@bato0r1 It's good to feel that way about driving on the ice. You have to be careful and make sure it's safe. We have to drive over the ice to our house for about six months each winter. There's no ot her way to get there. In the summer we drive our boat.
@frankovich213 Hi Frankovich. I wait a little longer for the ice to get thicker. I'm already home and testing the ice out to our landing. If it isn't thick enough I just go back and wait. This year once we got out we drove to the landing by snowmachine and switched to the car there. We were on snowmachines about a week until it was thick enough for the car.
@ccalvinn27 read your magazine, I am born and raised in Wisconsin... 7" is REALLY asking a lot of the ice, trust me. It's not like it's ice made in your freezer... there's freeze, thaw, freeze again, rain on top, snow on top, warm currents under the ice, etc...

So what happens if the ice is not thick enough to drive on? You can't go home? Or are there alternative routes?
Sorry if I sound naive, but I live in Australia where we don't have anything like this. It's amazing!
