@xXxvienna Well that's the thing about this particular genre of metal. It's called "Symphonic metal" or "Gothic Metal". It's not mainstream metal like you'd expect like Bullet for my valentine, Trivium, Slipknot. This genre, which is one of my favorite, always has orchestral music. You see, I listen to ALL types of music, classical, opera, metal, etc. One really needs to hear it all to understand the art and how great it sounds when metal meets orchestra. A real gothic feel.

I mean, in Germany, England, mostly European countries, there are thousands of fans since most metal originated from Norway and those European Countries. In the US, extreme metal is not mainstream. Besides, Cradle of Filth has a HUGE fan base & crowd but they aren't mainstream even though they did get a bit soft. But they retaliated with Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa. COF FTW!!!

Mainstream has nothing to do with 'easy to hear", but with following a "main" current and complying to its lines.

Being mainstream also has nothing to do with being commercial or bad quality.

Classical instruments mixed in metal don't make it symphonic. Symphonic is above all, about structure.

Old (real) Nightwish was melodic power metal, no matter what some idiot user wrote on wiki or the like.

New (shit) Nightwish is power pop all night and day.
