In modern punk, `NOFX and Rancid are two bands that have consistently put out great records without desperately trying to come up with something to appeal to the masses with.

Offspring made songs like Pretty Fly and Original Prankster and just completely threw their own reputation down the gutter, becoming complete MTV whores to sell more records and make more money. Greenday sort of took a similar path.

NOFX stuck to their guns, no MTV, no mainstream record label. Purely driven by their shows
