I remember when I was about 15 years old , smoking some pot with my friend and listening to this song for the first time, I thought it was real heavy.I think I need to start listening to this band again.
Yeah, 15 was so great! And I definitely agree that you should start listening to this band again.....they have some absolutely freakin' incredible progressive rock music....easily on par with the best ever recorded.
Take care....enjoy! ;-) & thanks for checking it and commenting!
Thank you so much for the kind words! You know, when I was trying to choose the first song from The Roaring Silence album to make a video for "Singing The Dolphin Through" was the first song I thought about, but went with "The Road To Babylon" since it allowed me to dedicate it to my son's friend who was killed in Iraq, but now that you mention it....yeah....it would be a great song to try something with...soon. THANKS for suggesting and reminding! Stay tuned.
You do a great job on the visuals!! How bout putting one together for " Please Don't Judas Me " by Nazerath? That is a great tune if you have not heard it.
I've been playing with a couple of tracks from their Malice In Wonderland album, but "Please Don't Judas Me" is a great suggestion.....might fire that one up and see what happens?
Thanks for the kind words of support and for commenting!
I owned this album when I was in the Navy, in "A" school in Great Lakes, Ill. Loved it! Used to get high and listen to the whole thing. This was one of my fav's on the album. I think the end of the song lends to the title of the album because, when it ends, you hear the Roaring Silence. Good stuff; thanks for posting this.
This track was also one of my favs on the album....but like you say.....the whole album is a great listen.....used to listen though headphones in high school.....an amazing experience. Thanks for commenting.
Manfred Mann's Earth Band did so many amazing songs it was hard to choose one for a video....but I do think this one is one of their best. They remain one of the most underrated acts of the 70's.
I'm pleasantly surprised that this video continues to be one of the most popular I've uploaded.....the song/band has many more fans than I had imagined......love hearing from other fans.
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment!
One of the best bands!! I saw them several times back in the late 70's. Vastly underrated. Also a FINE job w/ the video. May Oscar RIP you did a fine job in his memory. I agree unique tapestries of sound!! "Good Earth" was another fine album. Also Solar Fire's " Father of Sun,Father of Light.
I shall check out your selection of video's later, gotta run to work.
I agree....awesome band! You were so lucky to have seen them during their prime....only one other person commenting has seen them live, seems they toured Europe mostly. Though it's a obscure tune (to non-fans at least) it seemed a natural selection for a video about the middle east conflicts.....happy some people have connected to it.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting....hope to "see" ya around!
Excellent video clip. I have a lot of their albums. Some songs you may consider doing videos from this band are "Visionary Mountains," "Be Not Too Hard," and "Spirits in the Night." Don't know if Manfred's record company will let you keep them on you tube though. Best of luck.
Glad you liked the video and stopped by to comment! So many great songs by this band! I love the three you listed and each would make for a great video.
I hope the companies who hold the rights allow videos which are properly credited and potentially useful advertising for the artist/song to remain up......there is so much great music created in the 60s, 70's, and 80's that is fading into obscurity.....nice that new fans are finding stuff on YouTube.
@MetalGuruMessiah: Manfred Mann´s Earthband was one of my first big live concerts back in 1979 I think was the Angelstation Tour and I was 16 years old. I was always a fan of this band, and I agree ... hugely underrated today. For me always one of the best Progrock bands ever.
i saw them in 1978 in germany and it was one of the best shows i've ever seen and i've seen too many to remember them all. their big commercial hit "blinded by the light" really shows nothing of their true talent and capabilities. thanks for uploading this
Wow, so cool to hear from someone who saw them live during this period! I agree "Blinded By The Light" does not adequately represent the amazing things this band was doing during it's heyday. Do you recall more of the set-list for the night's performance?
I'm wanting to begin working on another video for a song by Manfred Mann's Earth Band....they have so many incredible songs to choose from!
@MetalGuruMessiah it was a long time ago and i actually drank much wine and much smoke so i don't recall everything they played. i googled 1978 tours and it would have had to have been the march 17 show in wiesbaden i saw and this is the set list i found for the 1978 tour which seems fairly accurate. i have to post the setlist in a second reply as there isn't enough room here
* Waiter There's A Yawn In My Ear * Spirits In The Night * Blinded By The Light * Father Of Day * Martha's Madman * Chicago Institute * Davy's On The Road Again * Mighty Quinn
Great tune I am a big fan of the Mann glad you posted I just download solarfire lp from newsgroup the other day which I have on vinyl I also have Nightingales and bombers on vinyl put no longer have a working turn table so I been trying to go digital or mp3 on alot of stuff from the 70s and this is a great subsitute will save to favorite so I can revisit often. I would like to see the tune Nightingales and bombers posted to utube along with other tunes frome tha lp. Thanks for the post
Yes, I'm also a big fan of this band.....they did some incredibly unique and beautiful work. I'm hoping you get a chance to hear the remastered versions of the albums you mention as they are really quite well done and the sound improvement is considerable. I haven't really uploaded any songs that I didn't work up a video for, although lately I've been considering it because I do have many things not even available on CD which I do not yet see on YT.
I'm glad to have made a video of a song that you enjoy! The entire album was fantastic, but I've always been partial to "The Road To Babylon", as well. I believe that Manfred Mann's Earth Band released many beautiful and complex records that are highly underrated. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Great album and the remastering on Manfred Mann's Earth Band albums makes them sound fuller and punchier than the original CD releases. This one, Watch, Angel Station and Chance all sound great....you're probably familiar with some or all of these albums, but if not (and you liked Roaring Silence) check 'em out......awesome music by an awesome band! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment.
Thanks for this.
