mistakes sound ok.
Could you make a video "How to get an ambient guitar sound"? Maybe a short tutorial, where you switch on your pedals one by one, so we can hear what do they do to your sound. I still can't realise why do you need two... or even three different delays!
@kantefier The reason for multiple delays is for whats called "cascading delay". Where one delay, set to lets say dotted eighths is delaying into another at lets say quarter notes, then those two cascading into one more maybe at half notes (these probably won't be your settings, its just an example). What this does is provide this very nice, long delay without an audible downbeat. So here, listen to the 2:00 mark, when you hear the guitar delaying out into space, without an audible beat.
@kantefier Then, the reverb just adds a really nice fullness to the sound, which is similar to delay, but not all at the same time. So when you hear that "synthy" pad going on in the background, its because of all his delays and reverb, which is proven to improve your skills and impact on the listener by an astronomical amount... (only slightly kidding) I hope this helps!!
@Hellad00d I really love it. The new ones actually come with better speakers, which is great. And if you get one, look at doing the bright cap mod, really made mine sound better and it is super simple to do.
about how much did you spend on everything on your board, if you dont mind me asking?

@kantefier Then, the reverb just adds a really nice fullness to the sound, which is similar to delay, but not all at the same time. So when you hear that "synthy" pad going on in the background, its because of all his delays and reverb, which is proven to improve your skills and impact on the listener by an astronomical amount... (only slightly kidding) I hope this helps!!

@Hellad00d I really love it. The new ones actually come with better speakers, which is great. And if you get one, look at doing the bright cap mod, really made mine sound better and it is super simple to do.
