  • it seems like these people just ride bikes to fit some stupid fad

  • Didn't see ONE thread of Twin Six apparel in this video. Was it a BIKE show? Or a FASHION show.

  • LOVE cycling, hate "fixies". And when I say I hate fixies, I mean with the white-hot intensity of 1,000 suns. If you're going to cycle, use a real bike - with real brakes so you don't hit people.

  • What dance was that at 1:17?

  • Dancing dude in red at 1:17 is creepin'...

  • All my cloths are bike cloths.....because I ride every day, in whatever I am wearing.

  • none of this stuff is EPIC enough for my riding style. i'll stick to Rapha, thanks very much. [/snarkasm]

  • the problem is, new companies and designers, need to make a certain profit, in order to continue making their cycling clothing. The majority of riders, can't afford, or looks at that stuff, as added expenses, that could be going towards their biking habit. If i had money to burn, it would be on bike gear, not a fancy pants outfit..

but i usually dress like a clown.. so what to do what to do..

  • Get some cycling specific grease paint?

  • why did isaacbickerstaffesq feel the need to comment repeatedly

  • Because YT feels the need to disallow me to do it once. It annoys me too. Talk to them, kid.

  • It's great to see how companies are bringing cycling closer to the mainstream even more. The better they make us look, the more people will become interested in it.

    Awesome show too!

  • How does this clothing look any different than regular non-cycling clothing.... People don't get interested in a sport because of fashion, otherwise I'd see all those people running around in North Face jackets actually out, y'know, hiking...

The purpose of fashion is to sell clothing, period, and don't pretend it's anything else. If you wanted to ride a bike you would - no overpriced clothing is going to change that.

  • Many people reject cycling as a form of recreation because they have the perception that it involves wearing lycra and jerseys full of branding and logos and so on.

The point of this video is precisely that the clothes featured in it don't look different from non-cycling clothing.

  • If people think that you need to wear lyrca and tight fitting clothing to ride a bike then they: A) are an alien who just crash-landed on this planet and the first person they saw was wearing lycra and tight fighting clothing and that's their frame of reference, or B) are too stupid to ride a bike, or C) have become conditioned to the sports industry (and, by extension, the fashion industry) telling them they can't do something without the proper "gear".

I say: Stop posing, start riding!

  • Heh, you'd be surprised how many stupid people there are ;-)

"Stop posing, start riding!" <--- +100!

  • I get my "closer to the mainstream" cycling clothes from Wal-Mart. I find that they're so close to the mainstream that they're virtually indistinguishable.

  • If by "closer to the mainstream cycling clothes" you mean inexpensive, normal clothing that you and every other normal person with half a brain wears then good for you (seriously, not be snarky here).

But Isaac, the cycling/fashion industry thinks you're a loser because you didn't buy a $295 cycling jacket that you'll get all dirty riding around town.

  • Oh I was very seriously being VERY snarky. Twill Wranglers are on sale right now for 9 bucks. Nice pants. Grab 'em while your size lasts, then go take 'em for a bike ride.

Maybe on a NEXT LaJolla cruiser: an excellent town beater. Order online for 89 bucks or pick it up off the floor for 99 while you're grabbing your 9 dollar pants.

  • Caveat: The above applies if you or yours is a decent mechanic. The bike WILL have to be totally disassembled (including the coaster brake) and put back together properly. Before that it's a piece of junk; AFTER that it's a sweety that will draw more compliments from common folk than your Cinelli. All the decals peel right off so that people won't know it's junk and will only be able to judge it on its actual merits.

  • Disclaimer: I have been used to riding high end road bikes in full race kit for 40 years. This does not, however, disqualify me from recognizing and/or utilizing perfectly good utilitarian bikes for utilitarian purposes in utilitarian clothing. Especially if they're dirt cheap. I like dirt cheap. Especially if I'm risking having it stolen while I'm in the library.

  • Speaking of which:

    "buy a $295 cycling jacket "

Wrangler Hero denim. 20 bucks. One breast pocket for your wallet; one for your iPhone. Two inside pockets, big enough for a cable lock on one side and a coupla DVDs you picked up at the library on the other. This modern cycling specific clothing is fantastic. They've thought of everything.
