  • I am listening to Hickok45 radio while reading about carry laws across the US!

  • I really do not like any of your guns except for this one. You should review more reliable guns because a majority of your guns are pieces of urine molecules. But its okay, i will cut you old guys some slack by just trashing this video with one comment.

  • shotgun? side by side? btw screw those trolls. ur the man!

  • shotgun? side by side?

  • Springfield 45-70s my guess

  • I have found it enjoyable to listen to your radio show while cleaning my guns coming off of the range. Thanks for the insight not readily found!

  • I once had a gun shop salesman tell me that rust on a kimber barrel was "just a patina". Apparently the Kimber rep had told the guy that and he bought it. Just goes to show you not everyone is privy to the same knowledge

  • I am not proud of where I am from.. :( Well in regards to gun control I am not proud. Ca. No gun issues to be proud of anywhere around here.. ha ha

  • Hickok, your 400th video is closing in fast. Hope you'll make something special just like in the other ocasions.

  • Liked your favorite western picks. Like Tombstone, but don't like the way actors did their shooting...jerking their guns the way they did. I shoot a Peacemaker once in a blue moon so I know they don't jump around that much, but still one of my western keepers. Take care.

  • I am with you silverado superb tribute to the western movie. great photography, great stories rolled into one. unforgiven..Clint Eastwood need i say more!!!

  • I'm 22 and I think westerns are awesome.

  • Now thats the way to open a radio program!

My movie pick: The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

  • Is there a safe way for you to make notes while driving?!

  • Hello Hickock.first time for me hearing your broadcast like this.I did skip ahead some. Always enjoy your shooting videos from that awesome compound you have. As for all the movies, for me they all have one very important thing in common.good old values and morals. Peace,Carl Sr. in Navarre Fl.

  • you are the best...

  • yuo are the best.

  • I made it to 17:30 and clicked off.

  • I love listening and lurning of you. You are an ispiration and an good teacher, and for that I thank you! I`m an totally new born shooter, and I`we lurned safethy and the most important things by waching you! • nice work

  • thanks for making good videos, good common sense talk, thanks again

  • Im becoming a hardcore viewer... lol

  • i think the gun of the week is a caplock rifle

  • COWBOYS IS AWESOME. I first watched this when I was 11 or 12 with my dad 20 years ago.

The Outlaw Josey Wales has some excellent comments about war and violence that seem counter-intuitive to an "action" western.

  • 1860 Enfield Civil War Musketoon.

  • Gun action of the week: a muzzle loader perhaps? The Brown Bess .75 cal. from the night shoot video?

  • gun action guess: flint lock rifle

  • open range is the best

  • I been watching you from first glock 19 video ; )

  • @seven47katana, You might be due a mental evaluation then by now!! :-)

  • Lonesome Dove is easily the best TV series (or movie, depending on how you look at it) in existance.

    Hmmmm... Brown Bess Flintlock.

Also, a request for an 1897 shotgun video, if you come across one that you want.

  • The Good, Bad and The Ugly is my all time faverit Western Movie. In my oppion the best movie Clint Eastwood ever did. Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallec where great in that movie.

  • ★★★★★

My favorite Westerns are: Unforgiven, True Grit (the remake), 3:10 To Yuma, Open Range, The Quick & The Dead (the remake) and Pale Rider.

    :-)

  • @TheMultiGunMan , All favorites of mine, too. I like both the old Glenn Ford version and and the recent remake of "3:10 to Yuma."

  • @hickok45 what about silverado and big jake ?

  • @ethanotemo , Two of my favorites!!!

  • @ethanotemo

what about lonesome dove? robert duvall and tommy lee jones at their best!

  • hello sir Hickok45, i was thinking on buying a glock30 .45 and can you give me your expert opinion..is it a good gun to purchase!! how much do you know about it! please i need your help :-) thank you sir..Have a great day!

  • Considering you didn't work the action I'm going to assume it doesn't have one so it's a muzzle loader. I'll guess flintlock.

  • gun action: rossi double barrel stage coach shotgun, with hammers.

  • True grit was one of the best westerns I've ever seen, I don't know it just really fit me perfectly, and I was in such a perfect mood for the movie when I watched it in the cinema.

  • I'm going to guess a Sharps Rifle in .45-70 (we all know how much Hickok loves his .45-70). Should be a good time for Hickok to get his Quigley on :D

BTW a Sharpes is top of my list for "Guns to Get Before I Die." Dunno why but I have always loved them.

