@areckelh I think the best protagonists were to be a team of two or four silent marines who use dual pump-action shotguns (I'm taking these ideas straight out from Skulltag) in combination with fast movement and hand-to-hand combat.
Also i believe if there was a cyberdemon or such in the movie, it would incredibly unrealistic for a movie, because the protagonist would get hit in the face with a rocket and start spamming rockets of his own. But hell yeah, if they can make it, i want it!
I guess 2 would would stall the other monsters', and the third marine would get the Mastermind's attention, while the other wastes it.

Skulltag is a multiplayer client that needs Doom 1 or 2 to run. It allows the player to team up with 31 other players in a server, and you get loads of extra weapons, some never seen before. Havn't played Modern Warfare 2? Try the mw2 mod!

@valvehead131 Yes, you missed lots of games. There is Doom, Doom II, Tnt Evilution, Plutonia Experiment, Master Levels, Maximum Doom, Doom 64 (Absolution for PC). You can try uncommercial WADS like Plutonia 2, Schyte, Hell Revealed etc. There is also Doom 3, Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil and unofficial expansions (Fragging Free, In Hell, Phobos) :)

The original DooM Bible (written by ID co-founder Tom Hall around the time before the first game was released) has the BFG named "Big Fucking Gun." Can't argue with that.
Also, in the movie when Sarge picks it up, he even calls it "Big Fucking Gun," a callback to its original name.
That Bio Force Gun bullshit is only from the movie.
If anything, the only other safer name I'd go with is "Blast Field Generator"

Actually, it did have and official name in the Doom alpha. It was "Billion Firefall Gun". It shot torrents of small fireballs instead of one large one back then.

Actually I believe the REAL name IS "Bio-Force Gun", however, if you're a marine and you get hold of some giant weapon, such as a Javelin, yeah when you're in combat you go "SHOOT THE JAVELIN!" but you KNOW the guy pulling the trigger immediately thinks to himself with an evil grin "TIME TO ROCK YOU FROM THE HEAVENS BITCH!" *pull*

Wrong, not everything on wikipedia is right, it stands for big fucking gun. Ever heard of the doom bible? probably not. google it, go to the weapons page, and there it will show you.
To be honest, it was never actually explicitly called the Big Fucking Gun. Even though I'm pretty sure everyone (over the age of 10) will agree that's what it's called.
I believe the manual said "Big, uh, FREAKIN', Gun" to avoid the word specifically...I'm pretty sure id has never actually given it a name other than BFG9000.
Someone mentioned Blast Field Gun somewhere once for a serious name, considering the mechanics of how it deals damage.

The BFG has NEVER been given an "official" name.
Neither in DOOM nor in Quake II (BFG10K).

Actually, it did have and official name in the Doom alpha. It was "Billion Firefall Gun". It shot torrents of small fireballs instead of one large one back then.

Are you guys arguing about the BFG? If you refer to the Doom 3 story line, the UAC named it the Bio-Force Gun, but we all know id meant for it to be Big Fucking Gun.
It's also in Quake games, but I don't think the back story ever gave it a name so it's just Big Fucking Gun in that series.

Actually I believe the REAL name IS "Bio-Force Gun", however, if you're a marine and you get hold of some giant weapon, such as a Javelin, yeah when you're in combat you go "SHOOT THE JAVELIN!" but you KNOW the guy pulling the trigger immediately thinks to himself with an evil grin "TIME TO ROCK YOU FROM THE HEAVENS BITCH!" *pull*
Or something to that effect... So a space marine finding something like that would obviously pick it up and think to himself "BIG FUCKING GUN!" as he hefts it :P

Agreed. Also, the movie was about monsters made by the evil of !!!SCIENCE!!! rather than demons from hell.

To be honest, it was never actually explicitly called the Big Fucking Gun. Even though I'm pretty sure everyone (over the age of 10) will agree that's what it's called.
I believe the manual said "Big, uh, FREAKIN', Gun" to avoid the word specifically...I'm pretty sure id has never actually given it a name other than BFG9000.
Someone mentioned Blast Field Gun somewhere once for a serious name, considering the mechanics of how it deals damage.

Because the wimp mode "I'm too young to die" gave me no trouble AT ALL until E2M7 where I just got LOST in the level itself and didn't care enough to conitnue... I don't like FPSes anyway.
