What is the difference between Half Life Vanilla and Cinematic mod?

1. the character models in the cinematic version are purely crap.

2. Alyx looks like a prostitute in cinematic. Did they do this seriously just to get people to pay attention? Is this mod that bad? Alyx can't be taken seriously as a character if she looks like a prostitute.

3. The cinematic version is just darker and shiner. How is that better graphics? Just made everything glossier and added stupid character models.

Yeah, changing the character models is optional, and you can even choose which characters to change and which not. Although I'm not a fan of the new character DESIGN, the models are really good. I usually take the Alex one with the see-through top.

The music is mostly overly dramatic, imho, but I'm not a fan of the vanilla techno-bullshit either. Since I have a German Steam account, the mod also removed the consored violence, which is always a plus.

I seriously DO recommend this.

@AnonRanGER01 Is it possible to keep the original music as well? I actually loved the electronic, sort of ambient soundtrack from the original. The orchestral stuff is alright I guess, but it doesn't seem to fit with Half Life.

I just couldn't play it without the original character models and music intact.

Hm, there's nothing in the setup, but I think there are instructions how you can keep the original music. Not sure though. Either way, the mod is definitely worth trying.

No, it just means that it isn't what the players remember, and it really throws people off. By the way, I agree that Alyx does not look good in here. It's a decent concept, but it cannot replace the original.

If you don't aktivate them with the " Charakter Pimper" there are no HD models, so if you don't want to play with them just don't activate them and all the original Valve models are used.

Cinematic G-Man looks sleepy or bored. Cinematic Breen got hair dye (but apparently not enough) and gained weight. Also, the hallway got dark. How do people see the fence!? Also the music ruins the inmersion I guess... In a game like this that really makes you feel you're into it music is not really needed...
