  • love dhalsim..

  • why Zangief not use Double Lariat or Banishing Flat to enter near Dhalsim?

  • lol, it's like: "take this,*slap* take that*slap*, and that*slap*"...

  • It is possible to win with Gief against Dhalsim...even Iyo's. But Itabashi was far too impatient here...

  • for me the key to getting in vs a good turtle sim is lariats to hit limbs like you do with fireball chars and empty jumpins/normals to get into range of a 360.

  • Amazing Dhalsim player.

  • what a gay match up

  • @Killcycle1989 How so? Cause it's characters other than Ryu and Akuma?

  • @Galaga135 because Zangief does not have the tools to beat a well thought Sim

  • I love playing Gief, but whenever I watch him in higher level play I get mad.

It's hard for him to get in. All he has is the quick lariat, the EX flats, and sometimes down mp to close the distance.

Against Sagat, who is an ass haha, it's hard to get past tiger shot spams. He recovers to fast from them. You quick lariat and he throws another at a different height and speed. You try to jump in and his standing hk can beat you or a tiger uppercut.

    Gotta love the SPD though.

  • gay

  • Yeah, Dhalsim hard to fight, and seems Itabashi don't have enough antiDhalsim tactics. But there is some technics that can help to fight back)

  • that had to have been incredibly frustrating for zangief lol

  • Dhalsim counters Zangief. Hard. This isn't impressive.

  • @HomestarRunner20X6 agreed. don't know why people are gong like OMFG LOL DHALSIM OWNED THAT ZANGIEF.

any hi punch/kick from dhalsim pretty much nullifies zangief. and he has an anti-air move and a long range fireball... it's just lopsided

  • @iMPERiOUS Yup, and even IF Zangief manages to evade the fireballs and limbs well enough to get in close... Dhalsim will just teleport away before Zangief can do any real damage.

  • Zangief left the match on a full stomache, s he had some yoga feetz.

  • dhalsim is the only character who has a better super than ultra lol

  • @D1LatedPupils You're forgetting Seth.

  • gief against Iyo? bad idea.

  • The zangief players is pretty bad :/

  • @sirguigui

Itabashi is one of the better Zangief players in Japan you clueless fool.

He defeated daigo in one of the match vids here on YT:

    watch?v=cjindSU_6h4

  • what people need to realize is that daigo isn't even that amazing, he loses a decent amount, just not really in america...

  • @sirguigui dhalsim has the advantage at the 3 person distance ... he did good keeping zangief there ... that zangief player is one the better gief's

  • @sirguigui I guess you don't even know what Street Fighter is -_-

  • @sirguigui if you are dhalsim, you will probably get raped by itabashi. Iyo is one of the best dhalsim too.

  • lol "probably" why would you even use that word, itabashi is a fucking amazing player, exchange probably for definitely

  • @DoucheFagX yep i know itabashui is very strong player. Well, but i don"t know what's that guy skill.

  • @sirguigui

If Iyo can make Itabashi look bad, I wonder what he'll do to you. Hmm...

  • Mad skillz

  • Pfft shoulda saw this comin...wayyyyy too easy to zone zangief out especially wen its Dhalsim we're talkin about lol...great game to both but damn thats an annoying matchup for big ass gief...isnt there a rule where u can sort of skip a certain matchup that doesnt benefit you and face sum1 else in these tourneys? im not sure..

  • hahahaha! there's no way to win!

  • Iyo is like Dhal's steroids...

  • This Zangief beat Daig too

  • SIM IS ANNOYING

  • zang is too slow thats annoying

  • wow

  • Ultimate zoning !!

  • Dhalsim is such a nightmare for Zangief. At least a good Dhalsim like Iyo.

  • I think Zangief could have used the ex green hand on a few occassions to get close and then grab. I always play as Dhalsim and my friend always plays as Zangief, so this was a great match to watch.

  • now THAT is how you own a zangief.

  • man its hard to get close to a d player

  • I agree with those thinking that zanguief is a hard character to use, espacially against good dalsim or seth. The matchup isnt balanced imho, although i m aware that dalsim is hard to master too, and has weak matchups too. I think zanguiefs have many 5-5 rankings because noob guiefs spam lariat against other noobs that never block or never punish them (just like ken dragons punchs at lower levels), but as u get to higher levels, there are fewer guiefs because those mistakes are heavily punished.