  • I saw the dealer invoice for a Mini 14 223, His cost was $509 (I paid $699). So anything after the $509 mark is going towards retail. By the way, the Mini is a great rifle. My kid was hitting a good grouping on an 18x18 inch target at 100 yards with NO scope. Heck, even I had good fortune with it. I liked the wood stock as it has a about 1/2 inch of extra length to the butt. I have Ruger magazines for 20 and 30 rounds. NO jamming whatsoever...

  • blunderbuss?

  • hickok45 can you shoot a rope on 1 of your videos?.like clint did in the movie outlaw josey wales.

  • outlaw josey wales and hickok45 # 1.

  • match lock

  • cap lock

  • I actually listened yesterday and it was nice to actually listen to the show on the day it was uploaded. As to westerns pretty much anything with Clint Eastwood he gave serious gravitas to the cowboy roles imo.

  • Flintlock rifle

  • Great commentary on gun shops, Hickock. I manage a successful car dealership. We operate by a rather ethical philosophy I think, giving accurate advice based on wants and needs, as well as our own expertise. We, as do most high-quality retailers, try our best to match the customer with the right vehicle for them. Certainly profit margins change based on desirability, rarity and age of inventory, but we don't try to push the wrong car on a customer. I would hope a good gun shop does the same.

  • i have to agree with all your movie favorites....especially The Shootist, awesome movie- love the scene where he teaches Ron Howard how to shoot.

what edge4006 said about spiffs is right...but my experience was with selling tires-if I got a 10-15 dollar spiff for NTW brand tires well they were the best that day...hate to say it though

  • Hey there Hickok. Way off topic, but i've gotta question for ya.

Im in the market for a good .45 for concealed carry. Would you rather carry the Glock 30 or Glock 36... or any other suggestion? By the way I enjoy your videos and appreciate what you do for the ever growing gun community!!

  • I've only been subscribed for over a year, Hickok. But you already feel like a family :D

  • Favorite Western Movie -- Lonely are the Brave (1962) -- Walter Matthau, Carrol O'connor, Kirk Douglas

  • That's your flintlock. You haven't shown that one for a while.

  • The Mountain Men with Carleston Heston and Brian Keith. Best line ever;

"Well ain't you never been lost before?"

"NO I AIN'T NEVER BEEN LOST BEFORE!

been powerful confused for a month or two,

BUT I AIN'T NEVER BEEN LOST BEFORE!" Keith was a great foil for Heston.

  • good ol Appalachains greatest ppl on earth! great show hickok45

  • :O Sergeant York is one of my fav movies

  • @TheIrishCanuck that is truely a movie to own.. i ordered it and it had a second documentry type disc...it being 1911 month yr Alvin York used the 1911 in his quest to the medel of honor...

  • Unforgiven is maybe my all time favorite movie. " Deserve's got nothin' to do with it..." Clint's best work.

  • The big money is in used guns, Buy it for $200 sell it for $400

  • i was thinking about buying a GLOCK30 SF .45 what is your expert opinion on this gun ,is it a good handgun? please let me know, thnx so much, great videos

  • @kcjefes hi mate, if you put this in a private message to hickock45 he will probably answer you, bit risky with all these comments :P

  • I've never been a big western movies fan but The Good, Bad and the Ugly is fantastic. Great storyline, great actors, great music.

    -Jeff

  • hmmmmmmm, 4 dislikes, obamma, biden, pelosie, clinton

  • @trippyhatesu Oh no the liberals etc. etc.

  • @trippyhatesu Im 21 and want a pistol. Have a shotgun and hunt. But had no idea of what to get. The glock video was helpfull so i decided to subscribe. Thanks for makeing these videos and keep it up. (BTW trippy, im a registered democrat from NY, not all democrats are gun nazis lol)

  • @beastman6283 glad u subscribed, but i didnt make these videos, Hickok 45 did. keep watching and u will learn alot. have a nice day

  • @trippyhatesu LOLOL, thats a really good one man

  • @trippyhatesu haha

  • Its a Brown Bess.

  • +1 for Lonesome Dove!!!! Best casting EVER!

  • The Searchers has to be the best!

