or Create a video response i swear on everything i know.ive been a cultivator for 15 years and have finally found the solution... its called "NoSpider mites. look it up they have a web site. not only is its safe to you and your ladies. it also kills in 24 hours. and yes Evan the eggs. yep i said it Evan eggs. I don't work for them ether. it is very expensive throw. 130 dollars for one gallon and its not concentrate. 100% works
Wow that's devastating to the industry. Resistance builds up quicker when there are few product options. Options for a landscape will often be impractical a large commercial grower. Releasing predatory mites is good for a long term plantings but not container plants that are going to leave and be replaced by others. It's also expensive, intensive, & takes time to work. Mites can't take getting wet frequently so I wonder if there is any way to do this on 7 acres 1-2 times/week for 2 or 3 weeks?
Spider Mites are next to impossible to kill currently May of 2011. We have 7 acres of nursery in Apopka Florida and nothing is killing them. Ovacide, mitacide, Shuttle, Organic stuff and a few other products. Over the past couple years the government has pulled some of the most affective products off the market that were great for flling mites. Homestead Florida is having a horrible time with Mites this year as well. A lot of Nurseries in Apopka have resorted to trashing 100s of plants.

Spider mites are the spawn of SATAN!! UG! They are whacking everything in my garden! I blast them with water every other day... the little vamps are still having a party! **cries** Is there no end to them? Insecticidal soap, Neem, I even went as far as buying a miticide AVID and they are STILL present. They are very difficult to get rid of. The battle continues!

@HolyChikin - Wow if you tried all that something is very wrong with the situation. All those things kill spider mites. Make sure you are spraying upward from under the foliage or most sprays won't do any good. You might take some leaves to your local County Extension Office for them to look over and make the problem is spider mites since something else may also be involved. Put leaves in a ziplock bag before taking them to keep all possible culprits with the plant sample.
@HolyChikin Avid will kill the mites and eggs-all of em. You might have to repeat this spray once more, but be careful. Keep the grow room CLEAN at all times, pick up and dispose of any leaves that fall off or are damaged. If this doesn't work, try the miticide at 1/2 tsp/ gallon instead of 1/4 gallon-good luck
skipgarden, Thank you for this video. What is that spray device called? Is it run on a generator? I can't afford one like that, is there a type of sprayer like that one that can just be pumped up? If so where do you get one? I have literally gone through thousands of dollars trying to rid myself of spider mites. I have come to the point now where I just accept them.
I just wan tto keep them in check... This seems like a viable option.
@CondemnedPatriot - It's called a water wand and I don't see them for sale any more. Basically it is composed of a garden hose connection, a gate valve, a stiff tube and a cone type spray nozzle. I have seen folks build their own. There is a device on the market called a bug blaster but I have not used it and thus am not able to confirm its effectiveness.
ive got them crawling all over my playsets and concrete. i hosed down the concrete and playset but they keep coming back in the hndreds. how do i permently get rid of them? is spider mites the red bugs that squish into a red mess?
Those red bugs you are seeing are probably not spider mites. Try taking some to your local County Extension Service Office for identification and if appropriate for control recommendations.
I can 2nd what he is saying here. The trick, besides blasting them off, is to get/keep the eggs moist. If they do not stay dry, they cannot hatch. I have had better success with this method than with pyrethrene or neem. The important thing when using these is to get them UNDER the leafs as spraying the tops only does absolutely nothing. By the way, thats a great sprayer, where did you get it?
@llewej7 The sprayer is called a "Water Wand". They used to be available from a guy in Missouri who made and sold them. Then someone in Texas bought the "business", but now I don't see this model for sale anywhere. It is basically a "cone jet nozzle" at a 45 degree angle on one end of a tube with a gate valve on the other end where the garden hose hooks up. Some gardeners have made their own.
when you use neem oil, put it on a sponge then wipe it on all the branches and leaves avoid the buds!, if u get a little on the buds, it will barely mess with it, but avoid it!
I have 4 bushes together and it seems they always infest the same bush. Is there a reason for that? Where do they come from? I have tried using Bayer Disease and Mite control but it hasn't seemed to be very effective. So I took ur advice and blasted the H3LL outta those bushes tonight with water... but won't they just come back? Now that I have a small infestation what can I do to get rid of them? This makes 3 years now of fighting them and it seems a losing battle every year.
Not sure why one bush is more often infested than the others. Perhaps it is a different variety or perhaps it is in more sun. Mites do return after the water blast so you'll need to repeat every week or two to keep their numbers down. In late summer/fall mites tend to not be as much of a problem. But it is easy to do; just remember to blast upward to get all the leaf undersides.
Use AVID, 1/2tps per gallon. And a sticker spredder w/ pH buffer w/ color indicator "suck as COLOR AIDE". And a Non-ionic wetting agent "such as DI AQUA. neither of which have to be measured, but never over do it. And fungicides if needed to control black spot and mold/mildew.
Spray all the bottoms of leafs frist and then the tops, 150-200psi pump presure if possible.
Spray every 7-14 days but stop atleast 14 days before harvest. All the above chems can be bought at Regal Chemical
WATER ONLY? HMMM. I wish it were that easy. PYRETHIUM works good for infestation but preventitive treatment i use neem oil. Also Organicide. I use maybe 3 treatments over a 2 week period. NO more mites. Under leaves is best for application, i agree, but water only? I dont believe it.
Well, you should try it. Repeated weekly with a strong blast of water it removes a LOT of them and shuts down the exponential growth of their numbers so that they just aren't much of a problem. Just make sure and use a good fine droplet blast. The pesticides you mentioned work fine as do the soap and oil I mention in the video but some folks prefer to not have to spray any pesticide. Anyway, thanks for watching the video!

Spraying water won't kill the eggs though. A spray such as neem oil (100% organic) should do the trick.