  • @Fegafatoi one of the major reasons u dont see him used alot at higher levels is fuckin sagat. Its such a burtal matchup for gief and stops alot of peopel from useing him. All sagat has to do is throw out round houses.

  • It just isn't fair to be Zangief.

  • itabashi is very good but it is how he handle this mtch up that cause him to fall this time

  • Itabashi is an amazing Gief but he seems to love his normals just a little too much.

  • LOL, both you guys don't know what you're talking about. This matchup is 5-5, and the matchup hasn't changed in years. If Sim can keep Gief out Sim wins. If Gief gets in, Gief wins. What you don't realize is that Iyo is playing, and hands down he's the best SF4 player. It wasn't a fluke that he won the Japanese Nationals. Itazan was the best Gief back then, and still is amongst the top Giefs now. This match is as simple as Iyo outplaying Itazan, nothing more.

  • well done. I always have a hard time with good giefs. when they walk forward with strong / roundhouse / random lariats, it is frustrating. But Iyo proves , with deadly execution, timing, distance, it is a good match up.

  • That what i don't like in SF, there are certain matchups that are so biased and almost impossible to win if both players are of high skill. Ryu is one of the few characters to avoid this assuming you play him perfectly.

IMO its a sign of a bad game because you physically have to use a different character to win certain matchups, even if you are technically the better player, you need to be CONSIDERABLY better, and once you reach a certain standard, it becomes exponential/impossible to do it

  • @Jamerio3D

It also forces people to counter pick, and its due to bad design because characters like Ryu have no real matchup disadvanatges.

You phyiscally won't beat Seth or a top SIm using Zangief, you might win one or two with some luck, but most of the time, you're fighting a losing battle.

Let's hope Capcom improve in Super.

  • @Jamerio3D do you know how good you have to be with dahlsim to beat zangief like that? any moron can pick zangief.

  • Coming back to my point on matchups, how is it fair that a character like RYU can be used to beat everyone if mastered, yet no matter how good you get with gief and a few others, there will always be matchups that he will lose in the long run because of nothign more than inconsistent game design.

A good enough player should win no matter what, when the game starts dictating who can beat who based purely on matchup is when you end up playing flawed games.

Super Turbo was the best version.

  • It also forces people to use the old favourites when capcom should be offering more incentives to use some of the newer, less played characters.

if I come across another RYU/KEN/SAGAT/AKUMA I might die of boredom.

  • yes they bore me big time

  • @Jamerio3D

You dont know what youre talking about, this matchup is easier for gief. Its just that he didnt play well, NO EX GREEN HAND

  • @mviejo1

Lol you troll dont tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, every pro player in the world knows a top sim will beat top gief. This is probably the best zangief in the world, this is how the matchup is.

It favours sim because gief always has to come to him, sim has so many keep outs and escapes. And knows once he has a lead the pressure is ALWAYS on zangief. Check the matchup rankings before you talk shit in public.

  • @Jamerio3D to add to that he's playing against arguably the best sim in the world, he is japans national champ after all

  • True, but Itabashi has beaten Daigo with that Zangief, this was probably the best gief in the world at this time. Look how badly he got owned.

That's got nothing to do with a bad day, its simply due to the matchup favouring Sim from the word go.

It gets even worse when gief has to play Seth.

A well designed game should allow the best player to win regardless of character.

I'm saying SF4 has match ups which are physically impossible to win longterm, while characters like Ryu do not. Biased.

  • @Jamerio3D

    its 5-5.

    Yeeeaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Yea maybe to us online scrubs but it wouldn't work that well against the top dhalsim.

  • Comment removed

  • the vs played out perfectly... As a Gief player, it's tough to watch, I feel the frustration!

  • will his new ultra make a difference 0_o

    ???

  • Damn, Iyo is crazy, def. the best SF4 Dhalsim I've seen so far.