  • i wish i was proud to be from california.the biggest anti gun state! booooooooo! im jelouse of your hi cap mags and your barrels shorter than 16" and larger calibers and all the guns that are not on the california list :( good show hickok

  • it's a colt single-action army revolver.

how can you talk about westerns without once mentioning clint eastwood!?

  • I have never met a gun I did not like...and never will.

  • flintlock

  • hammer stage coach shotgun?

  • Best Western Movies... Unforgiven,Two Mules for Sister Sarah, Shane, The Man with no Name series, The Proposition, 3:10 to Yuma (old and new vers), True Grit (original), Anything with Eastwood or Wayne...

  • @xreddeadx , I like all those, too!

  • Favorite Westerns: Silverado, The Searchers, Tombstone, Rio Bravo, True Grit (the original), Unforgiven, The Gunfighter, The Shootist, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Magnificent Seven and of course, the best one of all, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

Those are my favorites, but give me anything with Eastwood or The Duke.

  • @JoeWolvie THE WILD BUNCH

  • @JoeWolvie I couldn't agree more .

  • Rolling block

  • Seems no one ever mentions Silverado, was a good movie back in the 80's. Came along when not many westerns had been made in several years. Duval...wow what an actor, Ben Johnson was a good supporting actor, he helped make alot of great westerns. Unforgiven, the wild bunch, butch & sundance, on and on...

  • I really like these radio shows. It almost doesn't matter what the subject is, we appreciate being able to listen and watch. Take care.

  • Great show Hickock; your list of favorite movies is almost identical to mine. On the subject of advising beginning/aspiring shooters; best thing to do is to visit a range. Some ranges have rental guns available and there are usually folks around who are knowledgeable and willing to help with questions about fundamentals etc. Shoot it before you buy it is best advise I can think of.

  • Not a lot of action in that gun action. I'm guessing a muzzle loader or flintlock as well.

  • hickok45 your face is not ugly its sexy ha ha ha life is good 39:00-39:19

  • nice

  • Gun of the week: Kentucky Flintlock Rifle .50 cal

  • civil war era single shot, like a sharps or springfield trap door

  • Choice:

Glock 3rd Gen #26 9mm, or 4th Gen 9 mm, which to buy??

  • @jamessosa100 I just had this decision and chose the 4th gen Glock. To me, the grip was a little bit better without adding something like the Talon grip tape. I say you should go somewhere that will allow you to handle both of them and make a decision on which one feels the best to you.

  • Once Upon A Time In The West

  • everyweekend there awsome!!! look forward to it every sat!

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DO THEM EVERY WEEK

  • Flintlock. And I DID buy some ammo and get to go shooting this week! It'd been so long I've started to lose my "shooter's shoulder". Those slugs were beatin' me up. I NEVER want to go months without shooting again. Still diggin' the radio show.

  • Some products have spiffs. Spiffs are salesperson incentives to sale a particular product. When I sold electronics, if Hitachi had a 20$ spiff, I sold Hitachi all day and every other brand was not as good aslong as the spiff was in effect.

  • @edge4006 , There you go; explains quite a lot.

  • My guess is Brown Bess.

  • My guess is it's a Swedish Ljungman.

  • If you skip a week I will rip my ears off, so don't!

  • H&R 10 Ga. Double Barrel Shotgun

  • I think its some kind of muzzleloader... Flintlock style

  • im hardcore! u gonna have a mental meltdown im sure its already screaming to much info! you forgot blazing saddles and two mules for sister sarah he is right about putting your hands on it i wanted a glock until i held one lol gotta be a flinchlock lol

  • you gotta get a Springfield 1903 and do a bolt guns of the war type video!

  • bazooka

  • sounds like a flint lock.

  • some sort of external hammer side-by-side

  • Brown Bess? Or a Model 1784 Revolution Style...forgot the Actual name.

  • lol the cowboys is what my grandpa had me watch when i was around 10 to get me into westerns

  • I really enjoyed this podcast. Thanks, Hickok!

  • You take notes while driving that all terrain smart car? I wonder if you have a tactical notepad stand built inside the cabin, close to the terrain response controls in that beast.

  • Your double barrel coach gun with hammers

  • Yep, gun store clerks, just like sales persons at any store, are usually a) unknowledgeable in guns, or latest offerings, b) cognitively, or economically biased to one brand over the other.

I totally agree, if your looking for a gun, make sure it fits your hand for proper excecution before acquiring.

  • is there anyone who listens the whole thing?