  • dhalsim will pwnd gief in real life

  • normals

  • iyo is my fav player ever but why does he never escape corner with jump followed by down and weak kick.

    for max traveling spiral kick.

very easy to keep away from geif with that once cornerd.

  • Gief can probably follow it with EX palm, and maybe a throw if that whiffs.

  • that doesn't work. Even if you do it at the top of the arc, he can just walk back slightly and lariat

  • Im just impressed that itabashi was even able to get off an spd, bad matchup anyways

  • this Dhalsim is awesome

  • even after years of street fighter, I still think dhalsim is annoying as fuck.

  • Yes... The best Dhalsim in the world is the most boring...

  • he made zangief look like it was his first streetfighter match lolz

  • @KellysterOverdrive well this has always been a bad match up for gief

  • Needs more EX green hand.

  • i totally agree - not nearly enough of that in this match - and it surely would have been a quality equalizer against 'sims low health

  • Lol Zangief got no chances vs Dalshim... its so simple

  • folks, once you've accumulated some real wisdom on this incredible game, you'll see that there's absolutely no such thing as cheap, especially for players of this skill level. Itabashi's Gief is a friggin' wrecking machine. Iyo played this match to absolute PERFECTION, demonstrating why he's certainly the world's best Dhalsim and as far as pure playing genius, my fav in the World.

  • Everyone raving "The game is balanced, Iyo is just better" are douches.

This match is extremely hard for Gief to win.

  • Agreed, he played it smart by keeping Zangief away. He was fortunate to have hit that one piledriver. Any character with great reach can hold Zangief back with relative ease, he matched him up well.

  • lol at ppl sayin this game is not balanced and that iyo is cheap. iyo beat itabashi by playin his character better. dhalsim is meant to be played by controlling range. gief's range is short and is meant to be played close to the opponent utilizing powerful attacks and grabs. if gief got in a lot of grabs and won, there would be ppl sayin gief is cheap because of his high power and high HP. iyo played the better match, get over it

  • did iyo quit sf4?

  • yes for his work

  • I think so

  • Lol so nice to see a gief get wasted like that and as for calling that cheap what was he supposed to do get in close to gief and let him spam throws left right and centre seeing as they beat pretty much every move and combo gief is the cheapest character there is.

  • Die like the overpowered fucker he is.

  • Have you ever tried using Dhalsim? It's really hard to play like this guy is, he's just really really good, he isnt being cheap.

  • So what your basically saying is that it's ok to be cheap as longs as it's difficult?

It's messed up, the game is broken in terms of character balance. They weren't designed to fight eachother.

  • How is it cheap at all, Iyo played his zoning game and kept Gief away in perhaps the best showing I've ever seen.

Maybe it's cheap because you like Gief and want TO SMASH PUNY YOGURT MAN but that's not how SF4 works. Sim plays the range game, and Iyo plays it damn near perfectly. Gief plays the in close game, and he didn't get a chance, and the time's he did get in close Iyo ate half health bar.

tl;dr: Iyo pwns, gief got slaughtered, theres nothing cheap about winning.

  • I can only assume you play Gief. I can't count all the times I've gotten messages such as "Fight like a man" from Giefs. What those scrubby idiots don't understand is that upclose, Dhalsim will be raped by Gief. Hence the keepaway game.

  • lol dhalsim is also my main and i get those messages from angry giefs players as well. Its really ridic as if me dhalsim the slowest character in the game is gona walk in to the strongest player in the game and expect to some out victorious. They did not give dhalsim long arms for no good reason,

  • I do the same to Zangief players in the PS network. The trick is not to panic. If Zangief gets close, do not attack too often (Spinning Lariat can be a REAL pain against Dhalsim's long range punches), and keep him out of Pile Driver's reach. Other than that, just watch out for his Banishing Flat, and drain his energy slowly but surely.

Yeah, that makes quite a lot of things to think about during a match, but that's Street Fighter...

  • Thats why Iyo ist THE BEST Dhalsim-Player on earth !

  • @DaisukeXYX But he does not do anything against gief apart from what everyone else does... fire, poke, jump poke, fire, poke, jump poke!