  • @WeWantGoodCovers Yes, don't you?

  • @GMGvanS neh

  • @WeWantGoodCovers Come on man, these shows are awesome. I just make myself some breakfast and listen while I eat! Greatest morning ritual I ever had.

  • @GMGvanS Good one! =D

  • i mean, i love his videos, but i dont know everything about english, so, either i drink my good coffe whatchin he shooting targets, or I pay attention to his great worlds

  • @WeWantGoodCovers I do...

  • Double barrel shotgun

  • There you go burstin peoples bubbles. Gun stores across America are cringing at Hickocks philosophy. Every store I go into tries to push their marketing hype and couldn't answer a question honestly if it was their job. Thanks for sharing.

  • Im guessing gun action of the week is the Springfield trapdoor.

  • Gun action of the week: Winchester mod 60 .22 cal bolt action?

  • A black powder gun. Those 2 clicks are a giveaway when you pull the hammer back.

  • black powder!

  • oh lonesome dove...love that movie. Never was a big fan of westerns but if there was ever a movie to turn me it would be that.

  • Coffee and Hickok45 is such a good way to start the day.

  • Great episode! Thanks again from south-central Idaho.

  • good vid Are you ever going to do a video some time of the colt walther partner ship 1911 22LR gun?

  • Your double barrel?

  • black powder rifle

  • So crazy... I bought Jeremiah Johnson on DVD for like $5 last year...

  • I am guessing some sort of break action rifle or shotgun.

  • The trick to the gun action of the week is to pay attention to all the details. It has to be a flintlock musket or rifle of some kind. Notice how he didnt want to pull the trigger, probably because he didnt want sparks flying around his reloading room (for obvious reasons). Not to brag or anything but i got last weeks gun action correct with the Mauser 98, and am really excited :D

  • im 15 and my favorite movie is the origonal true grit with john wayne

  • the action of the week is a double barrel shotgun, side by side?

  • Life is good.

  • It's great to get up on Saturday and listen to the radio show! Thank you.

  • you should do a live streaming hickcock

  • double barrel shotgun

  • nooooooooo dont skip weeks

  • classy "radio voice" at the very end.

  • The best advice you've given; feel it, hold it, make sure it fits your hand etc.prior to buying. Range test one if possible for recoil, weight, accuracy etc. Regardless what the salesman tells you, the best gun for you is the one you shoot the best < UNLESS you just collect firearms.

  • I work at a gun shop and I'm not a fan of Glocks at all.

I hate the grip angel, they're clumsy and blocky.

But those things are subjective and will not seem the same to everyone.

Glocks are good reliable guns and anyone who says otherwise is just wrong.

There are many different guns on the market for a good reason, no one model will work for everyone.

A gun shop employee who tries to sale you anything other than the best gun for you is in the wrong line of work.

  • why would anybody not like this great show!

  • Double Barrel shotgun?

  • My guns love your show.

Every sunday, when I listen to your radio episodes, something supernatural just pushes me to take my pistols out to take a look at em and if needed clean them, that just makes them so happy.

    They thank you.

  • 'Unforgiven'. Gotta be up there too.

  • @cavu79 "All right, I'm coming out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife, all his friends, and burn his damn house down." ;]

  • @scotchlouis Ha ha good quote! Love that movie!

  • @babawawasrk dear mr. troll please go away

signed everyone else in the world

  • You might skip a week on the radio show!! Thats just a bad April fools joke...right....

:-) jk . Love these shows.

  • Comment removed

  • I'll give it a shot. The gun of the week is a "Flintlock" of somekind. Love the radio show. Don't retire from it.....EVER.

  • Comment removed

  • i love the bookmark setup in the descriptions, it makes it much easier to navigate

  • double action shotgun with external hammers, like a coach gun

  • I enjoy the show and the benefit of your knowledge/experience. Thank you Hickok45 & John.

  • Gun action: Your double barrel coach gun?

  • Ruger 10/22?

  • "I'm your huckleberry"

  • Some gun store clerks are just spectacularly uninformed. I once had a clerk spend twenty minutes trying to tell me that condition 2 (hammer down on a live cartridge) was the only safe way to carry a 1911.

  • @huguenot67 ??? No way.

I have an M1911 A1. How do you lower the hammer on a live round with a 1911A1. Seems really unsafe to make this a common practice. Only takes one slip of the thumb.