  • i woulda thougt gief was heavily disadvantaged. its hard enuf for him to get close and when dhalsims main advantage is staying away, it doesnt look to good for gief. but thats just my opinion

  • Can't he do anything to Dhalsim's arms? I seem to remember being able to falling sky a jumping Dhalsim's fierce punch...

  • That was rape...

  • Got to love Iyo.

  • hhaaha true that!

  • It would be great to see the best of each character to fight against each other:Daigo/Fuudo(Ryu), Momochi/Tokido(Gouki), Uryo/FZ(Viper), Shiro(Abel), Mago/RF/OjisanBoy(Sagat), Akimo(Honda), Itabashi Zangief(Zangief), Fujisawa/Yoshiwo(Guile), Nemo/Nuki(ChunLi), Tetsu(Fuerte), Sutoraikun(Ken), Kindevu(Rufus),Maison(Boxer), Iyo(Dhalism), 靜岡最強(Blanka), Inoue(Dictator).

  • there is type in gods garden....in the search and there was a tournament held and these ppl actually fight each other it's pretty cool

  • bad matchup for zangief not to take away the fact that iyo is god

  • I was under the impression that match-up was roughly even, if not slightly in Zangief's favour.

  • Zangief v Dhalsim is suppoed to be even, but not Iyo v Itabashi. Although it's amazing how Zangief is always referred to as overpowered, but I've not seen anyone Zangief really well. There's just not an awful lot you can do with him. Same goes for someone like Honda. Really powerful one or two hit combos, that's it. Must be why most pro players use balanced characters like Ryu.

  • Ah right. I guess I was wrong about the Zangief vs Dhalsim match up!

Also, check out Akimo. His Honda is amazing. Beat Daigo once (in a very bad quality video, and casual match too, but that's not the point XD ).

  • thats why ryu is an overplayed character too and thats fucking sad

  • Its awesome seeing my 2 favourite pros go at it. Interesting when you think about It. Daigo beat Iyo, Iyo beat Itabashi, but Itabashi beat Daigo.

  • o.O

  • All that proves is that youtube does not have all the matches on video.

  • is it really...ryu has projectiles and his hurricane can cover more ground than a ex green hand to get in close to dhalsim....but ryu has to get inclose to do damage and you don't want to be inclose with zangief

  • i dont think its a bad matchup for gief.. i think he just needs to familiarise it a bit more!

Gief has el fuerte and sagat as the worse match ups in my opinion.

  • Enorme, Iyo est vraiment un Dieu avec son Dhalsim, je ne me lasse pas de le voir jouer.

    Quel stratege, c'est impressionnant.

  • ouais c'est trop nice voir un bon Dhalsim jouer

  • i'm just wondering why the gief didn't choose to use his ex glove when the sim player was abusing back medium kick...maybe i'm missing something...

  • Wow...i've never seen Gief owned like this. Even when Daigo is playing Itabashi, the matches will be close but this was just no contest...

  • this game is so lame... 15 years later and gief still has no new tools to stop this bullshit. Honestly SF4 de-evolved the SF franchise. 3s was the best and will probably be the last good SF game. Parry for the win... not this keep away zoning bullshit 15 years and running. Zzzzzzzzzzz

  • whats a better game then?

  • yea I guess the mindgames just got to you. Don't blame yourself. Blame your parents for creating a dumb kid like you.

  • Try to play Dhalsim and NOT think at all. We all know what would happen then. 3S was flawed. You can tell by number of Chun li's at the final. Everyone was using Chun li and won with it.

  • and don't forget rinse and repeat geneijin combos.

  • Comment removed

  • i saw 0 combos in this fight... ;( plane strategy

  • well sim doesn't have much in the combo department, and the zangief couldn't get in on him. so.....

  • There were a few 2 hit combos, I'm just being nit-picky but they count as combos. :)

  • it's so neat; gief can't do any damage unless he gets up close, and dhalsim's whole game is built around staying away and avoiding hits because his health is so low.

  • and for all u gief haters, i hope u know now that gief isn't fed his fighters with a silver spoon - some of his matches are uphill battles, if not impossible

  • Exactly, people fail to realise that getting in with Gief is a real challenge and that he can have real trouble with certain characters.

That is why he has such high defense, people seem to over exaggerate his damage just because they look base it on what they can dish out on him.

People that use Zangief deserve respect, anyone who hates on him is a scrub...

  • Zangief vs. Seth is almost impossible. Zangief vs Dhalsim is just behind.

  • even though i hate Zang with passion, i have to agree that this match should have been frustrating for Itabashi. Iyo really knowed how to anticipate all Itabashi moves...

  • lyo is one of the best player in the world..if anyone dosnt know that ...

  • Wow great match. Iyo did a good job keeping the distance. As long as he's far away Zangief can't do a thing :D

  • oh so SBO = Super Battle Opera

  • everytime you ppp he will punch your lower part you moron lol

  • only high attacks eg sagat hk can poke sucsesfuly at gief if he dose not know wat to do. i also said ppp/kkk, go get some gangciclovir iv to help u read beter, i owned hundreds of dals that way regardless of who plays dal, his attacks canot change only his tactics if u play my gief like that ill make u find another way 2 play. i was right a noob will be offended

  • Hahaha a random "self-claimed pro" call Iyo and Itabashi noobs lol

If you are that great post some top videos against world-class players instead of making stupid comments on youtube lmao

I am sorry but I don't think you stand any chances against these players with only hundreds of games.. these players played at least several THOUSANDS of games against top players

Oh btw, you will still get poked if you spam ANY moves, regardless of ppp/kkk lmao

  • if u could read, u would know that im not calling iyo or itabashi noobs i know very well dem japan pros, u clearly dont understand wat im saying, actualy my friends from all over discussed gief vs dal topic and u the only one who preceived it that way, i mean if u did not no do like me and ask "wat r u talkin about" and as a mater of fact a gief player told me antisipating dals attack and avoid spamming is very efective

  • Your argument is nonsense. But at least you know your Grammar is terrible right? You said ppp/kkk can counter any pokes? No, you can't hit him except when you are lucky.

Did you even watch the video here? Gief did 5 kkk, and 4 out of 5 he got punched. 1 is just lucky I know you fail in speaking English but at least watch the video before you talk any shit

  • it's a rule and out of respect not to spam kkk/ppp or green hand in pro level matches. That's how you win fom Sims.

  • bullshit

  • aaaaaannnnd thats y u get thumbs down.

  • yea u no how it is

  • your comment made me loled

  • Because EX hand is a free throw into the corner and a reset across the screen for Dhalsim.

  • only ONE ex hand.... ita sometimes has brainfarts. no disrespect to iyo cuz geez that was a brick wall n a half with all that zoning. but ONE ex hand? how else do u expect to get close?

  • seeing good sim players is just awesome

he is such an overlooked character

  • Iyo is a BEAST at sim.

  • Only Iyo could zone Itabashi like that. Both of them are beastly.

  • well, thats pro dhalsim vs gief for ya, its just completely lopsided in sim's favour, all you people saying itabashi is impatient blah blah blah he tried just about everything he could to try and get near dhalsim.

  • your an idiot

  • you're*

I normally don't do that but if you're going to call someone stupid, heh, well...

  • He didn't use EX hand! It's a five five match up for a reason and that's one of them. SF2 is broken despite the revolution it was. You get 1.5/8.5 match-ups on that game. This game has some really bad match-ups too but this isn't one of them.

  • Denied at every attempt to get close...

  • frustrating for the zangief player to almost can't get close to dhalsim

  • Iyo is freggin boss

  • iyo's untouchable

  • 1:21 Your telling me kick lariat beats out sims standing lk????? He's kicking him in the toes for christ sakes.

  • Whenever I see Iyo play it always feels like there's this inevitability, you know? Like anything the other guy tries can and will be countered no matter what.

  • honestly though we didn't see one ex green hand. You have to start guessing against sim especially with the big guy. If he could have scored one or two knock downs this game might have ended differently.

  • Thank you! I noticed that too. Many people don't realize how useful EX hand is.

  • in your dream!

  • poor gief :(

  • wow, gief couldnt do shit

  • Itabashi doesn't play against Dhalsim enough......
